Stoney Goat Homestead

What an amazing place! Gary is such a gracious host! I had a spot close to the shop and it was perfect. A beautiful tree canopy with a burn pit and bench. The goats were fun to listen to and watch and the chickens came to visit a few times. Breakfast on Saturday, made by Gary, is a delicious perk and a great way to meet other campers. Other than the tour with the goats, I didn’t get to explore much due to the weather, but that just gives me a reason to return.

This was a fun, quirky place to stay about 20 minutes from Watkins Glen. My daughter and I are both animal lovers so staying on a goat farm was great! Gary is very genuine and nice and a fantastic host! We stayed in the covered wagon which was my compromise for camping. There was a small wood stove and a fire ring outside

Wow. We had the absolute best weekend here! Gary is SO kind and you can tell him and his family have put so much love and care into the animals and land. It was such a unique experience and we felt so safe and comfortable the entire time. I wish I could give 100 stars out of 5. We cannot wait to come back!!

Definitely off the grid. The trip to the out house was a slippery slope ...steps would have made it easier. ( the ground was wet from the rain) Gary was a great host.

Great camp! Gary was an awesome host and even shared cinnamon rolls and biscuits and gravy that he had made for us in the morning. The site we stayed across the ravine was fantastic for stargazing and enjoying nature. Stoney Goats is a must stay! 10/10

One Year Anniversary

Me and my partner love our stay. This was the perfect spot for our one year anniversary. The goats and Gary were so friendly and the pups were sweet! The Homestead is very close to a lot of fun activities around the finger, lakes, including Watkins Glen State Park and a few wineries. Gary also made a amazing breakfast on Sunday morning. We can’t wait to come back and visit the goats once more!!!!!

A vision come to life!

Just got back from a beautiful 2 nights in the wagon at Stoney Goat Homestead! The stay was better than I could’ve ever imagined. Gary is an incredibly generous host, you’ll quickly feel and see the abundance that he and the land give. Once I arrived and got the tour of the land and met some of the fur and feathered friends, I knew I chose the right place! Staying there can be so many things— good for solitude or connection (talk to Gary and hear about the larger vision he and his son have for the place), good for rest or activity (feed the goats, walk the trails), good for general camping or seeing what it takes to really live on the land (if this something you dream of often, visit and learn). I really enjoyed getting to sit around and cook on the fire (Gary provides so much firewood and some veggies and eggs). The wagon itself is super cozy and everything you need—this place was such a good find as someone who doesn’t own a tent! The homestead is a quick drive to Watkins Glen State Park, and is just on the edge of state forest trails. I highly recommend staying here, and am so glad I found it. I can’t wait to see how Gary’s vision continues to build.

Peacefulness in a chaotic world

What really makes this place unforgettable, though, is the host, Gary. He’s one of the kindest, most genuine people you’ll meet. You can tell he has a vision of creating a better, simpler way of life and loves sharing it with everyone who visits. His hospitality goes far beyond what’s expected, making you feel like you’re staying with an old friend rather than at a campsite. And if you’re lucky enough to enjoy one of Gary’s meals, you’re in for a treat. He’s an incredible cook, and the bacon he made was, without question, the best bacon I’ve ever had. Stony goat homestead is amazing! Land owner Gary takes good care of his animals and the property. He is a very hospitable host. The food was also delicious and fresh! It’s made on the homestead, too. All the goats have such personalities! We enjoyed feeding and petting all of them. We also got to see a baby goat that was born one of the nights we were there. Absolutely adorable! Highly recommend you come camp here. Gary is very knowledgeable about the area and his work on the homestead. 4/20 friendly is a major plus. Definitely coming back.

GOAT with the Goats!

Gary’s homestead is amazing!! My partner and I stayed for the weekend and enjoyed every second. Highlights included feeding the goats, getting cozy in the covered wagon next to the wood-stove, and chatting with Gary about his land. One of a kind experience!

