Inactive Listing
Patrick never responded to any of my questions and inquiries resulting in the last minute need to alter our trip and find new accommodations. I am under the impression that Patrick’s listing is inactive and I am currently working with Hipcamp on a refund. Please do not book unless you are able to confirm that the listing is active.

Great Secluded Spot
It's so nice that you can't even hear vehicals passing. Just nature and you decently primitive but that's what makes it fun!

Perfect piney woods primitive
This place was wonderful! So quiet! We will definitely be going back. It is in such close proximity to all the activities and trails the piney woods have to offer. The dogs had as much fun as we did, plenty of room to run around and throw the ball. Appears more sites in the process of grooming which is even more exciting. So many different kinds of birds audible every morning and evening. Canopy a little dense to see many stars but it’s only 100yds to the pond where you can see them all.

Mixed feelings
First time primitive camping, and didn’t hate it. But there was another camp group that was equally confused as I was. They took the entry spot as other spots were muddy and difficult to get to. I paid for the extra wood, didn’t get it. My fire pit (hole) didn’t have the grill plate. Due to the wet ground, tire tracks were all prominent and difficult to get situated.

Very relaxing
Very remote. No cell service which is exactly what I wanted! Thanks to Patrick for the peace and quiet I was looking for to relax and recharge.

Deep Woods Camping
I was traveling through Texas with a travel trailer. I wanted a night in the deep woods. I certainly found that here. Patrick was friendly and made sure we had what we needed.

Beautiful getaway spot
Patrick was a great host. The area had just gone through a huge flood from all the rain causing the pond to overflow and wash out all the sites. Patrick made sure we still had a space to camp outside of the flood zone though and our group had an amazing time. We will definitely be back! It is a really beautiful location. It's quiet and secluded. No signal out there so be sure to get your directions written down before you go out and enjoy the technology detox.

Perfect, secluded camping getaway!
Patrick’s Blackwoods camping retreat was exactly what we were looking for in a weekend getaway! It is truly a hidden gem and a good way to be totally secluded in nature. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to just chill out and not worry about being around other people while camping. The stars were also beautiful. Definitely will be back in the future!

A wonderful place to unplug
I had a wonderful time camping on Patrick’s property. He was responsive to text, communicated clearly, and not to mention he gifted me with a peach sapling on the way out! The place is as described: primitive camping. My dog enjoyed running around the meadow and splashing in the shallow pond. I will definitely return to Patrick’s property next time I need an escape!

So Private!
Extremely helpful and kind host that gave us privacy. Secluded, rustic and primitive place in forest, but had clearing with pond and incredible view of night sky. Quiet, peaceful day and night - right off /with close access to forrest roads for hiking. Had rock fire ring with adjustable iron grate for cooking that made so easy. We even bought one from him because he mentioned he made them. He supplied us with pine fire starters, too! We plan on going back for sure. Would be a place to go with friends and they’d be close by with own sites, but still have privacy and not see others. Loved it. First time primitive campers with truck shell and tent hook up.

Love me some East Texas!
I really enjoyed my two nights at the Backwoods Camping Retreat. It is surrounded by pine forests and secluded. Cell service is a no-go, so that made contacting the Patrick (host) a challenge on my way in. Directions to the site could be improved with turn-by-turn directions - again, lack of cell service makes finding camp tougher than it should be. The provided fire ring was a great help, and the location was beautiful and wooded. Love me some East Texas!
