Overall it was a very good experience. The skies were as dark as advertised, and it was fairly easy to find a random piece of desert to park in. The tank itself is surrounded by the traces of cows, so did not make for a great spot. However Sunset was beautiful, sunrise even more so. As solitude was my goal, I'd say I got what I came for.

We pulled our NuCamp T@b 400 Boondock to David’s property. Use gps to get to Sierra Blanca, and then follow David’s directions. He has a beautiful property—we felt like we were the last people on earth!

Quiet, secluded, back country campi
Very isolated and quiet! Which is exactly what we wanted. Its a bit of a drive down dirt roads from sierra blanca but worth it if its seclusion and peace that youre after. It too us approximately 2 hours to drive to Guadalupe mountai s national park. The roads are well marked and easy to find. They are a little rough and look like they would be problamatic to drive in wet weather so make sure you have 4 wheel drive if its supposed to rain. There is absolutely no other human presence around for miles. When the sun goes down it is beyond dark, absolutely no light pollution and the stars are amazing!

The land was gorgeous with plenty of places to camp. A word of caution, BE CAREFUL if you are driving a 2wd vehicle. The road out there was rough on my Toyota Camry. If it had rained when I was out there the road would have been way too muddy, and I would have been stuck out there. That being said the rough journey there paid off with a wonderful night under the billions of stars, and the feeling of being totally isolated from the world.

Stars galore
It's remote and super quiet with amazing views. Hard to beat the night skies . There was zero light or noise pollution. Monsoon season made the roads rather challenging but we have a high clearance vehicle and it was worth it.

Lone Desert Camping
This is the spot to camp! Pure desert isolation with beautiful scenery and nature. I had a 2wd and was totally fine on the roads. Lots of spots to camp and I hiked up the hill to find even more spots!
Great place to desert camp and cows will be your camping neighbors.

We camped on the hill and couldn’t see a single light for miles and miles. It was a truly magical escape. Highly recommend for those who want to enjoy dark skies and peaceful isolation.

Great place in stay in the middle of the West Texas desert, with only the coyotes to keep you company.

The washboard dirt road out there is about 40 minutes, but my 2WD Escape handled it nicely. Gorgeous land, and very quiet. I was traveling long distance and it's the way to go. So much nicer waking up out there than some crummy highway motel!

Slightly remote but nice
It’s quite secluded, and the road in is as described in other reviews. I would not go there in a class A, but otherwise if you want to be away and actually camp in the desert, it’s perfect. Look at a map before you go for a sense of distance once you leave the pavement as Verizon came and went as we drove.

Stargazing and Sunsets
If you’re looking for remote, private, the whole rustic West Texas experience, this is it. We stayed here during a trip to the Guadalupe Mountains NP and loved our stay. The drive to the NP is about 2 hours but totally worth it to be able to have the entire area to yourself and have a campfire. Stargazing, sunset and sunrise are amazing.
The dirt road is well kept aside from a few ruts. We drove average 40 mph on them.
It does get windy so make sure you stake down your tents.

Beautiful and isolated ranch
Amazing! The site was very far on to ranch land—16 miles down dirt roads. This is my first time using the site, and I was a little nervous that I was in the wrong spot, but I ended up finding the area right by the watering receptacle for the cows. And yes, there are cows! They were a little wary of me but seemed friendly and I welcomed their company. This also means there’s a bit of manure you want to avoid. I arrived too late to hike the nearby hill, but it looked like it would’ve been a great hike. Luckily, I got there just in time for a beautiful sunset to the west and a gorgeous moon rise over the hill to my east in late October. Scenic and private, just as advertised.

We drove 18 miles down the dirt roads. Everything was dusty but that’s part of the experience. We saw the Milky Way at night! We wanted to be off the main road so we drove a bit and had trouble finding a open spot to pull the camper into. Great place to unplug

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights in a tiny trailer. We chose to park near the fence on Mockingbird.
It was very private and the directions were accurate.
Great for overlanding.