Wow what a cool surprise this was, my girlfriend and I booked this last week for a quick getaway. Upon arrival we met with our host Gary, he gave us a tour of the property and explained his vision for the homestead, I just think it’s so cool in 2026 for a host to not care about gouging people for money, and genuinely wanting to show people it’s possible to live a self sustaining lifestyle. Gary provided all the firewood we could ask for free of charge and even started a fire for us the first night. The goats were AMAZING! Gary gave us a huge bucket of corn to go down and introduce ourselves, there had to be 40 of them including about 6 babies. It was heaven. The wagon itself was super comfortable with a small wood stove, and a nice queen bed. Gary brought us over some delicious fresh eggs from his chickens in the morning and man there was nothing like it. Well for sure be back, thank you so much Gary for all the hospitality and conversation. Ps give Sawyer a big pat on the head for us! -dylan and jess

My boyfriend, our dog, and I very much enjoyed our stay in the covered wagon. Gary couldn’t be a nicer guy and real genuine. He helped make our stay comfortable, giving us wood for the fire, some fresh eggs for breakfast, and corn to feed the friendliest goats. His dogs are sweet and friendly too. Our dog got to make new friends. We really loved every minute of our trip. I highly recommend choosing the Stoney Goat Homestead. It was a great place to unwind and forget about the stresses of life. I can’t wait to see how the homestead progresses into Gary’s vision. It’s already a great place. I wish we could’ve stayed longer but we’ll definitely be back for sure! Thanks so much Gary!!! : )

Gary a great hoast. He cut up plenty of wood for the inside fireplace to keep us warm through the night and even left us some fresh eggs for breakfast. The bed was comfy and the yurt was more spacious then it looked in the photos.

We loved our time on the homestead! Gary is a very gracious host and was nothing but helpful the whole trip. The wagon stayed warm so long as we got off our butts to stick some wood in the stove. It was very comfy for our little trio, and my dog thoroughly enjoyed exploring the trails with us. The only downside of the entire trip was the hike down to the outhouse, but even that was manageable - we just needed to plan ahead for bathroom breaks. The goats were friendly and we appreciated the rooster alarm clock. I know the homestead is still a work in progress, which is why we're very excited to see what it looks like when we come back next year :)

A hidden gem of New York

I can’t say enough good things about our stay at Stony Goat Farm. It was magical. Gary is a humble and helpful and generous host. We had a romantic and adventurous little getaway and I definitely want to go back. The fall foliage was majestic, the animals were endearing and the cabin was quaint and perfect. It got pretty chilly during our late October trip but the stove kept us cozy. This place is a hidden gem of New York.

We had such a great time at the Stoney Goat Homestead. Gary was a very kind host with such a cool homestead. It was such a cool experience to be able to meet all his goats, pigs, chickens, dogs, and cats. His garden was incredible as well. The campsite itself was secluded and gave us enough space to pitch our tent, cook outdoor meals and have campfires. Would highly recommend camping here and we can’t wait to come back!!

Best camping experience so far, goats, dogs, chickens, pigs, coyotes howling at night, starry nights and a cozy little cabin, with plenty to hike near by. Great time, memories and getting to know Gary was the best part of it. A very humble and hard working human being, with big project in mind for his family, home, and campsite, We are already thinking of going back sometime soon already 🙌🏽. 10/10.

A slice of paradise! My husband and I spent 3 nights on Gary’s land and it was incredible. We never experienced a homestead before and not only did we enjoy spending time with the animals, we learned a lot about them. Gary is so kind and welcoming. He is putting so much love and care into his property and you can feel it. If you are looking for a place to disconnect and be out in nature off the grid, this is it!

It was amazing! Gary has a welcoming homestead with different camping experiences available. The animal interactions were the highlight of the trip. We were able to take a lesiure walk with some goats and feed the pigs. Gary is an exceptional host, enthusiastic and informative about the land and his animals. He even offered us fresh eggs from the chickens and they were delightful. 100% would recommend to anyone who loves the homestead lifestyle, a secluded getaway, or farm animals. We will definitely be staying there again.
