If you're visiting the Triangle or Triad area, this spot could easily be a great home base. Full hookups (electric, water, and sewer) with plenty of room for even the longest rigs, it's quiet at night and the neighbors are very friendly. Wake up to the sound of roosters and an explosion of birds, and fall asleep with fireflies dancing in the woods outside your window.
I'm a full time traveler and from Chapel Hill, so stayed here a month visiting family and friends. James and his family (and chickens!) were a delight and I highly recommend his place on your next stop in the area.
Less than an hour from Chapel Hill, Durham, Raleigh, Greensboro, High Point, and Winston-Salem. 40min to RDU.

Absolutely beautiful spot! 🌲 The scenery is stunning, peaceful, and the whole area feels tucked away from the world. It’s incredibly quiet — the perfect place to relax and take in God’s creation. 🙌
You can definitely hear a shooting range in the distance, but it’s not overwhelming — just part of the charm of the area. And yes, the local rooster makes sure you don’t oversleep! 🐓😂
Overall, a wonderful stay — we’ll definitely be back! 🏕️🔥

The site is pretty level. Very quiet until 630am when the chickens and roosters decide it is time for everyone to wake up. You also hear the shooting at the gun range as the host has stated. Excellent place to view the stars. Where else can you get full hookups outside of a campground.
Definitely a must stop if you are in the area.

We spent one night in our Class B vehicle en route to visit relatives in Durham. The site was clean, level, and easy to reach using the directions we were provided. Although there was a gun range nearby, we did not hear any activity during the night, only during mid-morning prior to our departure. Otherwise, the site’s residential location was very quiet. The host communicated promptly and courteously throughout our booking and the power, water, sewer, and wi-fi connections he provided were top notch. We greatly appreciated his sharing his property with us!

Large pull thru pretty level (-1) and just gets better and better! Our AT&T & T-mobile hotspots, Haw River wifi and our AT&T cell service also worked well full bars. Can easily stream and work here.
Wake up with the roosters and fall asleep to the sounds of frogs and crickets while you count the stars. It is a peaceful nights rest.
Friendly neighbors, lots of side roads for walking yourself and Fido!
Not only full F/U's deep well water, garbage, firewood, fire pit, and a little dog area. This family is 100% chemical free. Do not use chemicals on the grass, or in your black & grey tanks. if you run your diesel (for heat) beware of the chickens, you could poison them.
You can hear the the Durham Pistol & Rifle Club about a mile away but it is far enough it is a dull sound. Still worth it to snag this little bit of heaven.
We stayed for a couple of weeks and it was incredibly enjoyable. If we are in the area, we will back, but, I suspect it will be hard to get a reservation once word gets out! Thank you James for sharing your little slice of life!

My father and I had a great time staying at James's site. we only needed a place to crash while on our way down the east coast even on a late notice and this was perfect for just that. James helped and was in touch with me the whole day while I booked for that same night. the site layout is nice and very clean. Don't be mislead by the name hawks river camp though just know it is not actually next to a river that is the only thing worth pointing out! we will definitely not hesitate to stay again here!

The campsite was great, neighborhood was safe. Campsite was gravel, had water, sewer, electric, trash can, picnic table and fire pit with fire. And one of my favorite things ..the grass was freshly mowed. The site was located in a residential neighborhood and the neighborhood itself was quite. There was a gun range close by and the popping scared the dogs, just to be aware. We did stay on a weekend so it might not be as noisy during the week. Breweries within 30 minutes or so. We chose this site because the KOA in Greensboro was right on I-40 and we like quite.

Clean, quiet, great spot - as advertised. Host had good, quick communication 👍🏼.
We messed up and made a right onto Meriwether Lane (so the spot was on our right), which made for a tight turn! If your hookups are on the driver’s side - be sure to follow the directions James sends and enter from the other direction as it makes the left turn into the spot far simpler! 😊

This was exactly what we needed for a short stay near Mebane. The site was clean and exactly as described. The hookups, amenities, etc. all look fairly new. We used the 30 amp electric and it worked well, along with the wifi. The weather was cold and nasty so we didn't get to spend any time outside but the fire pit and picnic table looked like a nice spot. The space was so quiet and peaceful in the evenings, and it's located right between Mebane and Saxapahaw. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

Such a nice quiet site! James was super helpful and accommodating. Very nice set up with a fire pit, picnic table, electrical hookup, etc. Our van is only 20 ft but there is room for a much larger rig. We arrived in the evening and it was super easy to set up when we arrived. Definitely will reserve again when we’re back in the area!
