This beautiful spot was re-forested with pine a number of years ago, and was sectioned off from the surrounding farmland, which is now maintained by the mennonite community.
It is 8 1/2 acres of wetland and forest, with a mown perimeter, and cool places to tuck into the forest for the night.
The current owner was a special educator, and now is slowly turning the land into her homestead.
There is a beautiful, spa quality outdoor shower next to a tidy and 'fancier than most' outhouse, a strawberry patch as well as wild alpine strawberries all over the property, a big dog and a small indoor cat keep her company.
Here is what the land offers:
-Bunkie in the Forest: A sweet 8x8 ft. space with new bunk and mattresses as of April 2023
-Strawberry Fields bunkie: an 10x12 space with a loft with a queen memory foam mattress and a main floor with a full futon and a small table
-Campsites: Meadow, Forest and River spots. Close to each other, but you'd never know it! All three are chill and serene places. The property backs onto a ten-foot swimming hole in an otherwise shallow part of the Saugeen River.
-RV Spot: With electric hook up ideal for RVs 30 feet and under

The terrain is mostly flat but interesting. Campsites are private with good separation from each other. ALL sites have 2 car parking, a picnic table, fire pit and covered wood for purchase. Campfires are permitted according to our approved burn plan before midnight.
5G/LTE cellphone service is good for Bell, Rogers and Telus networks. We have 3 outhouses on the premises and an outdoor hot shower.
FREE Firewood can be gathered on the forest floor or pay for on-site pre-cut wood. Outhouses are close to campsites....but not too close 💩
Port Rowan is only 12 minutes away by car, most amenities can be purchased only 1 minute away at the local Busy Bee gas station.
We are situated in the middle of a Recreation Hotspot! Our site is within 3 minutes of paddling the Big Creek, 3 to 10 minutes to several A+ hiking trails, 15 minutes to amazing freshwater beaches of Long Point and Turkey Point, and the area is abound with cycling trails, motorcycle routes, geocaching, boat launches (we have room here for your boat!), cider/wine tours, and more! We are the perfect basecamp for everything the Long Point Bay area has to offer
We have some great watering holes nearby like burning kiln winery, hounds of Erie and Charlotteville brewing company.

By a combination of good timing and good luck, I was able to make that dream come true and in the spring of 2014 I acquired this land with the hopes of building my dream water ski lake on it. 7 years later, we have a thriving water ski club and are constantly making improvements to the site. We now have decided to add some sites for rent to share this incredible property with others outside the water ski community.
Site #1 is a small cabin that sleeps 3 and site #2 is a small houseboat that has been converted to a bunkie.

There are four acres of woods to explore right beside Townsend Lake, a small, quiet lake perfect for canoeing, kayaking, and paddle boarding. The lake warms up quickly in the spring and is great to swim in. There is a cabin that sleeps three and a bunkie that sleeps two. A full barbecue with propane is provided. Many camping items are also available, like a Coleman stove, tables, and dishes. There is also a levelled off tent site with a private fire pit.
You will have access to the dock and a large fire pit area which are part of the owner’s cottage on the property. There will be a port-a-potty on site.
Lake Townsend is close to several conservation areas and 12 minutes to the quaint town of Markdale with several shops, a bakery, and a large grocery store.
The city of Owen Sound is 35 minutes away. Harrison Park and Inglis Falls are huge attractions in the area. Each area has its own beauty and the hiking path between the two is quite spectacular.
Parts of the famous hiking trail, The Bruce Trail, are also easily accessible from Townsend Lake.
But once you get settled in, you may just want to rest and relax at the lake! It has its own beauty and serenity and is home to many bird species and other wildlife.

Heavens Acres has been a stop over since the 1850's for people travelling by horse from Toronto to Owen Sound.
We have 100 acres surrounded by another 200 acres of conservation land.
There is camping in the pine forest as well at the very back of the property where you will find a hardwood bush with trails.
Please note that the hipcamp map shows a large body of water on the property, as does google driving maps.
It is a marsh, not a lake.
Google Earth shows it better.
There is however, a creek and pond, but don't bring your boat. :)
This is a "LEAVE NO TRACE" campsite, so please take all garbage when you leave.
There is no water or power, but there is an outhouse
Your furry friends are allowed for free but if you have extra people please pay for them.
You can adjust your booking if there are more people than originally requested.
This covers costs like insurance and private property access, property taxes and the huge initial investment.
Please note that in the winter months. There’s a $25 surcharge.
This is required for snow removal to access the sites that are at at least 1 km into the bush.
We are in a snow belt area and it is very difficult to keep the sites open in the winter.
Four-wheel-drive is required for access in the winter!

