It's a beautiful campsite on a lake, with horses roaming freely. "Retreat" is a bit of a stretch, it's a lovely spot let down by a couple of things. Pro's: - Beautiful setting - Lovely horses - a couple of kayaks available for use (although we didn't have time) Con's: - The toilet is a few minutes walk away from the campsite and in the back of a messy farmers shed, it was a bit gross - No potable water offered despite being listed as such - The route to the site is through the farmers poorly maintained horse yard, which is covered in scrap metal and various aged, rusty projects and dilapidated sheds, giving an an unwelcoming feel. - The site is very uneven, although there are a handful of flat spots. - It wasn't easy to find, the Google maps location took us to a property 500m up the road, double check with the owner! Overall, I don't feel its worth the $50 we paid, given the facilities and entrance. A bit of love to the yard could go a long way and we would happily pay $70+ if the above was remidied. Wouldn't recommend unless you were fully self contained.

Really pretty little place. Michael is super friendly and personally drives you to your site. Camps are set up far enough away from each other so you can easily enjoy the peace and tranquility. Lovely to see the horses roaming around the property. There is some highway noise but easy to ignore.

Overall we had a nice time at this location, however, the “flushable” toilet was available but not in good clean condition. We as a whole are happy to camp off grid, so it would have been better to have advertised as no amenities and we would have taken our own supplies. Pack plenty of repellent, the mosquitoes were out in force. Other than this, the property was lovely and it was great to see the horses within our paddock health and happy.

If you go here make sure you have your own toilet. The toilet offered is not even close to clean. There is lots of old equipment around wouldn’t recommend for more than a one night stay.

Nice and quiet site by the water. Met by owner to show us to site. Horses wandering around the field. Did hear a little traffic noise from the highway as well as nature but great for a one night stop.

This was a great little over night camp that we stayed at on our adventure north. Unfortunately the weather was not that kind to us during our stay but Michael advised us of the best location and position to set up our Swag so that we wouldn't be impacted so bad. I would have to say the best part of our stay was waking up to the horses wandering close by our camp and how quiet it was even though we were minutes from the main Highway

Was a lovely spot and would of happily returned but the owner unfortunately ruined it, shouted OI at my car as I drove through what looked like a scrap yard he then came over to my car with a attitude moaning that I was doing 100kph (I was basically rolling as I was looking where the entry was) he then took us to a tiny patch of grass next to a few sheds, didn’t show us any other options, I after went around the corner and found a big open area with a big pond and a few other campers scattered about with plenty of space (the site I booked) so I naturally moved to the better spot. Later that evening he returned, started arguing with me and my partner that we was “trespassing” we are “taking over the place” “you can’t just do what you like this is my land” I apologised and said I didn’t think it would be a issue we was just moving to a spot that looked more like the pictures, I paid $50 for a night I assumed moving 10m wouldn’t be a problem. Nice spot shame the owner was clearly having a bad day.

Seemed like a good place to go, unfortunately for us we were placed on a campsite that completely flooded due to the rain and we were ankle deep in water. We had to pack up within 2 hours of being there and leave because of the flooding.

We didn't stay. We went up to habitat noosa instead its cheaper has better facilities and has tours. They need to improve the facilities at wild house retreat. The host Michael was understanding but we did only talked on the phone . We were early that was my mistake. Maybe if wedid The property was nice .horses were everywhere.

When first looking at this place and its reviews, we wondered if we should try it out or pass. But I’m so glad we stayed here. Michael made us feel like old friends from the second we got to the gates. To drive down to the camp spots and see all his horses just roaming was absolutely amazing. We stayed right on the lagoon, plenty of room for our girls to play and also a shallow creek perfect to keep cool. We would absolutely stay here again 🤙🤙

Overpriced field with potholes

Don’t stay here. The area is beautiful and the little pond next to the camp is nice, but the ‘wild horse retreat’ is just a grass field full of potholes, the horses were all tied to posts, the toilet was filthy and could only be reached by stepping through and over a big mess in the shed, and the whole place just felt eerie. Only the dog was a cute host. I understand hipcamp is about staying in or near someone’s home, but don’t sell it as a ‘retreat’ when it is very clearly not. It definitely has potential for a beautiful hipcamp, but right now we could have saved ourselves the VERY overpriced $50 for this camp.

Michael was very welcoming upon arrival, and had many beautiful horses roaming around which we LOVED, beautiful small creek just down from our camp site. Super friendly farm puppy who was very happy to just hangout! Perfect overnight stay.
