Magical Camping Experience!
I could not imagine a more peaceful, magical setting out in nature than Dwayne’s teepee! He greeted us on arrival, gave us a tour of the whole property and information about the area like nearby hiking and things to do. He also already had the fire in the teepee and the fire ring going for us, how kind is that! We chose this spot because we wanted to check out Watkins Glen State Park, and this location was perfect for it (about a 20 min drive away). There were deer on the property, birds and we even heard coyotes howling on the full moon. There is a beautiful creek that runs behind the teepee, and there are beairful horses and donkeys on the property that you pet them! It was a quiet and secluded spot in nature, just what we wanted. Dwayne’s house is at the front of the property - so it’s nice to know if you need something your host is a walk away! It was very clean, safe and all around amazing trip. We came during the fall to see the leaves and are planning to come back in the summer time. Dwayne also leaves out firewood for you which is wonderfully convenient. If you are looking for a beautiful spot to get away from the city and into nature - this is it!

Great trip, thanks!!!
We are newer to hip camp and this has been our most favorite place so far. Dwayne was awesome. Super friendly and very attentive to our needs. His dog Duke was really sweet and got along with our dog great, even though our dog usually doesn’t get along with other dogs. The site was clean and the porta potty on site was clean too. There is a convenience store within walking distance and also a bar with live music on some nights. We asked Dwayne to stoke the fire and he loaded us up and got it lit on the first night when it was a bit damp to light a fire.

You MUST camp here!
Dwayne was an excellent host! He was very accommodating and has a wealth of knowledge about the area. The property was beautiful and so much fun to explore. I’ll definitely be returning to watch the leaves change. The tipi was a perfect escape. It came equipped with a fire and kept us warm and dry from the rain. We were able to cook some steaks :) on the fire which made for such a peaceful experience.

Very sweet and comfortable place to camp. Dogs really enjoyed being right next to water, and we enjoyed setting up under the pines. Benches, tables, a fire ring and firewood set up and available for purchase made for an easy couple of nights for my friend and me who just wanted a convenient place to meet between our two homes. We walked into the adjacent state forest rather than exploring nearby sights. Not a very pretty or interesting hike on snowmobile trails. We also walked to the local watering hole for a cold beer and a hot meal one night. To me, being able to access some comforts without getting in the car is a big plus when car camping. No cell signal at the camp site. But wifi available at the nearby store. Dwayne Is a friendly and accommodating host. Definitely made sure we were comfortable and then left us alone. As it should be :)

Loved Dwayne's place! It's very easy to find as it's just off a main road. It's a beautiful property on the edge of Sugar Hill State Forest and has access to a swimming hole and hiking trails. The tipi was great! I'd never stayed in one before. Lots of room and of course it was nice to be able to have a fire inside of it so it was nice and warm when i went to sleep. Next to the tipi he has a table, chairs, and another fire pit so you can hang out outside, and there's a clean outhouse. Dwayne is really nice and let me know about things to do in the area. I only stayed one night as I was just passing through town and had to get back on the road in the morning, but this is a place where I would love to have spent more time. Will definitely be back!

Suki says Duke is a-ok!
Dwayne greeted us upon arrival and was an outstanding host from start to finish. He was incredibly attentive to our needs, while remaining completely non-intrusive. Dwayne’s property offered an incredibly tranquil vibe and ticked the boxes we were looking for in a Finger Lakes getaway. The night sky alone was well worth the price of admission alone imo. The night air was pleasantly filled by the sounds of the natural world… babbling brook, crickets, cicadas, peepers, wild turkey and the neighing of the gorgeous Geldings. Dwayne has certainly turned his property into a small slice of heaven and we are very enthusiastic at the thought of a return-trip to Tempast Ranch!

We absolutely loved our time at Dwayne’s property. A beautiful spot filled with so much life and so many little gems! We had the “happy place” site that was tucked into the trees and it truly reflected the name. The swimming pool was super relaxing to float around in. We were lucky to have clear skies at night and WOW I have never seen the stars like that. We got quite a show. We all took a morning walk around the property and got to take in all the wildflowers, butterflies, and little fish swimming in the creek. Dwayne is awesome and super helpful with everything we needed- communication was excellent. We can’t wait to come back!

Camping in the tipi
we and our two dogs had a good time in the tipi of Dwayne's land. It was clean and quiet. It was a little bit cold to swim in the stream or swimming hole but it was very nice to walk. Will definitely visit again sometime.

Great, unique stay!
Dwayne is an amazing host and just all-around a great person! Our stay was well needed and allowed us to get back in touch with nature. The Tipi was an amazing experience that everyone should enjoy for themselves at least once in their lives. Dwaynes property has a stream and a wonderful swimming home within walking distance. On the really hot days, you can drive to it. The other guests near the swimming hole were amazing as well. As much as we wanted to get away from our day to day life, it was nice that there is a corner store and bar with WiFi right accross the road. This way we didnt miss any important messages from buisness and family. We would recommend the tent to anyone who loves nature and unique stays and we hope to stay again one day.

