Learn more about this land:This comfortable and spacious yurt is located on the 30-acre property of the historic Paisley Mill along the Teeswater river. With three large windows, a dome skylight, and wool felt insulation, the yurt provides a wonderful "glamping" experience.
There is a double bed and a single bed in the yurt along with a cooler, table, chairs, and storage space. In the future there will be solar power, but right now the lighting available is by a battery powered lantern (provided). Next to the yurt is a picnic table, fire pit, and a sawdust toilet.
There are basic utensils, plates, bowls, pots and pans available in the yurt.

Important to Note:
The only heating source is a wood stove. You need to be comfortable using a wood stove safely to stay at this yurt.

Tent Camping Sites: upon arrival, choose from car camping (close to our house) to several very private walk-in (100m-300m) spots on our 50 acres.
Yurta Stay: the 4 seasons Yurta sits in the middle of our property atop a very private elevated area. Listen to subtle sounds permeate the yurt while enjoying the comfort of an insulated wood stove heated space year round! To increase the full effect of this experience, the Yurta is accessible on foot (300m walk from the car parking). A trolley is provided to transport your personal belongings.
Our Yurta provides a 226 square foot 4 season space. It has an operable dome and 3 large windows. It is insulated with 100% wool felt and is outfitted with a wood stove. It has no vinyl nor any toxic materials.
The Yurta space includes:
- 2 custom raised beds with mattresses. These could fit 2-4 people. An extra cot is available if needed.
- a wood stove
- an outdoor fire pit
- firewood for purchase ($8 / bundle)
- table and some chairs
- an outdoor dry toilet on a platform, toilet paper, water for washing hands
- drinking water, flush toilet, and shower accessible at the main house
- parking is by the main house which is a 300m walk to the Yurta
Please bring with you:
- pillows, beddings, or sleeping bags.

A large radiant-floor-heated circular building with wooden rafters and skylight. This one-of-a-kind backyard yurt has been intentionally decorated and appointed with self-retreats in mind. Perfect for self retreats, romantic couples getaways and writers retreats.
We are fully stocked with yoga and meditation props. We intentionally do not have WiFi. This is a place to unplug and reconnect with your self, others, and nature.
The space
The half bathroom has a composting toilet and a sink for washing. We have provided environmentally friendly, unscented body soap.
We have also provided environmentally friendly dish washing soap.
Outdoors has a double hammock and a hammock chair beside the river. There is a fire pit for your use as well as outdoor seating areas.
Sorry no dogs/pets (unless a certified service dog that has been pre-approved).

Weekend Trip to Yurt at Paisley Mill
My partner and I stayed at Emily’s Yurt this past thanksgiving weekend 2025 as a last minute booking. Emily accommodated our stay and was very quick to respond. The yurt was stunning, we’ve stayed at many hip camps and this was by far the best experience. From a eco friendly outhouse with a wood chip system, very clean and well stocked with necessities. The yurt had all supplies needed, along with many games and other activities to do. Can’t thank Emily enough for sharing her beautiful property and being so welcoming.

We absolutely loved our stay at Judy’s Yurt! From the moment we arrived, Judy’s kindness and warm welcome made us feel right at home. The property is truly special — peaceful, private, and filled with natural beauty.
The yurt itself was clean, cozy, and very comfortable, giving us the perfect balance of rustic charm and relaxation. We especially enjoyed the sauna, which was such a treat after a day outdoors. The natural swimming pond was refreshing and serene, and the separate pond full of turtles and wildlife was magical to sit by — it felt like stepping into a little nature sanctuary.
Judy’s property is a place where you can completely unwind, reconnect with nature, and enjoy a unique experience you won’t find anywhere else. The time we spent here was absolutely worth it, and we left feeling refreshed and grateful. We would highly recommend Judy’s Yurt to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway and can’t wait to come back ourselves!

We had a really great stay in the yurt. The farm is very picturesque and the hosts were very hospitable and told us all about the farm and the heritage breeds.

Amazing experience! The yurt is gorgeously hand painted, set in a beautiful mature forest, with hundreds of trilliums blooming everywhere. The mattress was comfy and warm, we grilled our supper on the fire outside and watched the stars peek out over head. On the way back through the path, you get a beautiful view of the farm and then we were greeted by cows who came running for head scratches. What a wonderful stay, I hope to be back soon.

We stayed at Glampanee for New Year’s Eve, and the experience could not have been better. Billy was the best host and went above and beyond to make our stay special. I won’t go into detail, because I don’t want to spoil the little surprises that turned a great stay into an incredible one! With a delicious dinner in our bellies, the wood stove keeping us warm, and the rain falling on the roof, it was as cozy as could be. If you’re considering staying anywhere, stay at Glampanee!

I got my husband Jim to bring extra wood just incase we ran out, BUT the wood was plentiful/ beds comfy/ sooooo many books and games, and the hot beverages were a real treat 🙂. Having our coffee this morning while sitting on the bench by the water, and listening to the birds was a great way to start our day. When we arrived we noticed that there was no water in the jug for washing dishes or drinking, but we were able to get some. No need to take cleaning supplies like I did, because the YURT had all of that plus a very clean outhouse that did not smell at all.
