Hen Haven Hideaway
This was our first HipCamp stay and it didn't disappoint. Clear instructions before we arrived, and a lovely yard to tent in; spacious and welcoming. Dark skies for sleeping under the stars. Helpful hosts, friendly dog and cat. Gentle chickens offer a morning alarm and fresh eggs.

Just a few things: electricity, good cellphone reception indoors, short laneway from highway to destination, free firewoods from a shed behind a big storage building for the woodstove but newspapers are needed for starting a fire and free from out of town, no showers so drive half an hour to Bobcaygeon for a supermarket for jugs of spring water or a car wash for filling up a portable shower, available at Canadian Tire or Walmart.

Denise was a great communicator and very warm host. Due to our arrival time, she could not be there but she gave us perfect written instructions and we knew exactly where to camp and where her amenities were. We did not expect to have access to such a lovely bathroom and sure appreciated that too. We also really appreciated that dogs are permitted as we were tenting with our two small dogs. All in all a very positive experience!

Tent camping was lovely on Denise’s land! She was very accommodating of my last-minute reservation, and I was welcomed warmly. There is plenty of flat space to set up a tent, the bathroom is well-kept, the chickens make sweet and quiet clucking sounds, and there’s even a kindly dog who likes to be pet and have a ball thrown. I felt like if I’d needed anything, I absolutely could have asked. I would absolutely recommend to my friends to stay here, should they be passing through.

We loved camping out at Denise's backyard. We're new to hipcamping and we weren't sure of what to expect. Denise and her daughter were so kind and made it very comfortable for us. They also accommodated our last minute requests very gracefully. Communication was very clear, although we didn't have much cell phone reception. Bathroom was very clean and easily accessible. They're dog and cat were friendly and loving to us everytime we made bathroom visits :)
Highly recommend Denise's place if your passing by. We would definitely camp out there again. Thank you.

I loved staying in this charming little tent trailer! Denise and her daughter were terrific hosts, providing thoughtful extras while allowing me lots of privacy. The trailer was comfortable and well appointed, with pots and pans, a two-burner stove, potable water, electricity, mini fridge, and nice lamps, with fairy lights outside. The bed was extremely comfortable! The trailer's location (in the backyard but behind a thick stand of trees) made it feel very secluded. The local village is charming and has a coffee shop, Chinese restaurant and grocery store with ice cream. Will definitely return!

Denise & her family were so lovely! We were shown around by the teenager running the show for the summer who did an excellent job of explaining where everything was. The backyard where we set up our tent was immaculately maintained and the washroom we had access too was clean and well stocked! Thank you!
