Rasayana Cove is a 25-acre eco-retreat located in the heartland of west central Florida. An hour's drive east of Sarasota surrounded by vast tracts of orange groves and ranch land, Rasayana Cove has been operating as a small retreat center since 1995. The long eastern boundary borders Horse Creek, a major tributary of the Peace River. The property features two spring-fed ponds - one small and the other large. The cabins are accessible by well constructed shell-topped roads with good drainage and a variety of nature pathways. A natural ecosystem remains undisturbed in the middle of the property - a Florida bay head of native flora and wildlife. While most of the state is crowded and overdeveloped, this eco-retreat offers a haven of peace in the pristine nature of Florida

Hermitage Cabin is the second of two cabins in the magical hammock of ancient oaks. It is greatly loved for its quaint rustic simplicity. It has one bedroom with full bed and cot as well as a screened porch with 200 sq. ft of deck and a detached bathroom with sink and flush toilet. It also includes a cedar walk-in hot water shower. A camp stove is provided. Electricity for lighting and fans is provided by photo-voltaic panels. Space heater and hot water are LP gas. It is nestled in the ancient oak hammock near the Tree House.

Tree House is one of two of the original cabins of Rasayana Cove, a 25-acre eco-retreat. It has been extensively renovated by the current owners. It is nestled in a hammock of ancient live oak trees and looks over a Florida savannah and a small pond. On the other side of the cabin lies the Horse Creek flood plain. This creek is one of the main tributaries of the Peace River. The flood plain provides a natural corridor for animal life and a habitat for exotic wading birds, including limpkins, anhingas, spoonbills, wood storks, green herons, blue herons and ibis. The cabin is greatly loved for its solitude and its charm. From 1995 until 2004 Tree House was the current owner's personal living quarters, and with its companion, Hermitage Cabin, constituted the core of our retreat operation. It is self-contained with kitchen, toilet and detached shower. Off the grid, electric power for fans and lighting is produced by photo-voltaic panels. 530 sq. ft interior floor space. 600 sq. ft deck under roof. 585 sq. ft open deck. Ideal for yoga, sun-bathing or just enjoying a relaxing drink at sunset. The companion "Hermitage" cabin is located about 100' away from the "Tree House" so strictly speaking there is not absolute privacy if the other cabin is occupied. For those guests who require absolute privacy the only option is to rent both cabins.

I had an amazing time as always! Dennis was great and brought fresh firewood on my first night and made sure to explain how to use the camp stove and make sure everything was okay. Super peaceful property with tons of vibrant wildlife, beautiful landscapes, and if you happen to be there during a storm, a lovely tin roof to top it all off.

THE BEST PROPERTY ON HIPCAMP The old Florida which is almost lost is still alive here. What a wonderful experience! If you want to experience raw nature in an artistic, carefully curated treehouse, this is your place.

I had the pleasure of being the only camper there when I went and the privacy was incredible. His 25 acres include a watershed that creates a beautiful creek. All the property surrounding him is cattle pastures so you do not have to worry about running into any human neighbors. The hermitage cabin was perfect. I mostly spent my time wandering the property but when it was time to sleep the cabin provided me a safe place to stay and the box fan worked all through the night to keep me cool despite the hot, humid Florida evening. Dennis was a lovely host and showed me the features of the property upon check in and helped make sure I had a fire started before he went. I would highly recommend staying on Dennis’s land.

Yes — showers are available at every site at Rasayana Cove. There is an outdoor "solar" shower. This showers offers more than a modicum of privacy. It is located at the back of the building below the existing deck. It is an enclosed structure which allows privacy from view from the knees to the shoulders while still offering the experience of bathing out of doors. Because the water is heated by the sun it[ requires that the heating coil be exposed to the sun for a while to be warm. Therefore guests may have to time their shower accordingly. There is option of heating water inside on the stove and using that water to fill a bucket.
