Our hipcamp resides on nine private acres of trailed woods and meadow in the heart of Ellis Hollow, just outside of Ithaca, NY. The property adjoins the public lands of the Ellis Hollow Community Center and is across the street from the popular hiking trails of the Ellis Hollow Nature Preserve. Enjoy the natural beauty, relax by the fire, walk to scenic views of Cascadilla Creek, or, if you’re feeling brave, take a dip where the creek bends into a small pond. Our property adjoins the public lands of the Ellis Hollow Community Center and is across the street from the popular hiking trails of the Ellis Hollow Nature Preserve. Enjoy the natural beauty, relax by the fire, walk to scenic views of Cascadilla Creek, or, if you’re feeling brave, take a dip where the creek bends into a small pond. This site is good for tent camping, campers or for large self driven RVs or pull behind RV trailers, with plenty of room for parking and turnaround. Extra tents may be erected. There are are no electric or plumbing utilities onsite. There is one composting toilet, but no shower facilities. Generators may be used. The sight has a campfire ring, free firewood and a table with 4 chairs. The owners will not disturb you at your camping site but may use the south end of the lot near the pond. We are a dog-friendly location. Off-leash is okay, as long as your dog responds reliably to recall commands and is friendly with children and small dogs. The owners have two small dogs who are occasionally off-leash. Looking to explore off-site? Ithaca: Cascadilla Meadow is located just 5 minutes from Cornell University and 10 minutes from all downtown Ithaca has to offer. Ithaca is well known for its many incredible restaurants, Farmers Market, local stores and art, theatre, wineries and breweries and of course, live music. Finger Lakes: In just 10-20 minutes from this location, you will find an abundance of waterfalls including Ithaca Falls, Buttermilk Falls and Taughannock Falls. Cayuga Lake is great for Sailing, kayaking and paddle boarding. Lake swimming is available at Myers Park in Lansing or Taughannock State Park outside of Trumansburg. Jump off a diving board into the pool at the bottom of Lower Treman Falls or hike upper Treman to Lucifer Falls, possibly the most beautiful short hike you’ll ever find. The area has hundreds of incredible hiking trails to choose from. Plus, Seneca Lake and the Finger Lakes Wine Trail are just a bit farther west! Biking: The roads of the Ellis Hollow area are popular with cyclists, while nearby Yellow Barn Forest, Hammond Hill and Shindagin Hollow are popular spots for mountain biking. Full disclosure: Cascadilla Meadow’s RV parking is close to a moderately used local road. Tall power lines cut across this lot. We are also located the equivalent of a city block from a natural gas transfer station. We feel the benefits of solitary parking and the natural beauty of this area outweigh the small downsides of this location.

This place is a gem. Multiple camping spots to choose from. Great location, close to Ithaca, but still out there enough to get a great view of the stars. We tend to not visit the same place twice, but if we are ever in this area again I would not hesitate to book here again.

Great camp spot

Great location just 10 minutes outside of downtown Ithaca. Great open space, level, scenic, the owner provides fire wood, drinking water, and a camp toilet. All very thoughtful and convenient. Would absolutely stay again.

Wildflowers and swimming hole

Beautiful field of wild flowers with trails leading back to a stream and little swimming spot. Janelle was more than accommodating with fire wood and water. Location is very close to downtown Ithaca as well as the nearby hikes and gorges. Perfect spot to camp out, would and will stay again.

Cascadilla Meadow campsite was just perfect for me. Well kept, mowed, convenient access to road, a beautiful trail, and a perfect camping toilet. Janelle was more than helpful and provided firewood, 4 gallons water, and a picnic table. Would definitely visit again.

Excellent Hipcamp Site

Excellent Hipcamp site. Large, open, flat grassy campsite with some nice perks including a good supply of split firewood, kindling and water to put the fire out when done. Also, a table and plenty of chairs. It’s a little outside of town, but not too far, so it was quiet and private. We come to Ithaca pretty often and we’ll definitely stay here again. This was our 4th Hipcamp site and, the second in Ithaca, and it was the best so far.

Very pleasant spot!

Very pleasant stay! This was our second stay at this location, and we hope to return again and again. Private, spacious, and nicely appointed. We even got to watch a pileated woodpecker.

Cascadilla Meadow Camping

Quiet, Private, and Helpful.

Hosts was very helpful and accommodating, and communication was very easy. Wide, clean space, but close enough to the road to have no trouble in or out. Other houses around but no one bothered us. If it rains (as it does likes to do around Ithaca) bring your tarps, and boots. We'd definitely stay here again.

Awesome place and great hosting! We book it last min and Janelle was so helpful get everything setup before we arrived. She even help us started the campfire, our kids love their fist campfire. Definitely recommend and will visit back. Thank you for the great hospitality!

Cascadilla Meadow Camping

Delighful place off the beaten path

The site was perfect for our purposes. Private, easily accessible, and nicely appointed. Potable water and firewood were provided as were camping chairs, a table, and dining chairs. Walking trails on site and hiking trails across the road made for good move-about options without having to drive to trail heads elsewhere. Janelle (our host) was accessible and responsive via text. The grassy meadow was level, making our camper set up super easy. The fire-ring was delightful - as I can also say for our entire experience at Cascadilla Meadow. It was so nice that we decided to stay an additional day.

Cascadilla Meadow Camping

Rained, but not rained out - a

Cascadilla Meadow has it all: a small mysterious woods, a chattering creek, various paths through wildflowers growing over your head leading to a large duck pond and, of course, the meadow where you can set up camp and sit around a campfire. If this is not enough, Ellis Hollow Nature Reserve is directly across the street with its forest trails. And the city of Ithaca is nearby. Host Janelle is the best: helpful, friendly and generous. Worthwhile just to meet her.
