Our First Hip Camp Disappointment
The winery looked to be unique and intriguing, though expensive. Thus, we decided to give it a one night try for future reference. To be fair the winery is clean and organized with great signage. There are level camp spots, and VERY thorough instructions of what is expected from guests on their property. When we arrived I was a taken aback when a staff member hurriedly handed me papers without much of a welcome or greeting beyond, "There is a form to fill out. Return it here or in the box outside. Let us know if you have questions." Later, we went to do some shopping in the tasting room, return the form and ask questions. However, there was only one staff member who was quite consumed with a tasting group. Though we stood at the counter, we were not acknowledged, so we just laid our form down and left. When we booked, a band had not yet been scheduled, but they were confident one would be scheduled. Somehow, after calling in a few times prior to booking, I got the idea most bands were in the $20 to $30 range. We were disappointed and unwilling to pay $90 a ticket to see the Bellamy Brothers then buy refreshments on top of the $78 camp spot fee.
Additionally, there was a glitch in the reservation system requiring us to book the site then phone in a credit card to pay for electric and water separately.
If you've got lots of money to throw around and you don't expect attentiveness from staff, this might be your place.
