A small but unique piece of land that was given to a family in the 1920s by the Florida Railroad Company. It stayed in the family until we purchased it. It is unique because the surrounding area does not have much tree coverage. This is due to the ground underneath, which is a vein of grey marl. This is why the area is called the Allapattah (an Indian word for Alligator) Flats. We are hoping that our county stays the way it is so people will know what Old Florida really looks like. Minutes from I-95, but surrounded by the Allapattah Flats Wildlife Management Preserve. Located on Martin Hwy, which was recently designated as a Florida Scenic Hwy. Fifteen minutes to Stuart and thirty minutes to West Palm Beach, a world away from the hustle and bustle. We realize that people also love Florida for Disney and tropical paradises but if that is what you want than this may not be your kind of place.

I made a reservation for a place to stay during Hurricane Ian. A friend got me a hotel room. They allowed me to cancel my reservation. They didn’t have to. Very kind.

Christine is a very friendly host. Tent camped with a vehicle. Horses, and a chicken hung out with me all day that I named Loretta. Very laid back place.

Lovely people! I was allowed to borrow some wrenches to tighten the chain on my motorcycle and everyone was super helpful!

See the real Florida
We stay here whenever we are passing thru. It is one of our favorites. This week we enjoyed an amazing light show of lightning in the distance, Heard a few new bird calls, and had a lovely time watching the resurrection ferns phase thru their cycles. Highly recommend. And the hosts are very friendly and always make us feel welcome.

Our second taste of old Florida
We loved our last stay so much, we came back. This place is the perfect spot to spend a little downtime. The tent sites are smack dab in a magical hammock of old oaks. Fall asleep to the distant sounds of the owls calling out. Great hosts. Awesome four legged friends and a landscape of wild florida meets the perfect curation of landscaped natives and edibles. Camping at it’s best.

Great place to stay! Very quiet, the only knock on the tent was from a lone chicken and 2mini horses that wanted a drink out of my dogs bowl. We didn’t mind, thought it was comical. Christine and Cal the owners are super nice and did a good job with the place. The outdoor shower is great just bring your own drinking water. I would gladly stay here again!!
