Copper Canyon

100% (1)
Vehicle site · Sleeps 4 · Vehicles under 36 ft
Copper Canyon site is a covered, back in, full hookup site with an old wooden deck, table, and nearly an acre of space around it. It's in a valley and a short walk (100 yards or so) above it there is open pasture, woods and plenty of room to wander. It is an ideal spot for sky gazing at night and eclipse viewing on April 8. This is away from the crowds and peaceful, though the coyotes howl shortly after dark and the Whitetail deer wander by and graze the grass in the yard. If you do want to attend some of the many noisy events in Lampasas, its only about 8 miles to the east. Lometa also has lots of music going on in their regional park about 8 miles in the other direction from here.

Boondocking Pasture

Vehicle site · Sleeps 4 · Vehicles under 38 ft
Here we are, a place in the country for those independent minded RVers where you can unhook the trailer, head to Lampasas or Lometa (both just about 8 mi. away) and join in the fun if you like. But if you're really serious about the eclipse and want to set up tripods and telescopes or cameras for night sky viewing or the big moment Monday afternoon - without so much noise and disruption - you're in the right place. Look over the pasture and pick your spot when you arrive. Don't mind the goats staring at you from the next pasture...they're just curious. We have a sizable amount of space for fully contained RVs and for tents that are accompanying an RV and are also using the amenities of the RV. No tents without their own campsite or agreed upon toilet will be accepted.

Hillside Agave

Vehicle site · Sleeps 4 · Vehicles under 30 ft
Hillside Agave is newly created and not as accessible as other spots but does give some views and is a short walk from open pasture and surrounding woods. A hike along the pasture road will take you to dense woods where you might spot Whitetail Deer, squirrels, a Red or Gray Fox, perhaps a Bobcat or Raccoon, and certainly lots of arriving springtime birds. Pick your own open space in the field up the hill, or wherever you like, to set up a telescope or camera and your lawn chairs in order to view the eclipse.

The Bunkhouse

Barn · Sleeps 2
The Bunkhouse is a small one room and bath that is a part of a barn/tool room and workshop. It has fridge, microwave, toaster oven, kitchen sink, table, etc., as well as bathroom with shower, sink, and toilet. The double bed is a comfortable Futon. The goat herd nests nearby at night and may bring some interesting cries from baby kid goats looking for their moms for an overnight nursing. Just back of the Bunkhouse is a few acre pasture that is a great spot for viewing the evening sky (bring your telescope if you have one), and it is also a great spot for your lawn chairs and camera setups for eclipse viewing. If you want to try to join the crowds in Lampasas or Lometa for weekend events, you are only 8 miles away from either. Oh yes, the map to our place on this site show the road as 1301. That is a mistake in the labeling 1301 exits off Hwy 183, then forks and our road is actually 1225 after the fork.
