The grant was held for 35 years before Maria Garzon, who survived husband Antonio, sold the land they called Garzon’s Point to Joseph (Jose) Bonifay. The land uses were favorable for cattle grazing and turpentining through the 1800s. Many more pioneer families moved into the area and began their own business in the booming industrial opportunities of western Florida. It came to be known as Yellow River Marsh State Buffer Preserve on June 12, 2000, when it was purchased by the state of Florida to protect rare and environmentally sensitive lands, plants and animals. Through generous donations, Preservation 2000 and the Florida Forever Program, more land was added to protect contiguous habitat of the Garcon Ecosystem. Today Yellow River Marsh Preserve State Park provides recreational opportunities for hiking and nature study along the Great Florida Birding Trail among rare and endemic plant species and within one of Florida’s oldest multi-cultural frontiers.The preserve is located in Santa Rosa County on Garcon Point, which separates Escambia Bay from Blackwater Bay. Goat House Farm is a 501(c)3 owned micro-farm in a rural area of Tallahassee on the beautiful Lake Talquin. The farm has its humble beginnings in the summer of 2015 with four acres, four goats, and four chickens. Founded on the love of animals and a passion for sustainability, we remain committed to compassionate practices and the most natural care of our land and animals as possible. As stewards of the land and herd, we believe we have a responsibility to share nature's blessings. We offer several agritourism opportunities on the farm, from farmstays to day visits. Our primary program is to serve area youth with agricultural education and the opportunities to work with our goats. All proceeds from bookings go toward our programming. It is our goal to create a space where our visitors can have fun and learn about the animals who share that space. We also strive to serve as a valuable resource for first time goat owners. To support that endeavor, we sell chicken eggs, specialty cottage goods, honey, and natural goat milk and honey products. We also sell raw goat milk (for pet consumption only, as per Florida law - Master Feed License #ZOO406).

Kokomo Farms is an Organic rescue farm on approximately 20 acres. We named Kokomo Farms after our two loves. We traveled for years only to discover Kokomo is inside of us all . Our love for unwanted animals from horses, pigs chickens, ducks, dogs, birds (well you get the idea) allows us to care for rescued animals. We offer many different unique stays from our Glamping Netted Hanging Round Bed to a converted Shipping Container made into an Eco Friendly Tiny Home to even a Tiny House Cottage and a treehouse! Soak in our zen garden hot tub . The Zen garden is a peaceful botanical retreat. It's a fun and romantic vibe if you love animals to just relax and breathe! Bring a good book to read on the back porch of the Main house, add your artistic talents to our artwall, lie on our stargazing bed and enjoy our beautiful dark skies, meander thru the greenhouse, or enjoy our weekend community fires, or just Wander around Kokomo's spacious property which includes a beautiful Hammock of 200+ yr old Live Oak trees. The cabin is clean, we'll kept and comfortable. The hosts are very accomodating and ensure you enjoy your stay. I stayed solo this night, but I think this will be a great place to bring my wife and daughter in the future

The hosts were great. Very friendly and personable people. Our camping spot was quiet (except for the rooster) and the bath house was great. Every night they lit a camp fire where everyone could sit around and talk. We would definitely stay there again.

We had such a wonderful weekend camping at this farm in DeLand, Florida. It was exactly the kind of getaway we were hoping for. The hosts were incredibly friendly and accommodating from the moment we arrived. Everything was clean, well maintained, and thoughtfully set up. The bathrooms and amenities were in great shape and clearly cared for. The farm animals were easily the highlight for our kids. They loved seeing the goats and even got to hold a baby goat with the owners, which made their weekend. They also befriended a turkey who hung around our campsite and the sweetest dog named Jacksonville. The kids even gave the turkey a nickname. Getting that kind of hands on experience with the animals made it feel really special. The location was great as well. We spent time at Blue Springs Park and appreciated all the local recommendations the hosts shared, including other parks and the Historical Village nearby. They suggested Big Rig for breakfast, which was exactly the casual, relaxed spot we were looking for. There were other campers on the property, but everyone was respectful and kept to themselves, so it still felt peaceful and private. One especially fun surprise was the bowling ball scavenger hunt on the property, which kept the kids entertained for quite a while. Overall, we would absolutely recommend staying here. It was a memorable family weekend and a place we would gladly return to.

Trina’s property is gorgeous! She was also very nice and welcoming. My family had a wonderful 3 nights there! My children enjoyed the chickens, Muppet and Diabla. They also enjoyed visiting the baby chicks. They said that was their favorite part. It’s very spacious and we could set up our badmitton/volleyball net. We got to meet other great campers and our kids had a lot of fun. They were worn out by 8 every night and slept for 12 hours. They were able to run around and explore the land, they thoroughly enjoyed the pond swing. Mom and dad loved that they could run around and disappear for hours safely. We really love the outdoor shower, the most magical shower I’ve ever had and now I want one lol. Loved that there was a bathroom and outdoor kitchen so we could wash our cooking gear and didn’t have to pack up dirty dishes. It was amazing and really felt like we were out in the woods. We will definitely be coming back and maybe bringing some friends!

Weekend Trip to Pure Paradise Lebanon station

We didn’t know what to think before we arrived as we were just looking for a place to test out the new RV and Crossroads was very biker friendly. Turns out it was a perfect weekend. There just happened to be jack Russel Terrier races going on so there were dogs everywhere but the wife and I love dogs so it just added to the adventure. The campground was perfectly fine. Everything worked great. The only downside was we wanted full hookups and to get sewer we had to take a location close to annuals, but nobody messed with us or was loud. We walked the grounds and it was beautiful land. The waterfalls were all working and flowing as they should. We don’t drink much but the bar looked excellent. We did have a cheesecake on a stick and it was amazing. All in all it was excellent for the price. The owner was fantastic and very helpful even offering to let us use things if we forgot something.