We had such a great stay at this beautiful place. The cabin is very cozy. The dining area is lovely, the BBQ setup is awesome, and there are so many chairs and benches to sit and just relax. They thought of everything, coffee, small touches, all those details that make a stay easy and comfortable. The hosts were really caring and attentive, and it shows in every part of the place. We felt like there was always something to do: board games, outdoor activities, There is a nice lake just a minute away, perfect for canoeing and kayaking. We definitely recommend it.

Weekend Trip to Willow Pond Haven
Scott & Lisa were incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. They started us off with a quick tour of the property and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. They were also great about checking in by message to make sure everything was going well.
The campground and property were very tidy, and they provided most of the essentials we needed for a comfortable stay. You can really tell they take pride in the place and care about their guests. We had a great experience and would definitely recommend staying here!

Such a cool and unique camping experience! The site is super private, remote and tucked right into the forest — exactly what we were looking for. Rick was incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home.
We came with our 5 young kids and 2 dogs, and honestly had the best time. There are trails after trails to explore, a beautiful swimming pond (available to use when the cottage isn’t being rented), and so much space to just wander, explore and enjoy being outside.
If you’re looking to truly unplug, get away from everything and camp surrounded by nothing but forest, this is your spot! 🌲
And of course, the plane just makes the whole experience that much cooler! ✈️🏕️ Such a hidden gem — we will absolutely be back!

This is a great spot to go and get away! Lisa and Scott were amazing hosts from beginning to end! They were there to greet us upon arrival and give us a tour of the property. Communication was a breeze with Lisa during our stay! They checked in to ensure we had everything we needed while being respectful of our time and privacy. They were very accommodating and the property was beautiful. The bunkies are closer together than we thought but in bunkie #1 we still felt we had a decent amount of privacy from the neighbouring bunkie and a nice view of the pond. The chickens were an added bonus! The kids just loved feeding them! :)
This was my first time ever booking something like this, so I was quite nervous. The property is well kept , the bunkies are super clean with bedding and pillows provided and the outdoor bathroom was well maintained. I was not disappointed and will definitely book here again!

Jake’s Chalet offers all the comforts of home while being off the grid. We really enjoyed exploring the trails and having campfires at night. We really enjoyed our stay and our dog was in paradise!

The environment is lovely and full of different activities such as kayaking canoeing tubing trails you wouldn’t finish in one day! Our cabin was very comfy and Margaret was super helpful with showing us around and answer our questions. Def recommended 👌🏻

The place is amazing, it exceeded our expectations ten thousand percent. It has very beautiful views during the day, and even more so at night. I've never seen such a starry sky in one night!

Weekend Trip to Willow Pond Haven
Everything was extremely good from check-in to check-out. Lisa and her husband are excellent hosts. The cabin is new, spotless, and clean. The beds are very comfortable, the bed sheets and blankets are cozy and clean.
Very Private and quiet. Very nice relaxing pond where you can swim or do some water sports, Equipment is provided by the hosts or you can sit around the pond read and relax
You can purchase Eggs, they are delicious

For the new campers, there is no running water that has to be brought in by the host, no electricity, but they are very nice and cozy solar lamps are provided and no internet which is a blessing you go there to rest.🤗

1 night at Willow Pond Haven
The hosts were absolutely lovely — warm, kind, and welcoming. They greeted us with such care and hospitality, even though we arrived quite late.
The place itself is truly breathtaking and you can feel how much love and thought has gone into creating it. Surrounded by peaceful nature, everything feels quiet, harmonious, and serene. It’s the perfect place to slow down, simply enjoy the beauty of life, and truly rest both body and soul.

2 nights at Cedar Acres
This was my second Hipcamp, and Margaret was a wonderful host. Margaret's cottage was within steps, but I had the bunkie, and the rest of the property all too myself. I especially liked the silence of Towsend Lake. I enjoyed the kayaking, free firewood, and the locality (15-30 min drive to several towns). Margaret even had a small gift waiting inside the bunkie for her guest. I hope to be back there again one day. Thank you Margaret!

3 nights at White Pines Cabin Retreat
Our stay at White Pines was amazing. It's even more beautiful in person. The cabin was comfortable, outdoor kitchen, seating and activities fantastic. We even took a dip in the stream. Out house very clean.
Jillian and Jim have thought of everything. We couldn't think of anything that would have made our stay more delightful.
Lots of natural attractions and activities close to the property. We are ready to book again for next year!
