Weekend Trip to Surfer Beach And Tree Sanctuary

What a great place! First of all, you are just across the street from the beach and from a turtle sanctuary!! It’s one of the last spots on the Atlantic coast of Florida which is not overdeveloped. I hesitate to broadcast it too much as it is so special! John runs a small surf shop and a surf camp. So there’s a low key, cool business attached to the property (filled with great books to be loaned). The yurt is quite comfortable and has all the amenities you need. It’s very quiet and surrounded by jungle like foliage. I highly recommend this place. We will absolutely be back. My only suggestion is in summer note that they have mosquitoes. It’s manageable, but prepare in advance.

Great little spot in a wonderful beach RV condo community! The site is a concrete pad and level. Anthony was quick to respond to my messages & questions, even came to help with an issue with the lockbox that turned out to be my user error. The site has a bit of shade in early AM and late PM but not in the heat of the day so be prepared with a canopy. I only needed to use the 30amp connection and water but the site also had a sewage connection that appeared well maintained. There are several air conditioned bathroom buildings on site that were cleaned daily and in excellent condition. 3 beautiful pools and one hot tub. Beach access is locked and only for condo residents/guests so the beach is quiet and not crowded. The community is situated between the ocean and the Indian River so beautiful sunrises on the ocean and sunsets on the river. Everyone around the community was so friendly and inviting. Will definitely be back!

If you are looking for a peaceful place to rest, this is it. Luiz and his neighbor are helpful and informative. Horses, cows and chickens, oh my! Peaceful lake to walk around.

This place exceeded all our expectations. In addition to the beautiful landscaping, everything was very organized, the bathrooms were always clean, and the people were kind and welcoming! 3 nights at Camp Champ

Camp Champ is a fantastic place in the woods. Super peaceful, the host was just great, and they leave you alone but are instantly available for any queries. Facilities are rustic and basic but all you need from the flush toilet and hot shower, to cooking equipment and ac. Surprisingly few mosquitoes or any other kind of annoying bugs. The river at Camp Champ was a bit high due to recent rains so we had to go to nearby parks to look for shark teeth. Good value for money. Thank you April!

Can’t rave enough about how wonderful our stay was here. The hosts were so welcoming and kind. The vibe was super chilled. Loved the cute little ponies, the tranquil pond and the lush landscaping. We will definitely be back and hopefully get to see the peacocks next time! Highly recommend🥰

A small but unique piece of land that was given to a family in the 1920s by the Florida Railroad Company. It stayed in the family until we purchased it. It is unique because the surrounding area does not have much tree coverage. This is due to the ground underneath, which is a vein of grey marl. This is why the area is called the Allapattah (an Indian word for Alligator) Flats. We are hoping that our county stays the way it is so people will know what Old Florida really looks like. Minutes from I-95, but surrounded by the Allapattah Flats Wildlife Management Preserve. Located on Martin Hwy, which was recently designated as a Florida Scenic Hwy. Fifteen minutes to Stuart and thirty minutes to West Palm Beach, a world away from the hustle and bustle. We realize that people also love Florida for Disney and tropical paradises but if that is what you want than this may not be your kind of place.

Toto, we’re not in Florida anymore. Okay, technically we are, but spend a day in this state park and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to the wide, grassy prairies of the midwest. Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park is home to one of the largest stretches of dry prairie in Florida. Hike, bike, or trot (via horseback) through the hundreds of miles of dirt trails to explore this unique natural setting. Take in the sweet scent of whimsically named wildflowers like Bachelor’s Buttons and Blazing Star, and see if you can spot a Burrowing Owl or the endangered Grasshopper Sparrow hopping among the tall grass. If you’re really gunning for a “Little House on the Prairie” moment, then join a ranger for a buggy tour. Perched in a seat high above the prairie, you’ll be privy to some spectacular views. Kilpatrick Hammock Campground

Just got back from a week camping trip. Loved this place! Had amazingly dark skies if you like star gazing. Lots of hiking trails and it was nice and quiet. The camp host Mary, Joan, Bruce & Darlene) were great and very knowledgeable about the park. They did run out of fire wood on a week it was actually chilly in Florida! Will be going back booked another stay as soon as we got home.
