La Fragua Farm in New Mexico

Host Nazca Warren says:

We are located along Highway 3 off of 1-25 on one of the oldest consistently farmed regions in the United States. Many of our neighbors also homestead. Our house is over 100 years old and was once used to make and sell bootleg liquor. Some of the owners have been contract farm laborers who would come back home on the off season to put more money and love into the house, as well as artists. When we discovered and fell in love with this area, the house was in need of complete repair and the property was overgrown and hadn't been used in 10 years. Over the course of the past 6 years, we have renovated the house, casita campers and WWOOFers stay in and are well on the road to being self-sufficient through farming only this small 1/2 acre plot of land. The area behind our property is open space, part of it is old Spanish land grant that was given to the founding families to farm in most cases they dry-farmed beans and then moved to other parts of the valley closer to the river to farm other times of the year. When we signed our sale documents there was still an original seal of Queen Isabella of Spain!
