We are a working farm but, much of our property is not grazed or farmed. You are welcome to explore the entire area while also getting a glimpse of sustainable, pasture-based, farming methods. Please do not enter the animal enclosures or touch any of the electrified fence lines. Red House Ranch is also the perfect spot for wildlife enthusiasts and bird watchers. During your stay you may encounter eagles, blue herons, coyotes, turtles, wild turkeys, foxes, the endangered bobolink bird (its unique call sounds a bit like R2D2), deer, great horned owls, and many unique plants. It's not uncommon to hear the coyotes howling at night. In addition to hiking trails with incredible views, there are four ponds on the property easily accessible with mown paths. One is very large with a dock and suitable for swimming, paddling, fishing, or just relaxing but the water. The other three are smaller and are now primarily wildlife habitat. easily accessible with mown paths If you're feeling adventurous, there is a more strenuous hike down into the creek bed where you can find miniature versions of the gorges and waterfalls that our region is known for. We are happy to provide maps and guidance or leave you to your own devices. When skies are clear our area has very little light pollution and excellent star visibility. 2 nights at Camp Earth Connection

We had the best time at Eshay's beautiful campsite. We would absolutely come again. It was just me and my two kids. The cabin was perfect, we felt safe, but also had our own space. It was so nice. The showers were a plus after hiking at buttermilk falls (highly recommend.) Was easy to make a fire in a pit, she sells wood on site. Also used the grill for dinner! Such a fun time.

We loved camping at the ranch over the holiday weekend. We had a nice spacious serene spot where our two 10 man tents that were shaded in the evening, and we got to fall asleep to the babble of the creek. We walked up the creek to the swimming hole and took a wonderful and refreshing dip at the swimming hole where we got to hang out with other fellow hip campers and Dwayne himself! We had an amazing family weekend and made a few new friends. I would definitely recommend this spot for family camping weekends, and my family cannot wait to get back!

My family of four had a wonderful stay at this little getaway place of Mike and Laurel's! The hosts are super friendly and welcoming. This is the second time my family and I stayed on Dwayne’s land. This has become a new favorite camping location for us. The camp is dog friendly and sites are distant from one another, allowing for privacy but the campers and dogs can all mingle together at the swim hole/creek. There are gorgeous farm animals that are friendly and enjoy eating carrots if you happen to bring some along! Dwayne is an incredibly generous, friendly and approachable host. He genuinely cares about how your camping experience went and makes his rounds to make sure each site is alright! The camp is easily accessible and is about 15-20 minutes from Watkins Glen. Staying at Tempest Ranch Camp is no doubt worth the stay from wherever you may be traveling from. We cannot wait to stay again in the future!

Amazing stay at Tempest Ranch! Dwayne was a wonderful host and so friendly. The farm had everything we needed and then some. Horses, friendly dogs, streams, trails to walk, beautiful fields, a swim hole, a small pond where my teens canoed. We liked it so much we stayed an extra night! All the other campers were really friendly and made the trip that much better. We adventures to Watkins Glen and Ithaca by day but always made it back in time to enjoy the farm life. We will definitely come back and stay when we are in the area! Our campsite was Tipi By The Stream right next to one of the horse pastures. Highly recommend Tempest Ranch!

1 night at Tryals Park Camp & Obstacle Course

I Trail Run with my partner Buddy- Border Collie. I want to do OCR someday and this place caught my eye. Booked this so that my new girlfriend could see what Buddy and I do all the time- and where she could watch easily. This Obstacle Course is set up with 'points-to-get-gates' for MotoTrial dirt bikes. It was perfect for Trail Running and OCR practice. I ran/climbed the harder white line gates a few loops when we got there. Later Buddy and I walked together with my girlfriend the easier Orange Line gates under the lights. It was a great place for short course training and having a great time with a non-runner. Had the Course to ourselves. Off-Leash for Buddy was primo so he could run(and jump) the course with me. Hilltop camping great view. Eyesite to other sites- but far enough from other sites. Will come again when Mike changes to new Course Section Markers for his next Event. He's offered me my own Scorecard and to devise some parameters for myself. We plan to stay in Barn next time which Laurel showed us. Looks good. Mike apologized that some areas of Course were between mowing rotation. Looked fine to me. Place is well kept. We were invited to have wild black raspberries growing in Section 5. My girlfriend loved that. Hosts are honest, old-school, old-fashioned, courteous people. Available when we had a question- then disappeared for our privacy rest of time. Refreshing. Price so cheap for what's all here. No other place like this around that I know of.

