Beautiful mowed meadow. Peaceful. Private. But if you have a dog in October, there are hundreds of tiny ticks. Luckily our dog is white so I could see them moving. Otherwise it was great.

Lower Meadow site
A very pastoral setting. Quiet. Lower meadow was very private. Our friends stayed in the upper meadow. Toilet facility was extremely clean.

Loved the secludedness of this place. Campsites very spread out. Plenty of groomed trails to walk and a short drive to many other parks and waterfalls. Compost outhouse did not smell. Plenty of firewood available onsite for a good price (pay with cash or PayPal). FYI no cell signal for T-Mobile customers).

Fantastic place to camp! Host was super nice and responsive! The only thing I would warn other campers of is the sign to the road is just a small yard sign and the road is really rough to drive on. Lower to the ground cars will have a hard time. I will absolutely be going back next year!

Well thought out and manicured sites! I enjoyed my cozy stay under the Pines. The other sites looked pretty much in the open. This site was past a couple of the other sites that are nearer to the toilet so I just used my own camp toilet rather than walking "all that way".
I loved that there was a picnic table and nice fire ring. The trails were also nice to explore.
Only a 10 minute drive to the beautiful Robert Treman State Park.
When I went to bed I did put in ear plugs as you do hear a fast road in the distance where the sound only seems to amplify when it gets dark. I didn't really notice it as much during the day time.
I'd definately stay here again but check out a different site, next time; for variety.

The Green Heron is an excellent place to camp! We camped In the Pines, which was very comfortable. The kids loved walking the pathways around the campsite. We had enough room for a 6-person tent and a 3-person tent. We had to walk by the Upper Meadow and Lower Meadow campsites to get to the composting toilet, though this was not an issue for us, and we couldn't see other campsites from our campsite. The outhouse was clean and did not smell. There is a steep, though short, hill to drive down to the In the Pines site. I could see how it might be slippery if the ground was wet, but the ground was dry when we drove it and our minivan managed to make it up the hill. Overall the site is very peaceful!

Great spot to camp! Secluded for privacy so you feel like you’re in nature by yourself and the overall set up is well made. Highly recommend if you want to feel almost like you’re primitive camping

This is a must visit short-stay glamping adventure in one of the country’s best Hipcamp locales, for a fraction of the cost (as you must walk to a composting toilet and there are no showers) but hey, it’s well worth it. Here you will find a gorgeous location with lots of space and lovely touches like tiki torches, a free stack of firewood, chairs, and a picnic table AND your phone will work! Feels remote but is short drive down the road and the first site on the property with lots of charm and lush greenery. I once stayed in a luxury tent in Africa - and this tent is just as well-made and finely crafted. My son and I had a blast celebrating his 21st bday weekend under the stars with the night breeze and animal sounds. There’s lanterns in the tent, and tables, and an extra blanket but we didn’t need it. Toasty! The bed is a dream. I slept like a baby - but woke to the yips and howls of the coyotes. Make sure you have a rain or white noise setting on your phone as they are up to making quite the racket late into the night or early morning depending upon your perspective. (Also they are not interested in humans so don’t be alarmed!) Last but certainly not least - Craig is an amazing host - highly responsive, kind, and helpful. Just stellar. Would definitely book again!

Great location for glamping. Conveniently close to both Ithaca & Taughanock Falls. The site was very well set organized; both interior & exterior were comfortable under the oak trees. Fire pit, tiki torches, picnic table and front porch with chairs were very nice. Bed was comfy. The location on the property was private, but other tent/RV campsites and a pond were a short walk away. The dark sky at night was stellar for stargazing.

I’ve stayed at a handful of Hipcamps. And this place is the best well maintained one I’ve ever been too. The road to get to all the sites was completely compacted packed down! I was in awe how easy it was to find my spot. I get lost and confused, very easily and this was so simple to find my spot. Which was amazing and so secluded. Also the site was perfectly leveled and big! Plus in the perfect location if you’re chasing waterfalls in the area! There was so much greenbelt in between the other sites as well.
It wasn’t the best weather when I stayed, but looked like there was quite a few walking trails on the property. Craig was so fast with communication. And very accommodating with my schedule (that got pushed back), which I’m extremely grateful for!

Best campsite we’ve found—hands down.
We originally booked the Secluded Spruces site at Craig’s Green Heron property, and it was great—private, peaceful, and well-maintained. But while exploring the land, we came across the In the Pines site… and wow. Instantly knew we had to ask if we could switch.
Craig was incredibly kind and flexible—he let us move since no one else had it booked. Even if we had stayed at Secluded Spruces, we would’ve had a great time. But In the Pines truly felt like a hidden gem. Tons of shade, total privacy, and trees perfectly spaced for hammocks. It felt like our own little forest retreat.
The location is also fantastic. Just a short drive to some amazing hikes (Lucifer Falls is a must), and close to Ithaca for great food, shops, and everything else you could want for a perfect trip.
This was easily one of the best campsites we’ve found anywhere in the U.S.—a perfect balance of nature, comfort, and location. We’ll definitely be back.

This was exactly what I was looking for in a camping site. No neighbors right next to me, quiet with just the birds singing and the bullfrogs. Really enjoyed my 3 days and will definitely be coming back!

Absolutely beautiful land, vibes, energy, etc. Bunnies and wildflowers everywhere! It was hard to leave our site after the weekend was over! My friends and I have done some work in farming and gardening and were quite impressed with the impeccable landscaping. Craig was generous in his flexibility and communication :) The bathroom was very clean as others have mentioned, and it was great to have the wood we purchased waiting for us upon arrival. You can hear a bit of noise from cars and things on the road, so it didn't feel totally secluded. That said, we had plenty of privacy from other campers in the lower meadow (note, no one was staying at the upper meadow while we were there, but it was within eyeshot). I absolutely plan to be back at this spot next time I'm in Ithaca! Thank you, Craig!

Graigs land was beautifully kept and easy to find and we enjoyed a quiet 1 night in this hidden gem. No body else was there except the bunnies, the herons, the bull frogs.

Very quiet and serene place to set up my tent for the night. The lower and upper meadow separation wasn't totally clear to me, but I don't think it really mattered. Clean outhouse!

Craig's land is beautiful and welcoming. I arrived just as a summer storm cleared and enjoyed the quiet and calm. I only stayed one night but would definitely recommend to anyone looking to unplug from the city or, as in my case, a stop on a longer journey.

We had a great stay at the Secluded Spruces site. It was very quiet and peaceful and we enjoyed walking the trails on the property. We loved the close proximity to Ithaca for restaurants and groceries as well.

This is one of the most beautiful hipcamp locations I’ve ever had the pleasure to book. It was peaceful, lush and quiet, with lovely trails to explore and well kept private mowed spots. Also the compost toilet was very clean and stocked. The location is not far from Ithica and Watkins glen. Highly recommend!

my best friend and I really enjoyed our stay here! we were at the "In the Pines" site and it was perfect. it was so spacious and cozy. the bed of pine needles was very comfy to walk around on and the trees kept us significantly cooler during some high heat. the meadows are beautiful. so many flowers and critters. the composting toilet was clean and simple. all in all we loved it and would totally stay again. thanks craig!
