Positives: Lots of trees, nice little creek, deer, otters playing in the evenings, huge camping spot and privacy.
Negatives: 7 miles of washboard shell road to get there ( it was graded the day after we got there) and cowpies scattered over the entire camp. No electric or potable water made $139 a bit pricy.

We had a group of 30 for our daughter's sweet 16th birthday and it was perfect!
The kids explored the property, swam, kayaked and fished.

I loved camping at Becca and Kary’s spot, this is now my favorite camping place yet! I loved how quiet it was and serene- it felt like I was the only one there. My dog loved being able to swim in the river. Lots of time spent riverside sunbathing and reading. The porta potty was clean and convenient. The only sounds to be heard were birds and night sounds mostly, I did hear some moo’ing and a dog barking a little bit but it didn’t bother me at all… the whole weekend was SO PEACEFUL. I didn’t want to leave.

The property is expansive and we enjoyed walking around it with our dog. Splashed around and wasted in the water for over an hour. Dog zoomies in the water?? Priceless!
We loved our tent-camping site but on our walk we saw several other nice sites and a picnic area. Next time we may rent kayaks!
We were pleasantly surprised there was a port-o-john on the property, which was very clean.
The only drawbacks were slight. When we stopped at the homestead to meet the host, a barking dog announced our arrival. No front door clearly visible, so it was several minutes of the dog barking non-stop and me calling out for anyone who may hear before someone came out. I may recommend training the son how to host if he is going to regularly be the greeter.
We will bring a shovel next time in case there are cow patties on the campsite, as they are not removed in preparation for guests.
Otherwise, we enjoyed the solitude and quiet. Unassuming place and we were left to our own devices. We will save the spot for future visits!

We continue to have a wonderful experience every time we camp at Costa Myakka!! It’s so beautiful and tranquil.. We requested firewood and Cary brought us a big bunch of great logs to burn. I highly recommend staying there!!

Wow. Secluded , huge, private sites on the river. The
Brilliant stars, a morning dip, and kayaking were highlights. Becky was great and super responsive. We will beback!

Awesome site, right by the water, had a nice beach, private and spacious site with fire pit, super nice host, lots of animals, woke up right next to cows, tortoises you can feed, overall great campsite!

We had a beautiful large private site right on the river. We were able to launch our canoe and kayak at the site. We had otters playing in the river on 2 days. Site was clean and well kept. Currently there is no potable water, so bring water or boil river water. Hosts were outstanding!

This place was beautiful! Otter neighbors were adorable and hungry (I watched one hunt, catch and eat at least 3 river eels). Becky and Kary are awesome hosts and I had an amazing, relaxing weekend!

We loved our stay at Rebecca and Kary's place. So peaceful, dark nights for stargazing. Kayaking on the head of the mighty Myakka was serene. The porta-potty was clean and firewood was supplied by their son. We will definitely be back.

This place exceeded my expectations in all ways!! It was magical and truly the best camping retreat ever. Also Becky was an amazing host and I can’t wait to be back. I really recommend this to anyone who wants to get away and unplug into nature.

Becky is a wonderful host.
The camping spot is right next to the river and the beauty and peace of the surroundings nuture your soul.
A great spot for a quick swim as well.
We were also entertained by otters and other wildlife at the end of the day before sunset.

We really enjoyed our night here. The landscape is breathtaking. The hosts were kind, communicative and take great care of their land. We had fun kayaking even though it was right after a cold snap. It was just too beautiful to let the threat of cold butts stop us, ha! We saw birds and turtle and my friend even spotted a gator a safe distance away. The Porta potty was convenient and very clean. It's so serene (except for target practice bangs in the area...if gun sounds are a trigger (no pun intended), be aware you might hear some in the daytime.) But even still, it was paradise. We felt safe and happy and I'd go back in a heartbeat!

We went tent camping on the "Back 40", with 12 people (including 6 kids aged 7-10). We had an amazing time. The property was large and private. The kids loved exploring and exploring. The hosts were amazing. We will definitely go back soon.

I loved tent camping here! Slept under the beautiful oak :) The fact that the campsite is on the Myakka River is awesome. The host was very helpful and welcoming and I was able to buy excellent quality firewood from them.

Our annual New Year's camping trip with 2 other families (6 adults, 4 kids ages 12-15) was everything we could ask for at the Back 40. The host Kary met us at the entrance and gave us a quick run down and off we went. The area is secluded with a great fire pit with the Myakka River as the back drop. We brought a canoe and several kayaks so we made lots of little trips up and down the river and saw gators, hawks, deer, owls and caught lots of little fish (mostly brim). The host graciously allowed us to feed their cattle and their turtles which was a highlight of the trip. We stayed 2 nights so resupplying on some firewood and ice from the host saved us from having to leave, which was perfect. Thank you and we'll definitely share our experience here with other campers and come back soon.

This hipcamp site is beautiful with a canopy of palm trees, live oaks and other types of trees. The camp sites are far enough apart so you have plenty of privacy. There is a port-a-potty located central to the camp sites. A short walk . There is a common area where the Myakka River loops into a half circle. There are picnic tables there. Kary was very helpful and nice. They have firewood for sale and ice. I’ll definitely stay there again
