Our hipcamp resides on nine private acres of trailed woods and meadow in the heart of Ellis Hollow, just outside of Ithaca, NY near Cornell and Ithaca College. Please note the differences in site options before booking. Cascadilla Meadow adjoins the public lands of the Ellis Hollow Community Center and is across the street from the popular hiking trails of the Ellis Hollow Nature Preserve. Enjoy the natural beauty, relax by the fire, walk to scenic views of Cascadilla Creek, or, if you’re feeling brave, take a dip where the creek bends into a small pond. Learn more about this land: Explore nine private acres of trailed woods and meadow in the heart of Ellis Hollow, just outside of Ithaca, NY. Our property adjoins the public lands of the Ellis Hollow Community Center and is across the street from the popular hiking trails of the Ellis Hollow Nature Preserve. Enjoy the natural beauty, relax by the fire, walk to scenic views of Cascadilla Creek, or, if you’re feeling brave, take a dip where the creek bends into a small pond. This site is good for tent camping, campers or for large self driven RVs or pull behind RV trailers, with plenty of room for parking and turnaround. Extra tents may be erected. There are are no electric or plumbing utilities onsite. There is one composting toilet, but no shower facilities.  Generators may be used. The sight has a campfire ring, free firewood and a table with 4 chairs. The owners will not disturb you at your camping site but may use the south end of the lot near the pond. We are a dog-friendly location. Off-leash is okay, as long as your dog responds reliably to recall commands and is friendly with children and small dogs. The owners have two small dogs who are occasionally off-leash. Looking to explore off-site? Ithaca: Cascadilla Meadow is located just 5 minutes from Cornell University and 10 minutes from all downtown Ithaca has to offer. Ithaca is well known for its many incredible restaurants, Farmers Market, local stores and art, theatre, wineries and breweries and of course, live music. Finger Lakes: In just 10-20 minutes from this location, you will find an abundance of waterfalls including Ithaca Falls, Buttermilk Falls and Taughannock Falls. Cayuga Lake is great for Sailing, kayaking and paddle boarding. Lake swimming is available at Myers Park in Lansing or Taughannock State Park outside of Trumansburg. Jump off a diving board into the pool at the bottom of Lower Treman Falls or hike upper Treman to Lucifer Falls, possibly the most beautiful short hike you’ll ever find. The area has hundreds of incredible hiking trails to choose from. Plus, Seneca Lake and the Finger Lakes Wine Trail are just a bit farther west! Biking: The roads of the Ellis Hollow area are popular with cyclists, while nearby Yellow Barn Forest, Hammond Hill and Shindagin Hollow are popular spots for mountain biking.  Full disclosure: Cascadilla Meadow’s RV parking is close to a moderately used local road. Tall power lines cut across this lot. We are also located the equivalent of a city block from a natural gas transfer station. We feel the benefits of solitary parking and the natural beauty of this area outweigh the small downsides of this location.

Campfire at Cascadilla Meadows

Spend an evening around the fire! Just a few miles from Ithaca, this secluded spot is the perfect place to unplug for a quiet evening. If you are looking to stay the night, click on the Cascadilla Meadow Camping site. Enjoy the crackle of the flames, the hush of the woods, and the cool of the open air. Cascadilla Meadow is a great spot to connect with friends from Cornell or Ithaca College, or connect with someone you love. Bring a blanket, a bottle of wine, and spend an evening just being present (with no wifi and barely any reception to distract you!) Completely private — no shared fire rings, no passing foot traffic. The hosts will not disturb you. Firewood, kindling, a lighter, 1 bag of marshmallows, 6 roasting sticks and four chairs provided. Feel free to bring your own chairs, additional food or drinks (s'mores, anyone?), a guitar, lawn games, or your favorite furry friend. Light amplification is allowed (personal-size speaker). Stay up to four hours or midnight, whichever comes first. The owners will not disturb you at your campfire but may use the south end of the property. Cascadilla Meadow Campfire is a dog-friendly location. Off-leash is okay, as long as your dog responds reliably to recall commands and is friendly with children and small dogs. The owners have a small dog who is occasionally off-leash nearby. Feel free to walk the 6 acres of trails to the river, but please stay on the east side of the small creek. Please note: Cascadilla Meadow Campfire is close to a moderately used local road which is obscured by tall grasses and bushes. Power lines cut across this property. The site is located the equivalent of a city block from a natural gas transfer station that casts a soft orange light.

My pup and I stayed beginning of April while visiting Cornell University. It was cold and with the wet ground my camper van didn't do so well so we parked near the entrance. It is relatively close to a road but there really wasn't any traffic to speak of. Minimal cell service (Verizon)...but the property felt secluded especially further back where the creek bends. Would like to stay again in a different season. I would recommend checking it out if you're in the area. The nature preserve literally right across the street is really nice. Lots of trails to explore. Janelle was very responsive and helpful. We'll be back.

