Weekend Trip to Private meadow and pond

We arrived on Friday and were delighted to see the open fields, rolling hills and colorful canopy of fall trees. The fire ring, picnic table, and garbage were all conveniently located by the campsite. Setting up was easy and most of the land is flat, but not level. My dogs LOVED swimming in the pond and the hot outdoor shower was a plus for clean-up. Phillip and his wife were delightful hosts and Luna is a sweet pup. We will definitely return!

1 night at Kerr Lake Glamping at Holly Forest

We stayed at the screen house for one night and wish we could have stayed another night. The screen house itself was top notch… secluded yet close to the main area, clean, well maintained, and cozy. Jim and Becky did a great job of adding conveniences to the experience with heated beds, battery for charging, lighting, cooler with ice, bathhouse, cooking area with seating, and more. There are a few different options for accommodations including glamping tent, screen houses, and a cute little cabin with a loft. This is a great place for a group. They can cook together and enjoy the community space, very cozy. We will be back.

Mike was great checking us in and showing us around. Spot was perfect for tents, 2 small and 1 large. Wooded area on a “peninsula” with the creek wrapping around you. Was just Dad, his daughters and their dogs and we all had a great time. Especially the dogs in the creek. Outhouse is easy and quick to get to, kids could go in their own without worry. Saw some vehicles at another spot up from us, but never saw the campers or heard them. Great spot.

Bekah's camping site was beautiful, my tent was in a circle of trees, pines and hardwoods. The gentle breezes set the stage for a truly relaxing couple of days. Lots of birds to listen to, not buggy, in beautiful meadow. I would definitely stay again. Bekah was warm and friendly, letting me know where to find local services and that she was home and nearby if I had any questions. Just lovely.

I found this camping option when looking for a place that had a shelter we could camp under. My daughter and I go camping every fall and the night we were supposed to go camping it was supposed to rain, a lot. And it did. I reached out to Emma to see if we could secure a cover to place our tent under and she had one available. The location was cool, as it's about 150 yards from the Neuse River Greenway. They also have horses, so my daughter was thrilled to pet them. We fished some in the river and caught one fish. James, Emma's son, I think, met us when we arrived and showed us to our site. He's great and seemed excited we were there. He was helpful in giving us the lay of the land. Overall it was a great experience. The heavy rain on the tin roof of the cover kept us up most of the night but it was better than a wash out. I think we'll camp here again, but we do like to experience new places, so it may be a couple of years. I do highly recommend trying it out if you're looking for a place. It was unique (in a good way) and a good change from somewhere like Falls Lake campground.

Long private driveway. 3+ miles of private maintained walking trails great for human and dog guests! There are a number of creeks that run on the property and a decent size pond with many species of birds- perfect for watching while having a morning coffee, or for an afternoon stint of fishing. Close proximity to downtown Carrboro and Chapel Hill (12-15 minutes), 15 minutes to downtown Hillsborough, and 25 minutes to Durham.

Back to the basics, come and experience Tar River Life’s primitive camping on the Tar River. Enjoy being on the river and listening to slow running sound of the Tar River. Bring your own tent or rent one of ours. You can drive your vehicle to all of our campsites. The drive to camp is about 1/2 miles. Each site includes a fire pit, wood and trash bin. Cook your own meals or try and catch your own fish from the river. Campsites can be secluded or grouped. Each site comes with a picnic table, 1 bundle of wood and trash can. The Saxapahaw Country Club is a beautiful 31-acre working farm and event space. Located just a few minutes from Saxapahaw Village, it's a convenient and gorgeous place to stay. While we are happy to be a late-night crash spot for after shows at the Haw River Ballroom, we hope you stay a minute to walk the fields, hang in the hammocks, sit by the pond, or take a swing from the branches of our 200 year old White Oak tree. You'll come down our curvy driveway through the trees, and see our event barn on the left. In front of the barn is a communal space for campers to enjoy with a great view. This area has a fire pit, chairs, wood-fired grill, handwashing station, and farm table. The shared outhouse/composting toilet is next to the pine stand with a white roof. Residents only have a short drive to escape the hustle and bustle of the concrete jungle to the peaceful forests of Falls Lake. The woodlands here are extensive, filled with tons of hiking and mountain biking trails. But if peace is really what you’re after, plop down in a camping chair along the lake, bait a line and kick back while you wait for a fish to bite.
