We had an amazing time camping at Costa Myakka!
Rebecca was very prompt attending to all of our questions and needs. The Back 40 is a beautiful site where up to 25 people can camp: $55/night covers the cost of 4 adults(13+) per day while additional adults are $15 additional each day and 12 and under(kids) are free (not $55/night for up to 25 people).
There is a table and firepit, palm trees and live oaks that make a great spot for hammocking. There is an incredible amount of space for playing lawn games. We threw frisbees, had foot races, and played Boccee ball.
One thing to note is that the Back 40 site will need to be driven through by other campers in order to reach their site while the other sites are not drive through.
This site in not right on the river which is great for families especially who have young children to feel at ease letting them run and play and without having to be constantly vigilant of the water. An absolutely gorgeous river is just a 2 minute walk down the road. There are picnic tables by the river, places to set up a hammock, and a little beach where kids can dig, sunbathe, play, etc. You can make a day of it by the water. We also went kayaking.
We saw several other sites on the river that we wouldn't mind trying as well on another trip.
We saw cows and got to feed some very cute tortoises. The family was very sweet.
We loved it! You won't regret it! Just know that not all sites are on the river, though it is easily accessible.

The place is amazing it’s a little pricier than state parks but it’s just amazing well worth it every respect. Even the little beach area gives you kind of a spring vibe. Becky Assistant with arrangementswas excellent and communication was perfect. Just make sure you pack what you actually need because the closest supermarket is about 40 minutes away! We would love to come back.

Incredible place to camp, isolated with a pristine stretch of the river to swim in. Feels like Gilligans Island mixed with Australian Outback or African Savanah -absolutely gorgeous. The coyotes at night are something else and we heard a lot of great horned owls hooting, there were bright stars, an ice cold golden glistening river, palms and ancient oaks. Bliss. Bring food and water and fill up on gas it is a bit away from civilization. Which is My kind of place, we will be back.

Loved the secluded sites, they are even secluded from each other. I camped alone but each site could easily hold six or more tents. I would love to come back when the river is higher and paddle from camp.

We loved our brief stay at the Back 40, on the Myakka River. A few suggestions to future travelers:
1) book it - this is a beautiful property at the end of a long dirt road, nestled into live oaks. Your campsite might be near others, but you can't see them.
2) be sure to ask the host about fossil hunting nearby. The Peace River is close, and the host has ample experience and is happy to share! After we broke camp, we took our two kids (9 & 7) to Arcadia for a few hours of fossil gathering. Super fun!!
3) The sound of gunfire, off in the distance: there's a gun club pretty far away, and as noted in other reviews, you might hear it. It's a light "pop pop pop" and not a "bang bang bang," and no one but me in our campsite knew what they were hearing. Those sounds were oddly starting up at about dark (6:00) and probably quit by 6:45 - was not disturbing.
4) bring kale for the tortoises!

I really enjoyed my stay in The Back 40. The campground was really well kept and the host ensured that my stay was a enjoyable as possible. While walking the land I observed other sites which I would also consider staying at, as they were also easy to reach and maintained nicely. The restroom was also very clean which is always welcome. Overall, I had a great experience and would book again.

I went tent camping and we set up our tent to view the river, great spot! Our dog loved it too.
We woke up to some cows by us in the morning which is a fun way to start your day.

This was a really cool property that’s very private right in classic old Florida land. Out campsite was huge, had a nice fire pit and fire ring, and backed right up to a cool creek with sandy bluffs. Highly recommend!

The host were excellent and kind. Sweet spot to hide out for a couple days. Can conoe, fish, just sit around and enjoy the scenery. Kid friendly and just all around very nicely set up.
