Crooked Finger Farms has great history. The farm (and the road we are on) are named for
the legendary Chief Crooked Finger. Crooked Finger, (Loshuk) the Molalla Chief,
reportedly lived on the location that is now the farm and surrounding area, in
the 1850's.. This area is called Crooked Finger’s Prairie. Crooked Finger
Farm's two natural springs provided a fresh water source and there was ample
game, making this area an ideal safe haven for his people.
"Loshuk received his American name Crooked Finger when as a boy he was
playing with a rifle and it went off, disfiguring his hand. In his time he was
renowned for speaking against the American settlement of his land and set about
to harass Americans whenever he could as partial retribution for the losses his
tribe was sustaining.
'Loshuk' was tragically killed in 1853.

The Farm and surrounding acreage was homesteaded in the late 1850’s-1860’s.
You can still pick the fruit from the original heirloom apple and pear trees!
The Farm House, historic barn and outbuildings were built as a dairy in 1915.
Note of interest: There is a small graveyard located at the top of the
property dating from the 1870's
