The farm you’re camping on is one of the last family farms remaining in Columbia County and is named Glenn Farm after DV Glenn who married Hettie Lou Niblack in the 1930’s. Over the last 150 years it has been farmed by some of the county’s oldest families such as the Niblack and Ellis families. When DV Glenn came to Florida from his farm in Cairo, GA he took over the portion of the Niblack farm that was inherited by his wife Hettie Lou. At that time he was running native Florida cattle on over 6000 acres. Unfortunately, In 1951 he was killed in a hunting accident leaving his wife with the farm and 4 children (ages 4-11). In order to survive, Hettie Lou Niblack Glenn was forced to sell 5000 acres at $25 an acre. Holding a bachelors degree from Florida State College for Women, she was able to secure a job at the University of Florida as a secretary and with the money from the land sale she was able to raise her four children. Of the original farm, 600 acres remain intact and the Glenn family is trying to keep the farm as an agricultural operation. Your campsite is 1 of 4 spots (Arrowhead Sink, Dunagan’s Meadow, North Hall Pasture or Magnolia Sink). We also have a 1 bedroom Tiny home that used to be the farm office. Dunagan’s meadow is a pasture behind the old farmhouse (built in 1824), Magnolia sink and The North Hall Pasture are also on the main farm while Arrowhead Sink is on the edge of a hayfield about a mile down a dirt road. Glenn Farm is a place to come relax and experience a world that is rapidly disappearing. It is not a commercial campground.

A small but unique piece of land that was given to a family in the 1920s by the Florida Railroad Company. It stayed in the family until we purchased it. It is unique because the surrounding area does not have much tree coverage. This is due to the ground underneath, which is a vein of grey marl. This is why the area is called the Allapattah (an Indian word for Alligator) Flats. We are hoping that our county stays the way it is so people will know what Old Florida really looks like. Minutes from I-95, but surrounded by the Allapattah Flats Wildlife Management Preserve. Located on Martin Hwy, which was recently designated as a Florida Scenic Hwy. Fifteen minutes to Stuart and thirty minutes to West Palm Beach, a world away from the hustle and bustle. We realize that people also love Florida for Disney and tropical paradises but if that is what you want then this may not be your kind of place. Depending on the season and availability we may have local honey and/or firewood available for purchase.

Es un sitio apartado del bullicio, las redes sociales, los teléfonos la Internet ahí te encontrarás con tu paz mental y la naturaleza nos quedamos en la cabaña ocho. Lo único que no me gustó que el baño lo teníamos un poco alejado y empezó a llover y no tocó comer comida frisada porque la parte de la leña y el carbón estaba afuera y no no tenía techo pero por todo lo demás un sitio súper mega tranquilo los dueños, increíblemente personas educadas y correctas. Si quieres desconectarte, te lo recomiendo al 100%

2 nights at The Wandering Path

We just got home after spending two incredible nights at Campsite #8, and we already can't wait to come back. This was my husband’s and my very first camping trip, so we were a little nervous at first. But all of our worries disappeared as soon as we met Amanda. She has such a kind, welcoming soul and came by to say hello after we got settled in. She even gave us her phone number in case we needed anything during our stay, which made us feel so cared for. We absolutely loved the river (it was so refreshing!!!) The gentle current felt like a natural jacuzzi, melting away all the tension in our muscles. One of our favorite memories was lying in the tent, listening to the rain and the passing thunderstorms. It was incredibly peaceful, and I slept better than I have in a long time. We drove six hours to get here, and it was 100% worth every mile. If you're looking for a peaceful escape surrounded by beautiful nature and true solitude, don't hesitate, this is the perfect place. I left feeling like my soul had been restored. Thank you, Amanda, for sharing your little piece of heaven with us. It was an experience we'll never forget.

The cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Linus, our fur baby, loved the space to run leash free. Our mini-vacation was planned around touring the Marjorie Rawlings homestead and the cottage was a lovely refuge from the thunderstorms to relax and re-read Cross Creek and The Yearling. We were shown around the 7+ acre property, exploring the out buildings, the retro campers, the blueberry patch. We even got 3 freshly laid eggs. The entire adventure was delightful. Jodi

Great place to visit if you are not found of modern life, if you really want to know how to live life with simplicity, you really need to visit this place. Big thanks for Dinesh. It shows how life supposed to be. I am very much found of nature so I really don’t care about facility at all. Where you have nature you don’t need comfort. Just prepare your mind. We had an amazing time at this spot celebrating our boys 13th birthday. There was plenty of room for us to back our 38ft 5th wheel into. It was quiet and tranquil and the key to the neighborhood parks was the icing on the cake for us. (Were not big crowd people). Thanks Mr. Mike for a memorable trip.

Tom and Judy were both super sweet. It was nice to be out in Nature without too many sounds of humans. Judy let me feed the sheep some corn. The campsite was so calm and shady too, which is important in the summertime.

LOVED camping on Amanda's land! The campsites were spread out enough to allow privacy. Everything was exactly as described. Tons of amenities, but secluded enough to totally unplug and recharge. Amanda was also absolutely amazing! She followed us to drop off our car so we could launch our kayaks from her property at checkout time. The paddle absolutely beautiful and took us about 2-3 hours total. I will be back very soon to check out one of the yurts! The perfect weekend getaway!

Amanda was an excellent host and was gracious to help me get settled in. She was easily accessible for any needs that may have come up. She also reached out in advance to let me know when bad weather was coming. The campsite was gorgeous and the creek was cold. I will definitely be choosing this site again.