Another great visit tent camping at Cascadilla Meadow! Janelle is a fantastic and responsive host, we greatly appreciate the firewood and water they provided. There’s hiking spots within walking distance from the site, and the location isn’t far from many other neat hiking spots. The goldenrod in the meadow are so lovely this time of year too :) absolutely recommend!!

I stayed for 5 nights and loved it. Lots of birds and sounds of wildlife here. The property is beautiful. There was fire wood and water waiting at the site. Minimal to no service with Verizon in the area. Comfortable bike ride into the university for this area.

A really nice area. It was easy to find, just off the road but had a nice wide open area for the dogs to play and a trail across the street to hike had alot of fun there.

Although it was a bit difficult to find, the site itself was huge! My partner & I were the only ones there during our stay but the whole area might be big enough for about 5 other tents. The campground is located right across the road from a Nature Preserve. The camp is very open, with tons of options for where to put your tent. Theres a big firepit in the center with backup wood in a sheltered shelving unit. There is a composting toilet in a zippered tent-like structure on the edge of the property. The location is about a 5 min drive away from the center of Ithaca. It's mostly far away from other buildings but it looks like theres a factory across the street, neighbored by the Nature Preserve. The building has some pretty bright lights in some of the windows, otherwise it's mostly dark. The only suggestion I have is maybe upgrading the composting toilet situation from a tent to a tiny wooden structure. We were only able to use it the first day, before the heat & the flies made it pretty unusable. All in all, I would recommend this spot for any couple or small group for camping. I would also love to return again!

I love camping at Cascadilla Meadow! I’ve been coming to this site in the fall the past few years but this was my first time staying in spring. The site is just as a beautiful, but filled with a bunch of flowers to greet you. The site is cozy and private and Janelle is a great host. Hoping to be back again this fall!

What a stunning piece of magic! We got rained out for the weekend, but even so, we had the best time hiking (the waterfalls were in all their glory) and cozying up in our skoolie - reading, playing card games, and dancing. We slept like babies. Janelle (who was great) greeted us and set us up with firewood, and although we had no need to use it, we peeked in the camping toilet, and consider that a great perk. We haven’t seen that in many Hipcamp sites. Great location, quiet, beautiful, and the land has great energy. We loved it and if we’re ever in the area, this will be our spot!

This is truly my favorite hipcamp site I’ve visited. Janelle is a wonderful host who provides helpful instructions for getting there and visiting the property. The site itself is beautiful, too. A great place to watch the sunset and stars, and just enjoy the outdoors. I couldn’t recommend this site enough!

This is a beautiful spot with lots of privacy, access to a stream, and plenty of space. The driveway and field were easily accessible and level for my camper which is very low to the ground. My dog was able to be off leash our entire visit, it's such a great place for her to explore and run. And the hosts are amazing! Very flexible, friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend this spot!

Cascadilla Meadows was perfect for our weekend trip to Ithaca. Serene and quiet with close proximity to the East Hill area, the site was clean and ready when we arrived. While we didn't use the fire pit or the provided table and chairs, they were well laid out and thoughtfully placed on the site. I look forward to returning and exploring the trails and nature that Cascadilla Meadow offers! Thank you for a great experience!

This was our second visit to this campsite, just as lovely as before! Janelle is great about sharing details on locating the site and is so accommodating. Nice property in quiet location. Saw a concert in the city center which was only about 10 minutes away. Spent the night in our small trailer, it rained heavily, so we did not get to enjoy the outdoors, or sit by a fire. There was a protected area with firewood, kindling, paper, and even a couple of canvas chairs for guests which was nice.

This sight is nicely private, easily accessed and level. We used our camper van and found this sight to be one of the easiest sites we have used. Hosts supplied us with some firewood and water as well as a bathroom tent with portable toilet. The sunsets and rises we outstanding.

The site was phenomenal! It is near a road but extremely quiet so we barely noticed. There are lots of spots to camp out on the property and a nice creek to hang out near. They provided water and firewood at no extra charge which was above and beyond what I expect out of a site at this cost. I would very highly recommend this site!

This place is a gem. Multiple camping spots to choose from. Great location, close to Ithaca, but still out there enough to get a great view of the stars. We tend to not visit the same place twice, but if we are ever in this area again I would not hesitate to book here again.

Great location just 10 minutes outside of downtown Ithaca. Great open space, level, scenic, the owner provides fire wood, drinking water, and a camp toilet. All very thoughtful and convenient. Would absolutely stay again.
