Campsite 3 by the goats
Spacious and peaceful! The bathroom was very clean. We rented the propane tank to enjoy a nice firepit. We would definitely stay here again. After camping out next to the cute goats (Campsite 3), I would opt in for the day hike with them the next time we camp out.
Had a great time with the family despite certain conditions. If you are at Site 1 it is extremely difficult to stake down your tent. basically you will be fighting solid rock to get anything down.
There is also a dog kennel directly adjacent to Site 1 and if you have a dog(I have two) there will be non-stop barking.
There was a large wedding the weekend of our trip and due to that Nolan (the host) was a no-show the entire time. We did have a brief conversation with his wife who seemed nice.
if you rent the propane campfire make sure to ask for a refill early if it runs low as no one will come to check on you. There is also zero light at Site 1 for make sure to bring plenty of your own!
All the other reviews are very good so maybe this was just an off weekend, but it was our experience.
Even though we till not be revisiting the site we did have a fantastic time. The private pond was so fun, and the bathroom by the campsite was convenient and clean. Loved all the farm animals!
Awesome little spot!
Camp Tule Elk was such a peaceful, pleasant surprise! Made a last minute reservation for myself, my boyfriend, his daughter & her friend for Labor Day weekend. When we first arrived, it was blazing hot with not a lot of shade, there was quite a bit of dog or horse poop at our site (site 3) that we had to shovel and the pond looked a bit smaller than expected. But after we set up and the sun started to go down, we experienced the really lovely calm feeling of the site. The girls had a BLAST taking the paddle boat and kayaks in the pond and petting all the goats and horses. Then one of the owners let them ride in a buggy with the mini horse multiple times and you would've thought they were in total heaven! Overall, we would definitely consider coming back, especially in a less hot time of year. Really appreciated the calm setting and the really lovely owners for making our trip extra special!
Camp tule elk was very nice and clean and very spacious. The added bonus were all the animals (goats, dogs and Horses) we got to see. We had camp site 1 which in our opinion was the best one. Our entire campsite was in the shade which was very nice. From the other campsites we seen they were all in the sun so we were very grateful we had picked campsite 1. We were next to the goats and dogs so it was nice to have some friends nex to us. The restroom was also next to us which was nice but we also shared it with everyone else. Which didnt end up being so bad. The other guest were also nice. We were also able to add on the propane fire pit the when we were there so Nolan was very nice doing that for us. Overall it was a pleasent stay.
Great get away
We had a good time at Camp Tule Elk. The campsite was very clean and well organized. There were cleaning supplies in the very impressive bathroom and it was very clean. We pitched our tent under shady trees on the gravel and it was very comfy. We had a nice shady spot with a breeze coming through. The kids enjoyed looking at the frogs and tadpoles in the pond and watching to goats, pony and horses. Sunsets were spectacular. This is a remote spot but if you are willing to take a bit of a drive on a windy road it’s not too long to Atascadero for some good food, parks, a small zoo and wine tasting is everywhere. Or you could just enjoy the remoteness and be disconnected from the world for a couple days.
Best hipcamp experience!
Nolan and Stacy were the best hipcamp hosts ever! The camp site was very comfortable and convenient. We had a bathroom with a sink and toilet within a few steps from our tent. 2 tables were available for us to use and the paddle boat and kayaks are such a special extra touch. We did the hike with the goats and it was a fantastic tour of the land and the goats were super friendly and adorable. Will definitely be back! It’s the Ritz Carlton of camping!
Very clean, very excluded, 50 miles to the nearest town. I try to leave my camp sites cleaner than I found them but there was nothing I could do.
If you want total exclusion this is the place.
