Love Camping at Ballard Walnut Farm

This is probably our 6th time staying at the Ballard Walnut Farm. Its our absolute favorite place to camp. Mike and Anne couldn't be nicer or more welcoming. There are so many nice amenities at each campsite. There are only two campsites and they are very spread out so it feels like your there by yourself. It's so pretty to camp among the trees. Our dogs love it here too. We love that you can walk to multiple dog friendly wineries and into the cute little town of ballard. Unfortunately they are going to have to stop allowing camping on their property, but we're certainly hoping it's just a temporary pause because we really love camping here!

We absolutely love staying on this Walnut Grove! Last time we came we had such a nice time, we invited friends to come with us on this trip. This grove is perfect for privacy and for sharing time with friends. Our friends enjoyed it just as much as us. We explored more of the town and went to Bob's Well Bread for breakfast. This walnut grove is so perfectly located. You can spend all your time on the grove, or venture out to the town for amazing food and wineries. We can't wait to come back!

We really enjoyed our stay at Chandler. Mike was very welcoming and it very quiet and peaceful. They have prepped a nicely outfitted spot between the walnut trees so you can forget about the world for a while.

Mike and Anne have thought of everything and spending a quiet night on their walnut farm was magical! Mike gave us a friendly welcome and a delicious gift bag of their walnuts as we arrived to a beautiful clean site with a bbq, picnic table with umbrella, a swing bench, corn hole and fairy lights! We arrived too late in the afternoon to walk down the road for wine tasting so will have to go next time. We did enjoy a morning walk to Bob’s Well Bread for breakfast which was so cute and convenient. We look forward to another stay in the future!

Very peaceful and close to either Los Olivos or Solvang. I would definitely bring my bikes next time. Great wineries close by. Specifically enjoyed Buttonwood Winery. Hosts were great and very accommodating. We'll come back next trip for wine tasting, centrally located is a plus.

Simple Quiet Private Camping!

Tucked away from mainstream Santa Ynez, but not so far from Los Olivos and Solvang that they can't easily be reached. Great that Mike and Anne did not overbuild with many more sites, which they could. Just 2 sites, which are not right next to each other. Set up is very comfortable and cozy. Tables, chairs, cornhole, fire ring. Very simple but nice. I like that they're not trying to do too much. We have a terrific stay. If your rig is 25' or under I'd recommend the Chandler site... it's a bit further from the entrance and the main access road, Alamo Pintado.

Thoughtfully set up, meticulously clean and so peaceful! My family and I loved our stay at Ballard Walnut Grove. Mike even came by to hand deliver walnuts (which were delicious!) Our spot had a ton of space and felt very private. We would absolutely stay again.

Not sure what’s more beautiful, the walnut farm, or Mike and Anne. The space itself is picturesque. As soon as we arrived Mike was there to help us put up our dog fence and walk us through everything we needed to know. When I texted him at 8pm that Choco-walnut cookies sounded good, he and Anne made them fresh on the spot and delivered them to our camp site within the hour. And if that wasn’t enough, the next morning Anne brought another bag of the cookies for our road trip home. Cannot say enough about these two. It’s safe to say we will be back time and time again.

Very spacious, private spot. The hosts are extremely kind, and the setting is beautiful and peaceful. We had a campfire and our dog Sophie loved it there. Would definitely visit again.

Such a pretty, quiet site. We love that it is within walking distance of two wineries and the cutest little coffee shop. On top of that, it is less than 2 miles from the lovely town of Los Olivos.

I can hardly find the words to describe how wonderful our time spent here was! Anne and Mike are fabulous hosts and so friendly! The complimentary walnuts were delicious and the homemade sourdough bread I purchased from Anne was delivered warm from the oven and was heavenly! My two newly adopted doxies were in heaven taking longs walks through the walnut grove and stopping to smell each and every squirrel hole. Our site was so welcoming with a picnic table, firepit, bistro set, and a bench swing. The site also had a BBQ and a garbage receptacle and was surrounded with fairy lights that came on at night. We traveled about visiting Solvang, Santa Ynez, Los Alamos, Buellton, and Lompoc Beach but the real prize was returning to our little piece of heaven in the Ballard Walnut Grove. Three nights was not enough in this magical place! Thank you, Mike and Anne, for making our stay so very special!!!! We will be back again soon!

Loved the Diamond 1 at Ballart Walnut Grove. We arrived and found a spacious site, with plenty of room between the trees and with a ready firepit and bean bag toss for the kids. Would definitely recommend!

Beautiful orchard. Very private as the other camp spot was like 100 ft away. Very nice fire pit and chairs. Had a picking table and a swing as well. Could t be more perfect for our first Hipcamp experience. Thank you.

The Ballard Walnut Grove was amazing! The owner was very accommodating and even offered Candied walnuts, sourdough, and Cookies for $10 each and so I grabbed one of each and they were worth every penny!!!! SO GOOD!!! Now that I'm writing this I'm craving more of those Candied slightly spicy walnuts!! The grounds were quiet and we even walked around in the mornings to take a look around and it was just perfectly peaceful and quiet which is what we needed! It was also just a short 40 min drive to Pismo beach from there and not even 5 minutes away from Solvang so we definitely got our money's worth and it was a memorable experience with the firewood they provided because our Children got to experience their first camping experience along with smores! PLUS there is an amazing wooden fort/park that is legendary for children to play at like 2 minutes away!!!

Fabulous the second time, too!

This was our second time visiting Ballard Walnut Grove. We had stayed in the Chandler site before, and this time we went with friends (who also loved it!) and we stayed at Diamond, the larger site. So fabulous, and a great location if you'd like to enjoy all the area has to offer, but come back and feel like you're camping in the middle of nowhere. We'll be back again!

Really loved the stay amongst the walnut trees and they tasted so good with locally farmed strawberries in a balsamic vinegar dressed salad!
Mike said we came just late enough (early June) such that the leaves were already coming onto the trees, offering more privacy. He also gave us some great tips for local establishments and bicycling.
As a tip for others, we took their smaller site (Chandler) and were able to back our 25' Airstream into it just fine. Savvy drivers should be able to get a 27' in as well.

Love how secluded our site was (diamond).It was delightful to chat with Mike, and he and Anne even left us a bag of shelled walnuts. They were so good that we bought 4 bags from their roadside farmstand for friends

What a special campsite! We had an amazing time at Mike & Anne's walnut grove. The site was flat, there was a firepit stocked with wood, a lovely porch swing, and when it got dark, we got to enjoy the lights strung up around on the site. The walnuts are delicious too! If you visit, be sure to walk over to the winery next door for a tasting too - We brought a bottle back to the campsite to enjoy under the stars.

This exceeded our expectations. Staying in a walnut orchard surrounded by vineyards was surreal. So quiet and peaceful. This will be a return trip for sure. Anne was a gracious hostess and welcomed us as well as provided recommendations. We are lucky to not live so far as we will def. rebook. Just what we needed.

Very thoughtfully set up. Site was also very quiet and we loved that it was so close to wineries etc. Mike came by and was very welcoming and the walnuts were a nice treat with our morning yogurt. Would definitely recommend.

The site was very level and clean and in a beautiful walnut Grove. the hosts provided a fire pit and firewood in addition to a picnic table and some easy easy chairs and a game of cornhole. Thank you to the hosts for the yummy walnuts. The house gave us some good recommendations for local eateries and sites. This was a very quiet site with only one other campervan. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.
