My sister and I took a train ride to Milwaukee and stayed in Janis for 2 nights. We loved everything about our stay. Lexis was a wonderful host and everything that we could want was available for us. Janis is a gem...a true gem. The location was perfect for us. The neighborhood is charming, safe, felt vibrant and it was a cheap Uber to get downtown.

Absolutely loved this camper bus and the location within walking distance to so much shopping, restaurants and bars. It was cozy and very comfortable. Loved how Janis was decorated and styled. We did end up leaving a great vornado fan, but figure it’ll be use to the owners or people staying in the camper bus. 10/10.

This RV is a unique place to stay in a great neighborhood in southern Milwaukee. The self check-in process was easy. The inside of the RV is roomier than it looks. The surrounding neighborhood is great - many restaurants and bars are within walking distance.

I almost always travel via Hipcamp exclusively when able. So to find a site in the middle of Milwaukee instead of my mountains, lakes or forests, I was thrilled. A concert was on the itinerary and it was a perfect base camp.
The motorhome was perfect with the charm and attention to detail all over to take you back to 1970-something. We were comfortable. We felt safe. And it felt like home after the show.
We’re pretty simple in general and didn’t have a lot of time to make use of all the amenities, but everything was greatly appreciated.
Lexis’ mantra for the ‘camp site’ is dead on and I will definitely be back for my future adventures in Milwaukee.

We loved the urban camping vibe of Janis (RV with heart and soul) and the space around the site, with the fire and table options and the greater neighborhood and city offerings!
Lexi and partner were great hosts and have a special place they share with travelers.
Plan to be back and share the offering to close friends/family.

What a fun experience! Lexi has created such a cool space in this beautiful neighbourhood. It feels surprisingly private and is so unique. My husband and I were perfectly comfortable in the space, both inside the RV and in the outside space. I can highly recommend staying here and would definitely stay again.

This was our 2nd stay in Janis and it was just as amazing as the first. We were lucky enough to meet Lex this time and she is as friendly as all the reviews say.
Our accommodations were perfect, Janis is just so welcoming and comfy. Got a little cold at night when we blew a fuse and the space heater went out. But absolutely nothing a few extra blankets (which are provided) and extra snuggling couldn’t fix.
The location is perfect - we were able to walk to our favorite breakfast locations and specialty shops. Everything else we wanted to do was within quick driving distance.
Perfect weekend getaway - will absolutely be back for a 3rd time soon.

We are currently heading home from the most amazing weekend In Milwaukee. I can’t say enough about this town and words can’t express how perfect our accommodations were - Janice is an absolute treasure!!
From the moment we arrived we felt right at home. So many unique touches make Janice the perfect get away. Waking up to the church bells across the street each morning was a hidden surprise. We loved beginning our days with a walk to the coffee shop then heading back to eat outside at the picnic table in our private outdoor space and ending each day with a romantic fire before retreating to Janice for the night.
We spent our days visiting local breweries/distilleries (including several great suggestions by the hosts), vintage shops, eating amazing food and hours walking along the most beautiful beach I have even seen (would love to tell you where but it wouldn’t be right - you will have to schedule a visit to Janice for that information).
We had the opportunity to meet Aaron who made us feel at home and very welcomed on his property. Unfortunately, we were bummed that we did not get to meet Lexi this trip, however, she was still very attentive to our needs and answered any questions we had within minutes. Clearly, this just means that we will need to come back and meet Lexi on our next trip.
Thank you for a great weekend getaway. Janice and Milwaukee have definitely landed on our top 5 places to visit - we will be regulars for sure.

Awesome stay! “Janis” was so cute and full of many personal details that made the space feel super homey and special. The area was nice and centric to downtown Milwaukee and yummy food. Would totally stay here again next time I’m in the city!

This was my second trip to see Janis and per usual, she was relaxing, vibey and the bed is super comfortable! There is everything you need on Janis and Lexis is a wonderful host!! It will be my annual stop on the way to visit fam!!

Had the most incredible stay in Janis! Right when you walk through the doors you are transported back in time. It is in walking distance of so many great restaurants and coffee shops. The neighborhood is quiet for sleeping and the bed is so very comfortable. Had so much fun playing cards with the chiminea roaring and overall just hanging out outside and inside.
Lexi’s was the best host! She was so responsive & accommodating with any questions and things we needed. She also has an incredible vintage collection that we got to check out and even got some goodies!
Overall it was such an amazing stay and we will for sure be back!

Lexi's RV Janice, was a delightful place to stay. Super 70s vibe! Everyone on my instagram thought it was the coolest! The accommodations were so cute and the location was great! We had a fantastic time and loved the book about the RV and the suggestions that we received from the host about dining options. It was perfectly warm without the space heaters but they were provided in case. I was not adventurous enough to use the shower but the instructions looked clear and easy to understand. Great time with a really nice and responsive host!

Lexi’s 70’s motor home is the cutest! Stayed such a short time but the bed was comfy n space heaters came in clutch after getting caught in cold rain. Will have to come back to explore the area more n have a fire out back.

This was our second stay in Painted Desert. Last time was in the summer so we were a little worried about staying warm in mid-October. Despite being in the 40’s at night, it was very comfortable and our stay was even better than the last. Lex took good care of us and Bay View never disappoints. We can’t wait to go back.

Walkable energetic neighborhood; you can get food delivered if you don’t want to venture out. All of the comforts of home without any of the usual distractions. It’s the perfect cozy space to unwind and unplug. The patio area feels private and secure even though you’re in the heart of Bay View. I adored the aesthetic, and Lexis was an incredible host.

If you’re looking for comfortable glamping in a cool urban neighborhood, don’t miss out on this listing! The motor home “Janice” was spacious, had tons of period-specific /homey touches, and was completely unique! Very comfortable - tons of pillows, seating areas, and fans/vents to circulate air. Access to an indoor bathroom in a building less than 100 yards away was super convenient!
While I can wax poetic for a while on how great our stay was, I do have 2 gripes: 1) The was only one towel we could find for showering. It might to nice to have a couple more available? And 2) I wish the shower in the RV was explained more. Don’t get me wrong - Lexis’ guidebook was INCREDIBLE. The only thing it was missing was info about how the water source worked. I was looking to simply shampoo and condition my hair and in (what seemed like) 5-7 minutes the water was completely out for the rest of the night. My traveling partner was out of luck for a shower. However, Lexis provided an outdoor sink that helped wash off some things. So there was a silver lining!
But if you get anything out of my long diatribe… book this stay. You’ll have a blast, feel inspired, and enjoy yourself. I’m excited to return.

We had an incredible weekend staying in Painted Dessert (RV)! Located next to the heart of Bayview, it was also close to large parks and the beach. We did it all and at some amazing restaurants / drank at some cool bars. Coming back to the RV was always a treat since the outdoor area was secluded and just looking at Painted Dessert brings a smile to your face.