The fireflies were incredible, and it was great spot (I did make liberal use of my bug spray to properly enjoy the hammock). Very kind hosts with great recommendations for the area, the whole stay was a treat :)

Beautiful views, close enough to Watkins Glen but far enough so that you don't hear much commotion. Dwayne is lovely and inspiring. The swimming hole I'd refreshing and clean. The symphony of birds every morning was amazing and we saw deer. Can't forget to mention the friendliest donkeys I've ever met live at tempest ranch. Not many bugs for mid summer either! It's a peaceful place, highly recommend to like minded nature lovers.

We absolutely loved our experience at Meadow Hawk Farm! If you’re on the fence about booking, do it! This was our first time using HipCamp and we were so pleased. The property was so peaceful and serene. We walked around and explored a bunch and had fun in the creek. The actual camping spot was huge. Their dog Lucy was so sweet and a great guard dog! Saw tons of cute bunnies, some snakes, salamanders at the creek. The hosts were helpful and friendly but gave you plenty of privacy. The site was very far from their house. The fireflies put on quite a show every night, I have never seen so many at once. It was like hundreds of cameras flashing at the same time all night long ❤️ My one suggestion is if there are women in your camping group who may need the bathroom overnight, bring a toilet setup of some sort because it’s a bit farther than to the real bathroom than you would probably want to walk in the night! And make sure you bring filled water bladders with you to have at your site 😊 This place is a true gem, I highly recommend it!!

Weekend Trip to Mission Hemlock Grove

The pavilion was great after we spent quite a bit of time cleaning up after other campers or events. We actually set up our tents under it since it rained. Unfortunately, there is no swimming in Hemlock Lake, so we had to drive quite a way to find a swimming hole. Getting water was kind of a pain. The hose outside the main buildings was never turned on and we had to bother people to let us in the building to fill water containers. The dogs loved being off leash when we were at camp. The place is quite fascinating, but needs some major cleaning up.

Waterfall Creek

This is a beautiful piece of property located in the heart of the Finger Lakes and Wine Country of NY. It features a stunning spring fed waterfall and nice forest land. Very close to town but also very secluded and private. Great place to unwind and relax from our everyday lives. It is situated however in a gully next to a creek and waterfall so it is susceptible to heavy rains. It is recommended to at least have an AWD vehicle if rainy. I can usually help campers with getting to the site in my side X side if you need to park up at the pasture. Please order enough wood initially as I have found I spend a lot of time delivering extra wood to campers. It seems as if you will typically go through 2 bundles per night on average. Also I supply a contractor size garbage bag to you if you choose garbage removal. It is also a good idea to text me when you have a solid ETA so I can be here to take you to the site. I want to mention that the two sites closest to the waterfall are a slight hike in and can only accommodate up to 4 person tents so if a bigger group or vehicle camping you will be placed at another site. There are State Parks and places to hike one of the many gorges around beautiful Seneca Lake and surrounding area. Take a tour of the many wineries and breweries which our region is famous for. Enjoy hiking, swimming, biking, kayaking, and many historical sites to see. Our reviews tell it all. We know you'll love it here :) *PLEASE NOTE: Our sites are custom made for TENT or CAR camping. Because we have "parking on-site", Large RVs, Campers (over 16'), and any 5th-wheel campers are very difficult to place since there are no easy ways to back in or turn around. We highly recommend "Havana Glen State Park" (same general area) for those types of camping units.

