Crooked Mountain is a family and Veteran-owned farm, campground, camp store, and small event venue located just ½ mile off the Blue Ridge Parkway at Mile Marker 159 near Floyd, Virginia.
We designed Crooked Mountain to be a unique basecamp for travelers exploring the Blue Ridge Mountains, especially those traveling by van, car, motorcycle, bicycle, or with small RVs. With easy access from the Parkway and scenic mountain roads nearby, it’s a great stop for road trippers, vanlifers, and anyone on two wheels exploring Southwest Virginia.
The campground currently offers 15 campsites across the farm:
• 7 sites on Pine Creek (Sites 1 & 12 have electric)
• 5 field campsites with open views of the surrounding hills
• 3 field sites with electric near the pond (Sites 13–15)
Electric sites provide 30/20 amp power only. There are no water or sewer hookups at campsites.
Guests can enjoy the natural setting of the property and access our hiking trail, fishing pond (catch n release for a fee) and other amenities on the farm while staying here.
Our camp store offers tourism information about Floyd and the surrounding area (including local motorcycle/bicycle maps and routes, along with artisan goods, camping essentials (things you may have forgotten), snacks, drinks, coffee, ice, firewood and more.
During the summer months we also open our fields for a You-Pick flower experience, where guests can purchase a container and create their own bouquet. Flower season typically runs July through September.
Crooked Mountain is located along The Crooked Road: Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail, and the town of Floyd is just 4 miles away, offering live music, local restaurants, breweries, galleries, and the famous Friday Night Jamboree at the Floyd Country Store.
Whether you're traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway, riding Floyd’s scenic backroads, or just exploring the region, Crooked Mountain is a great place to stop and stay awhile.

These primitive campsites are on the bank of The Little River in gorgeous Floyd County Virginia. There are two sites on the east bank of the river and one site on the west bank. Get away from it all when you stay among nature in this secluded off-grid tiny cabin in the forest. Complete with outdoor grill, fire pit, picnic table, well maintained outhouse, miles of trails and a large swimming or fishing pond (catch and release).
This is a secluded off grid location without power, wifi, or cell service, so be prepared to UNPLUG and unwind.
Firewood for your first campfire is provided along with one tank of propane to run the indoor camp stove. Five gallons of drinking water are included with coffee and a French press. There is a cooler provided. Remember to bring ice for your groceries and sleeping bags!

Located less than a mile from the Blue Ridge Parkway, this little hayfield is nestled just a skip away from Mabry Mill (the most photographed spot on the parkway), Villa Appalachia (quant Italian style winery), Chateau Morrisette (larger tourist winery), Nancy's Fudge (a little candy factory and shop), and hiking trails of varying lengths with epic views (Black Ridge Trail and Rock Castle Gorge Trail).
Each of these is under 5 miles from our camp spot. Yet, if you are also hoping to hop out of your camper and WALK somewhere, there is a hike that leads you directly up to Chateau Morissette.
The property itself is a hayfield that typically has a couple of cuttings each summer.
There just happens to be a full hook up campsite located at the edge of the property that someone should be enjoying.
The property owner (my dad, who is in his mid 70s and doesn't internet so well) lives in a log home that is across the field on the adjacent property.
He is probably going to stop by to say hi.
He is a pretty friendly guy.

Formerly Meadow Creek Campground, this beautiful property has a small number of camping spots overlooking a meandering tributary of the Little River. Camper sites have 30-amp/50-amp, water and sewer hookup. Tent sites are primitive, but guests can access water and electricity at the picnic shelter. A portable outhouse is nearby. Picnic table provided in each spot. Location is central to Radford, Floyd and Christiansburg.
You will need to drive through a grassy area to reach the sites. While the sites are located on fairly flat ground, leveling will be required.

One loft bedroom, huge bathroom with a walk in shower and a soaking bathtub, while looking at a gorgeous creek, 20 ft away. A hot tub sits on the rear ground level deck. Kitchen with two coffee makers, microwave, full size refridge stovetop, air fryer, toaster oven and a kettle. This yurt is great for a couple or a couple with a small child, I provide a blowup mattress, twin size with linens.. The yurt faces the creek, and a rock wall on the other side making this property very private except for our cabin on the same property. It is fenced with split rail fencing and has a solar powered gate, with a gate fob provided. We are dog friendly, with a $25 pet fee per stay. This is a safe, beautiful area to visit nearby Floyd, a nearby kayak rental shuttle service, breweries, a meadery 2 miles away, and many other unique finds. Beautiful Mountain View’s and backwoods drive. A unique wool farm is just down the dirt road with a cash only roadside stand.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our time here! The area was nice and quiet and out of the way. Camping on the New River was about as relaxing as you could get. The hosts are very nice as well. We even were able to see a couple of otters running on the lad back into the water. Highly recommend this spot for a quiet getaway!

First of all, the owners, David and Kathy are AMAZING - they bent over backwards for me (I’ll get to that in a minute). Secondly the property was beautiful and everything we could’ve asked for. We stayed at Easter Egg Meadow with my family of 6, including two kids under 4 years old, and my friend’s family with another 3 year old. Easter Egg Meadow was perfect! Plenty of shade for us to be comfortable in a little heat wave, and plenty of room, even with 3 tents set up, for the kids to run around and have a great time. There’s so much to explore at this property and we can’t wait to go back! Now, back to David and Kathy. Both came up to greet us when we got there, and I thoroughly enjoyed talking with them. David even took everyone on a tour of the entire 170+ acre property in his Kawasaki Mule. Here’s where they went above and beyond. We got packed up to head home after our two nights there, and my Suburban wouldn’t start. My wife and I tried to jump it for an hour from her car and had no luck. I asked David if he thought a tow truck could get up to get my car. He said, “Help is on the way.” His neighbor drove me to Pulaski to get a new battery and then he and David helped me replace the battery in my car. It was an unbelievable display of kindness from David, Kathy and their neighbor, Mike to me, a complete stranger. They are genuinely great people, and I appreciate them more than they’ll ever know!

Hippie Hollow is a beautiful camping spot for anyone looking for a chill place to camp without being isolated in the middle of the wilderness. Sly is a fantastic and gracious host with a real passion for the place who made sure we had everything we needed and then some during our stay. He also shared food and was really cool, great company, too. The campsites are set up around a very nice little outdoor kitchen/ bar area, a very nice portable bathroom including heat, running water, and a shower, and a big center fire pit in the middle in front of a nice little stage on the edge of the water. We stayed in the Greendale Trailer plot, which was also right on the water, right near where the ducks like to hang out. The stars are quite visible at night from there, and you can hear the river from inside the trailer. If you love the outdoors and backcountry living but aren't particularly keen on traditional camping, don't want to have to bring all your own amenities, this place is perfect. A haven for true hippies at heart!

We enjoyed our stay at Crooked Mountain! The campsites were very clean and well spaced. We were in field spot 7 with a class B and it was nice and level. The hosts were so nice and the general store full of wonderful handmade items and camping supplies. Amazing views of the stars! We would definitely love to stay here again!
