Free camping for volunteers. The Spruill Farm belonged to the Spruill Family for over a hundred years and has been set up as conservation easement protected land in '23. It includes hardwood forest, swamp, a beautiful swimming beach* on the Albemarle Sound - one of the largest freshwater sounds in the world-, acres of farmland, vegetable garden and perhaps the largest fig orchard for hundreds of miles around. The purpose of the Spruill Farm is to further environmental research, promote ecological education and sustainable practices, and provide access for the public to the ever-diminishing shoreline experience. Please enjoy the incredible sunsets and woodland views, while respecting the serenity of this unique gem on the inner-banks. Wildlife on the property include Red Fox, River Otter, and 95 species of birds, including Bald Eagles (2 nests on the farm), nesting Osprey, Wood Ducks. Visit the 'Spruill Farm Conservation Project' on inaturalist(dot)org to see all 95 species, and upload any images from your observations. Because it is a nature preserve, please read the guidelines and rules closely if you choose to book with us. *Note: the shoreline changes with the wave action and the seasons. Please read the entire listing because I have updated this page. The booking is for 2 people, any guest after the initial 2 or pet will be $10 per night. Add them as extra guests Pull down a paved road and get out of your car and sit down at a picnic table in front of a private waterfall! This site has a pull through, full hookup spot with 30amp for campers but tents are always welcome or a combination of the two. I've had a 33' camper, popup camper and 6 tents at this campsite all at the same time so there plenty of room for your family and friends! We're 2.5 miles from the Cherokee Casino and 3.5 miles from down town Cherokee If you're tired of crowded campgrounds then you'll love the privacy this campground offers. This is now a two site campground with each site being around 100' away from the other site with trees and vegetation growing in between, you more or less cant see on site from the other from May until November. There is a orange cone that marks the border of the two sites. One set of campers will not be allowed on the other campers campsite, if this happens you will be evicted with no refund. Check in is at 2pm and check out is at 12pm. No shooting firearms, (although you may hear people shooting firearms because you will be camping in the mountains) but your more than welcome to bring your firearms. Its better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. No fireworks. No making trails or collecting firewood (This is not because I want to sell you firewood, its because I want to have the property remain as pristine as possible) Do not cut down trees alive or dead If you move picnic tables please move them back Dogs are permitted but message me first to see if your do will be a good fit. There is a small Church around 200 yards from the campground. They hold services every Wednesday and Sunday. They generally start around 5pm and it lasts around a hour. If your into that they would love to have you come down. The EBCI opened a dispensary around 3 miles from the campground. It will open to all adults over 21 starting September 7th 2024. Eden Oaks Vineyard & Campground was a tobacco farm (antique tobacco barn still on property). The house was built in 1910 and has been updated. We purchased it in 2014 and converted it into a vineyard. We have RV sites with 50 amp and 30 amp electric hookups and water, and tents sites. For 2023 our rates are $30/night for RV Sites (50 amp or 30 amp electric hookups and water) and $25/night for Tent Sites. Tent sites do not have electricity or water hookups, but water is available at the well. (Due to inflation, 2024 our rates will be $30/night for RV Sites, $25/night for Tent Sites.) We do not have a dump station, but we do have a Port A John and a list of dump stations nearby. Campfires are allowed unless we have a state issued burning ban. Campers are responsible for controlling and extinguishing fires. Please be extremely careful during dry or drought conditions. Conveniently located one mile from Hwy 421 but remote and peaceful with plenty of room to roam on our 22 acres with grapevines, fruit trees, forest, creeks, fields, goats, Beagle and Jackabee (Beagle/Jack Russell) dogs, cows, chickens, ducks and goats. Also, we have wildlife such as birds, squirrels, groundhogs, deer, raccoons, opossums, etc. We are about 15 miles from Wilkesboro and North Wilkesboro (home of the Merle Fest and Apple Festival). Eden Oaks is 18 miles from W. Kerr Scott Dam & Reservoir, 24 miles from Stone Mt. State Park, and 10 miles from Elkin (sponsors of the Wine Festival and Pumpkin Festival). Eden Oaks is in the heart of the Yadkin Valley and Swan Creek AVAs (American Viticultural Area). We're next door (3 miles) to Raffaldini and Piccione Vineyards. Take a day trip to Boone, Blowing Rock, Blue Ridge Parkway, Mt. Airy, Winston-Salem, Charlotte or additional areas of interest. We love it here and would like to share it with you. Learn more about this land: Shaded and semiprivate in woods with creek on property. Located on a working vineyard in the Swan Creek AVA. Primitive camp sites with campfire pits. Water, garbage cans, some sites have electricity available. We offer individual sites of up to 4 people and group sites of up to 12 people. The stocked, spring fed pond is 'brimming" with angler challenges🎣 Our cows, pigs, sheep, donkeys, chickens, ducks, geese are all eager to meet you, as are we! My Neighbor has started his own Campsite, "The Swimming Hole". If mine is booked up and you still want to camp, look him up. His is better suited for small groups but has much more privacy. We have a new road to the campsite; you can now drive down with two-wheel drive vehicle or RV down and park near your tent! There is plenty of soft sand to set up one tent or ten tents; large groups are welcome for an extra fee. A Porta-Potty is available at the campsite. Swimming is usually possible at the base of the falls; however, large amounts of rain can change conditions and make it unusable. I should also add, this is not a completely private campsite deep in the woods. The camp is visible from a shared driveway, and my residence is up a hill that overlooks the area. Also, I do not own the land on the other side of the stream. Occasionally, the owners of that land will spend a weekend afternoon enjoying the waterfall view also. Still much quieter and more private than a regular campground. Glamping tents and additional camping tents are available through a local company. Look in the pictures for the tent with red, white, and blue balloons. Message me for details. Close to US National Whitewater Center (mountain biking, whitewater rafting, kayaking), Kings Mountain National Military Park (Horseback riding and history), Crowders Mountain (Hiking), 3 miles off of I-85 and US-321 for people passing through.

