    Pondside Single and the lower part of my property were decimated in the catastrophic floods of Hurricane Helene, September 27, 2024. The 1st three photos are what it looks like now. Please know that we (and Bee Tree Valley) are still in the recovery phase, and it will take *years* to recover. Pondside Single still has the electric hookups and wifi that folks enjoyed. But it is no longer a tucked away, private, sweet and comforting place to camp. Please take this into account if you would like to book with us. Pondside Single pond was originally a small quarry outlier for Grove Stone Quarry in Black Mountain. There are many small quarries in this area that were dug in the 1940s and 1950s. After they finished their work, reclamation was done, and the quarries were filled in by the streams and tributaries which flow down this valley. It is a very shallow pond which offers sanctuary to birds, fishes, salamanders, frogs, snapping turtles, beaver and otters. I have installed a Clemson Beaver Pond Leveler at the overflow. This device tricks the Beavers and they can not hear or feel the water flowing out of the pond. It has been in place for 3 years and works like a charm. Beavers are very industrious creatures.RVs welcome at this single site beside our pond. An easy flat approach to camp site. My truck and trailer are 47', and I can easily back in. 35' Class A's have an easy time, too. Mountain views in the background. Birds and ducks, the occasional beaver or bear. Asheville is 20 minutes to the West and Black Mountain is 15 minutes to the East. They both offer a host of activities, extra nice local brews, yummy foods, and/or musing among the galleries, take a stroll in town, or a hike in the National Forests. Pondside Single is the perfect place to spend a quiet evening after a day exploring the surrounding area.

    Peaceful Spot,Great View!

    Stayed at Karen’s pond side single for 2 nights. Such a peaceful enjoyable place to stay. Karen is a Great host & keeps the campsite in tiptop shape. Our 26 ft. travel trailer was no problem to get in & set up. Site is level & no blocks were needed for leveling. Great little getaway but close grocery & restaurants if needed. Minutes to Asheville. Will be staying there again.

    Cozy beautiful site full of life

    Karen’s site is adorable. The pond hosts so much life. It’s a pleasure to just sit and enjoy. The light changes the effects throughout the day. The little paths allow you to enjoy the wild flowers and the bees. Have not seen so many hummingbirds before. And, we saw bears too. We were all respectful of each other and we were very sure to keep our food put away. Karen is just wonderful. She shared tomatoes and sweet well water with us. Wifi is perfect to plan for excursions. Black Mountain has so much to offer. Food, beer and strolling along the shops. We visited Asheville, Lake Lure and Lake James. Will return to explore even more!

    The Mountain View over the pond is second to none!!! Super nice set up, with location of fire pit, power and picnic table. A lot of time and energy, was put into grounds, & host, was very nice. Amazing location, with small country church next door, privacy, and safety. Just a great overall experience.

    Amazing spot! What a find! Karen, the owner, stopped by the morning after we got in to check on us, and she was so friendly and warm. The spot itself is private right on a pond. Beautiful view. And so close to the city of Asheville.

    We loved the Pondside Single site! Less than 20 minutes to DT Asheville yet the site feels remote. We saw two bears just up the road from the site when we were driving out. Will definitely be back!

    This is a really pretty hideaway nook beside a pond, tucked into the mountains. The camp spot is well maintained and easy to access. I look forward to visiting again soon!

    Perfect spot to visit the surrounding areas. Karen was excellent to communicate with. This spot was very quiet and lots of fire flies. It rained the two nights we stay but stilled enjoyed. Excellent WiFi !! Would recommend.

    A must stay near Asheville

    We are repeat visitors to Pondside. Every time we come, the site is always clean and well prepared. We are always awe struck by the location. The drive there has beautiful views, as well as the site. It's a very convenient location near Asheville, Black Mountain and the surrounding mountains. Karen as always is the best host!

    Wonderful, peaceful nature spot! Easy to find and good setup - had no trouble parking my 23 ft trailer. Spacious grassy area with good shade and view of the pond, trees, and hills. Jumping fish and frogs in the ponds. Karen came by to check on us and make sure we were all set. Enjoyed many hours just sitting and relaxing. Also close to Black Mountain and good hiking! Hoping to book again!

    Reluctantly, left Pondside Single this morning after spending three lovely days and nights here. If you crave a serene spot with no neighbors, where fireflies and stars provide the evening show, this is the place for you. One of the most perfect spots we have camped.

    We loved our experience at Karen’s Pondside Single! The location is exceptionally private and serene overlooking the pond and surrounding mountains. It’s conveniently located, easy to find, and you really get the whole place to yourself (also really good wifi). 10/10 will return.

    We love this spot, aka “WiFi in the woods.” Ha! Close to Black Mountain and Asheville, but feels private. The 30/50amp plug and WiFi are really nice to have.

    Very cool spot with awesome views. I thought the bugs would be bad beside the pond, but they really weren't a problem at all! The spot can be visible from the curch at some angles so don't go sinning out there. ;) lol Great vibes from host and the spot is great for many different types of campers. Only about 25 min to downtown asheville.

    Little Slice of Heaven

    This spot is a slice of heaven! The lush green landscape is eye-popping and blue sky against clouds is magical! Pond has a lot of life in and around it and cool to observe. The fire pit is large as is the space. I had no trouble backing in my 16 1/2' TT. The spot was level side-to-side...no adjustment needed! Swannanoa is great location for easy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Black Mountain in the other direction. The Warren Wilson public trails nearby are phenomenal! (Trailhead across from Berea Baptist Church on Riceville Road.) Karen was a great host and was eager to make sure I had everything I needed. Thank goodness she had firestarter...! This is a beautiful spot for peace and quiet. Thank you Karen for making this beautiful place available to others!

    Relaxing pondside retreat!

    Karen’s place was an awesome stay! She was kind, welcoming and accommodating to our schedule. Her instructions were clear and we had no issues finding it. The place itself was so peaceful - quiet, sunny, pondside view, few people around. We had a little trouble backing our 34 ft travel trailer with our 20 ft truck into the spot. We could have done it better by walking the area first and deciding on the angle beforehand. There is plenty of room to move around, and once we got settled everything was great. Wifi was very fast - better than most RV parks and we were able to telework easily (Teams meetings, calls, emails) and without a single problem. Cell service is poor (AT&T) but we found that to be a benefit that allowed us to disconnect. 5 minute drive down the road and we had service again if needed. The location is great. You feel out in the country, but you’re 10 minutes from town (grocery store, CVS, general small town shopping/amenities), 15 minutes from downtown Black Mountain and 25 minutes from downtown Asheville. Highly recommend and we hope to visit again!

    Nice spot not too far from Hwy 40. Close to road but not much traffic after dark. Frogs and night life love serenading you. Saw either a small beaver or fresh water otter in the pond. Gobblers off in the distance.

    Very beautiful spot, private and quiet. Level pad with electric. Lots of wildlife, we saw - otters, ducks, geese, hundreds of butterflies and dragonflies. Overall I would recommend.