Perfect slice of paradise
The golden rule of camping is you always leave a place better than you found it. With Tempest Ranch, that was impossible because it was already amazing. Dwayne met us at the corner of the property, super easy to get to. He showed us up the road and to a big bunch of shaded pines next to a swimming hole and a camping spot we had only hoped would be be half as amazing as it was. The mountainous backdrop was perfect for afternoon shade. Dwayne set us up really nicely with firewood and offered to light it before he left. He has such a sweet dog accompanying him too, both our dogs got along with him. We were able to park next to our camping spot so carrying stuff to the tent location we picked was super easy. We got a fire going and the dogs had a blast running in and out of the water and all over the camping area. The next day we realized we forgot coffee. There’s a convenience store within walking distance. We got all our morning prep done and drove to Robert H Treneman park (the state park in Watkins glen doesn’t allow dogs). Had an amazing morning and afternoon hiking and finished up at one of the local wineries (so many to choose from!!!). We got back late afternoon and not a single thing in our campsite was touched, everything was perfectly safe. We got another fire going, sat out and cooked dinner, had plenty of firewood, and had a seamless night. I can’t thank Dwayne enough, we had such an amazing weekend!

Great camp spot & sleep in a tipi
My family (4 of us including 2 older teens) had a great experience camping at Dwayne's tipi. Before we arrived, Dwayne was very accommodating as we wanted to move our date up a couple of days due to a covid situation where we were staying with friends. The tipi was plenty large for 4 of us. The new outhouse was pristine and smelled like plywood. We took a challenging bike ride along the mostly dirt roads around his property and relaxed around a fire in the evening. There was a small water tank by the campsite but since we moved our reservation up 2 days, Dwayne didn't have a chance to refill it. There was also a hose on the property we could use. We would definitely recommend this site and Dwayne was a great host who provided lots of information about the area and things to do.

Girl and dog camping trip!
Wow! What a great spot! I was looking for relaxation, quality time with my dog, and water to cool off in. I found all three at Tempest Ranch. Dwayne was so welcoming. He led me to my camp spot, helped me get my little camper situated and even got my fire going. The camp spot had everything you could want...it was perfectly nestled in a quiet and shady pine grove with a table, bench, fire pit, an outhouse, and a swimming hole a few steps away. I camped here for two nights and would have loved to stay longer. As a female camping alone, I felt completely safe here and absolutely relaxed. Thank you Dwayne and Tina for sharing your slice of paradise with me and the Jemma dog. :)

Dwayne was wonderful he meet us at the entrance and took us to the spot. Sold firewood and would have built the fire! Great hospitality I don’t know how he makes money he puts a lot into his product. Beautiful location almost a cow pasture with pines behind you. This was our first hip camp experience and I loved it!! Don’t hesitate go see Dwayne it’s about 20 minutes from Cornell

Beautiful spot in nature
We ( 2 adults and 2 teens) stayed for 2 nights and really enjoyed our stay. Dwayne is a gracious and fun host with a beautiful piece of land in nature. We appreciated the fire circles with wood piled up for easy campfire building. The campsite is in nature, but close enough to Watkins Glen State Park (great hike) and the Corning Museum of Glass, just a couple of the things we did while in the area. We have a 32 foot RV, and were able to find pretty flat spots where we could use our pop outs. We recommend you check it out if you need a place to park an RV ( or if you are rent camping.

Don’t Pass This Place Up!!!
No water or Internet but don’t let that stop you- this place is an AMAZING spot!! Top two things I hope for when booking on Hipcamp- a friendly host and a cool property. Both boxes above and beyond checked! Dwayne could not be kinder. He really went above and beyond showing me multiple sites I could pick from when I got there. I was traveling by myself so he asked if I preferred to be near everyone else or if I’d rather have my privacy. I don’t get a lot of time by myself so I opted for privacy and Dwayne took me to this little oasis in the corner of his property by an intersecting stream and a frog pond with its own private outhouse (where he normally rents out a huge tipi which is definitely a super cool spot you should consider staying in-listed separately). He also made sure I had wood for my fire each night and even offered to light it for me. By day I could sit in my hammock by the frog pond and read, explore the streams, or visit the water hole, and at night i could sit under the stars with a nice fire and fall asleep to the frogs. There is no water so be sure to bring your own, and no service on property so be aware you’ll be unplugged. There is service just down the road in case you need it but I didn’t miss it and felt completely safe during my visit. The surrounding areas give you plenty to do- Watkins Glen & Corning each 20 away. Lots of animal sightings in just two days- deer, fox, owl, otter, turtle -so be careful when driving! Can’t wait to come back again!

Everything was great! I couldn’t have asked for a better camp spot. Tempest Ranch was quiet, peaceful and relaxing with a phenomenal view. We came on 4th of a July weekend and were the only ones there! Dwayne was a marvelous host, we got there around 9:30pm in the rain and he still managed to wait for us and direct us to our camp spot. So if your looking for a peaceful relaxing camp spot, Tempest Ranch is for you!

We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to tent camp! On Memorial Day weekend we were the only ones there which is unheard of at most places. It was so serene. We brought our two dogs and it was a great place for them as well. Dwayne is great host, always available, and went above and beyond. The $5 to have firewood available was a fantastic deal.