BEFORE YOU BOOK, PLEASE BE AWARE THAT SITES 8, 12, 13, 14, AND 15 ARE OUT OF RANGE OF THE WIFI. We have only site 1 that has full hookups. All the other sites are boondocking with water only.

Beautiful, private and somewhat enchanted. We felt such a sense of peace here. From the first contact with Mike, we knew it would be special. Large, private lots were scattered throughout the wooded area. Very well landscaped and looking forward to returning when everything is in bloom. If this is any indication of what our retirement will be like, we’re ready to explore now. A lot of love and care has built this place and it shows!

This campsite offers ample room for any size family or camping group. The grounds are safe, clean and comfortable, with electric hookups, hot showers, and a toilet—all while being surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of untouched wilderness. Being here brought back childhood memories of exploring and charting unknown territory. The peaceful waterfall sings a gentle lullaby each night, carrying you into the deepest sleep. There is truly no campsite that compares. My only complaint? I lost track of time. I enjoyed myself so much and felt so disconnected from the outside world that days effortlessly blended into nights before it was suddenly time to leave. This was my parents’ first-ever camping trip, and the host did not disappoint! He was readily available to help them hook up their new RV and made sure they felt at home. By the end of the stay, they felt like pros thanks to his guidance. You can’t go wrong with this site—book now and make those special memories. We are so glad we did!

Absolutely beautiful place. The pictures don't do it justice. Well spaced, generously sized sites, and clean, nicely maintained porta-john. The provided wipes are especially nice. The camp hostess rolls out the red carpet. We will definitely be coming back here.

We loved Black River Camping Ventures, it’s a most beautiful and serene landscape. Right on the river the views are magical. Walking up to the point and watching the sunset was a breathtaking moment. They have a lovely beach area to launch kayaks and some wonderful swamp and cypress areas to explore. Catfish in the river make fishing a fun time! The camping areas are large and each feature a fire ring with swing over cooking grate, trash can and picnic table. There are a couple of portable-John’s for use which are kept spotless. They even supply tissue, wipes and sanitizer! Mrs Lisa and Mr Eric were absolutely wonderful hosts, and made sure we had everything we needed for a fabulous time. We recommend very highly this camping site for fun family adventures.

Had a great time in cabin #2. This is a rustic cabin next to a stream. Waze GPS got us right to camp site. Tom the camp host greeted us shortly after we arrived and was so helpful on tips to keep cabin cozy. He also gave us a map and excellent directions to Dupont Forest. Camp restrooms/showers are a short walk from cabin. Port a potty even closer than restrooms. Camp ground has a good vibe. Front door didn't lock. Smore kit for extra fee was awesome, also some assorted snacks available. There is a small store nearby to get basics. No phone or internet service available at campground. Relax and unplug!

Weekend Trip to The Dancing Pig On Abbotts Creek

My best friend wanted to celebrate her birthday in nature, and this spot has been on my Hipcamp bucket list so we booked it for a girls’ trip, and it did not disappoint! The hosts make you feel welcomed while still giving you complete privacy. I’m honestly surprised this place isn’t listed under the stargazing category because it felt like we were in a dome, we saw so many constellations plus Jupiter and Saturn! The farm is clean, beautiful, and peaceful. The animals were adorable, but Jack was the star of the trip his perfectly timed laugh kept us cracking up all weekend. The greenhouse was awesome, but the outdoor shower was the true winner for all of us. The products were top-tier and the water pressure/temperature were perfect! This is a true hidden gem. We walked the on-site trail to Abbott’s Creek it’s HUGE, definitely kayak ready, and even good for fishing. The massive cypress trees along the water are breathtaking. We’re already planning more trips here because it’s perfect for everyone: families, couples, friend groups, or solo travelers. You don’t have to worry about ice, wood, or charcoal since you can buy them on-site, and if you don’t want to cook, you’re less than 5 miles from food and gas stations. Plus, so many attractions are nearby right now you can even visit the troll less than 20 minutes from the cabin! Highly recommend bringing a telescope. Thank you N & D for hosting us 10/10!

What an incredible find! This Hipcamp site delivered the perfect blend of secluded nature and premium comfort. It truly felt like a private, luxurious escape nestled in the woods. The covered amenity area was a game-changer. The rustic wood counter and comfy seating were great, and the patio heater made spending time outdoors cozy even on a chilly evening. The real highlight, though, was the hot tub—it was clean, and ideal for unwinding after a day of hiking.

Had a quick 1 night stay, last minute trip. Had a quick response to accept our reservation. Site 4 was perfect, easy to access, power and water on site. Great for our Sylvan GO popup. Roy greeted us on arrival and showed us around. He brought a nice size stack of firewood. He also borrowed us a 30A -> 110 adapter so we could plug an extension cord in. We enjoyed the visit in the morning from the donkey and cows. Beautiful property, great hosts, we'll stop back next year.

Our camping trip here was amazing from start to finish. The scenery was stunning — wide-open views, gorgeous stars at night, and the kind of peaceful atmosphere you can’t find just anywhere. We had an excellent time camping at Lil Snowbird Farm. The campsites were exceptionally clean and well kept. We stayed in site #6 along the river and it was just beautiful and felt very private! We enjoyed cooking over the campfire and eating at the picnic table. The host was amazing and ensured we had everything we needed. The camp toilets had their own small tent for privacy and even had small solar lights to help you find them in the dark. 10/10 would recommend camping here!