Trails everywhere. Towner's Country Paradise

Were 2 miles to the center of Ithaca where their is plenty to do including using the new bike share program and waterfront trails. Come hungry, Ithaca has more restaurants per capita than either NYC or LA.!! WE ARE BOTH PRO CANADA AND LGBTQ supportive :) Were also just 12 min across town to Cornell University and Ithaca College and 5-20 minutes from numerous amazing waterfalls. The available half bathroom is in the main house, just seconds from the cabin and is open to use 24 hrs. there is Not a shower in it, but you can wash up with hot water and soap, hand towels available as needed. if your staying multiple nights and would like to use the shower just let us know and well work out a time. The bunkhouse has 2 twin mattresses in the loft, and several blankets & pillows, but you need to BRING YOUR OWN SHEETS and pillow CASES as you wish. There is good A/C! Firewood is $5 per fire, starters materials included, marshmallows are in the end table drawer! You can select the campfire wood option here or pay in cash in the cabin. Bring your own fire wood and pay nothing. If you need any help starting a fire, we can do that. We have a sweet fluffy orange cat who roams the property. About the Property: Our unique property boasts quiet camping on a beautifully manicured MotoTrials Riding and Obstacle Play Course. 2025 marks our first year offering camping to the public, and we look forward to HipCampers joining us in our unique venue. All 4 camping sites are nestled into the Obstacle course. Trials riders and non-Trials Riders alike will find much to enjoy here. Campers unfamiliar with Trial are welcome to take advantage of a Lesson on one of our Rental Bikes, while the Obstacle Course is also super-fun on foot (for walks or runs), mountain bike, trials bicycle, or for playing with your RC rock climber! We have night lighting to turn on at your request, even if just to sit in the evening and enjoy the lights reflecting off the pond-We surely do! We are located on NY 38 but our traffic is low (Log and Milk Trucks, Farm Tractors and Commuters). It is very peaceful here. Your camping can be as private, quiet and leisurely as you wish. The views and big sky are gorgeous in our corner of farm country. Our small pond provides entertainment w/ turtle sunbathing raft and lots of nature's visitors. (Canoe available) Pets are always welcome off-leash if you are comfortable. About the Trials Riding: We host 6 Mototrial events each season (see below) and if spectating appeals, you can plan your trip to coincide. You're in for a treat if you've never seen these nimble motorcycles do their 'thing'... up, over, and around the obstacles. Events are busy and exciting, but no worries (!) trials bikes are not loud and riders are friendly and considerate. If spectating is not your thing- no worries either. Non-event days are very laid back. On any given day if Trials riders come here (just to practice or instruction with Mike) it's not loud or invasive, nor interferes with any camper training or playing on the course. When riders are here (barring events), it is typically only 2-4 riders at a time. Multiple activities co-exist quite nicely here as there is plenty of room for all. There are many days no one is on the course at all (!) and you may have it all to yourself or possibly with another camper. Hope to see you in our slice of heaven! Keuka Lake sits in the heart of wine country in upstate New York. The lake has plenty of hiking trails, boat launches, and docks plus some handy nearby campgrounds. Take a kayak, canoe, or motor boat onto this gentle lake for a day.

Reel in your dinner, swim in the blue waters, or cool off in the summer sun. Relax and eat lunch at one of the picnic areas and pavilions that overlook the lake. Several outfitters can hook you up with a boat of your choice if you want to pack light. In the winter, bike paths turn into fun cross-country skiing and snowmobile trails.

When you're done communing with nature for the day, share a bottle of wine with someone. A winery tour adds a bit of romance to your getaway.

Campsites sit on a bluff overlooking the lake. There are 150 tent sites and 53 with electric hookups.

Tips for snagging a campsite

You can reserve one of 150 campsites at Keuka Lake State Campground via the Reserve America website.
Online reservations open nine months in advance and can be made up until 3pm on the day of arrival.
Campsites can book up fast for summer and holiday weekends, so book at least three months in advance.

When to go

Camping season at Keuka Lake State Park runs from mid-May through mid-October, the best time for swimming and water activities. The small beach can get busy during summer and holiday weekends, so arrive early to snag a picnic bench. No vehicle fee applies outside of this period. Hiking trails transform into snowshoeing and cross-country ski trails during the winter months.
