Purchased in 1989, this small piece of heaven was developed by Peter & Suelaine Poot into a home for their family and beginning in 2003, a welcoming alpaca farm.
The bush area has been used for camping by many local and visiting scouting groups over the years.
In 2021, we joined Hip Camp and now allow others to enjoy the beauty, peace, and challenges of camping in our bush.
The alpacas are a peaceful herd to watch as they graze their way through the day. Crias (baby alpacas), love to pronk and play in the pastures near their mothers. During May you may observe us shearing the alpacas.
June is the birthing and breeding month. They birth quickly, so watch carefully.
Tours of the farm with explanations of the fibre harvest process and opportunities to walk the alpacas are available to be booked through our website.
Recycling bins are available but please take non-recyclable garbage with you when you leave.

A piece of heaven is what awaits you here. If you're looking for privacy your search is over. Imagine having your own island you reach by walking across the 15 metre bridge with a few areas to set up your tent(s) from where you'll fall asleep listening to the sound of the spring flowing into the pond, what bliss. The other site has a large rectangular pond of its own to ensure everyone has privacy.
Your drinking water comes from Mother Nature, not a well, true spring water that's icy cold and so refreshing.. There are two spring fed ponds which makes them revitalizing on a hot day when you go for a swim.
We are located 10 minutes away from the town of Hanover and the Allan Park Conservation is right beside us and has numerous walking and off road bicycling trails. The Saugeen River is 5 minutes away which you can kayak or tube down, too much fun that is.
Our property offers beautiful scenery, virtual privacy, you see glimpses of our home, peace and tranquility with the backdrop of Mother Nature to be heard, geese, wild turkeys, deer, lots of songbirds, coyotes and oh yes, our big friendly lovable
pectaular and later the stars twinkle above and maybe you'll even see a satellite high above while you're stargazing.
Each site has a table (you'll need to bring lawn chairs), firepit with a cooking grill, and a supply of wood you'll have to purchase from us upon arrival, as we are a forestry managed property. An outhouse is a pleasant walk within minutes of the site. Water for dishes and general washing can just be taken from the pond (DO NOT DRINK) Not that it would kill you, lol. Ray will keep you supplied with fresh spring water for drinking.
New to this site is a solar powered string of 300 lights, two single person floats
There are numerous things to do within a 15 minute drive. A couple dams, 2 conservation parks, drive-in theatre, casino, horse racing, small stock car racing track (great for young kids), two local breweries, a busy local butcher and the Saugeen River. With more destinations as you move outward.
We promise you won't be disappointed and can't wait to share our piece of Heaven with you.
TAKE NOTE You will be charged $500 per bag/item of refuse you leave behind. WE DO NOT HAVE GARBAGE PICKUP, besides which you are supposed to leave the site as you found it.
CANCELATIONS: IF you cancel within two weeks of your arrival date, your money will NOT be refunded nor will you be able to change the date. One of the few campgrounds where the river is not too deep for the children. Plenty of places to take a dip. Lots of little fish and crayfish to keep the little ones entertained.
Host lives nearby so you can contact him anytime.
The site we had(Riverbend, I believe) was far from others and felt very private. No adjacent campers nearby.
Less than 5 min drive to Harriston if you need anything from a grocery store(Foodland). Palmerston is about 10 to 15 mins if you want an alternative(Food Basics). There are also farms nearby as you drive if you want to buy certain items such as eggs, fruits and firewood. Host sells firewood right to your site @10 dollars a bag.
Being close to town, we were able to drive for the Farmers Market at Palmerston which is open on Saturdays and there was a fundraiser dinner from another town. Lots of activities from the different towns nearby. People were lovely.

We had a wonderful time during our stay! The hosts were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. Jenna helped us find a spot where we could set up our tent trailer as close to the river as possible, and it was so peaceful being able to hear the water flowing at night. While sitting around the fire, we could look up through the trees and see the stars—it was such a beautiful and relaxing setting. Also being able to get down to the river and sit by the river. Our dog loved splashing in the water and being able to walk in and cool off.
The hosts checked in with us after our first night to make sure everything was going well. We mentioned that a light in the outhouse would be helpful, and by that afternoon, they had already installed one! We really appreciated how responsive and thoughtful they were. Any questions we had were answered promptly and clearly, and they made us feel very welcome throughout our stay.

We had a great Family weekend camping with our trailer and tents. Josh, the host was great and his family was very nice. He accommodated us after discovering our camp site was located near some bee hives and one of us is allergic to bees. He has lots of camp sites nicely spread apart with out houses spread out and a creek running through the property. It was beautiful and peaceful, we will be back again.

Josh's farm is beautiful and expansive, he and his family take great care to make an inviting atmosphere. It's ideal whether you're group camping, going as a couple, going solo, going with a dog. You'll have lots of trails winding, creek babbling, dragonflies and butterflies thriving. Bring lots of bug spray for mosquitoes and you'll be comfy!

A buddy and I visited this past weekend for 2 nights. We had such a great time. The island oasis site was gorgeous, well shaded and a nice pond surrounding it for swimming. The site was well secluded and provided both privacy and scenery. Not far from the site was my favourite spot, the natural spring. Incredibly clear and great ice cold drinking water. It is a must see! Terry and Ray were wonderful hosts, very accommodating, and full of stories. The outhouse was clean and rather cozy. They provided plenty of wood for the $25 and a big jug of that clear spring water. The string lights around the fire provided little lighting but the fire and fireflies provided enough. A great spot for stargazing and getting away from the busy city. 10/10 would absolutely return.

I like a little more solitude when I'm camping and Boyd this place deliver! The summertime is always tough because everybody and their uncle has filled the campgrounds almost every day of the week. Not this place. The spaces are well spread apart and this one by the river was completely secluded. A gorgeous site and a wonderful view of the river. This is the place for you. If you like some back to basics camping, don't expect any glamping features here, which is just perfect by me. The host was absolutely amazing. Chris actually let me check in a little bit early and actually drove me to my site. He didn't have to do that. He did it because he clearly cares about his campers. I'll definitely be back to this spot again a couple times this summer. If Crystal have me lol 😀

We were given coordinates vs an actual address from Hipcamp but it was not accurate at all. Please communicate with the host re: getting an actual address. However when we finally arrived, we were provided a flat campsite for our tent in a wonderful forest that was shaded and private. However there was plenty of noise from cars, trucks and motorcycles from the road nearby. We didn’t mind but if you are looking for a campsite that is totally quiet then this campsite might not be for you.
The river was very close by but inaccessible for a swim or even to put your toe in it. A canoe is available but with only one paddle and one lifejacket. This was also a disappointment. There is a lovely sauna but we were asked to provide our own wood. No big deal but it wasn’t mentioned in the listing. Jenna was truly a lovely hostess but we would have appreciated a more accurate listing.

Weekend Trip to Willow Pond Haven
We loved our stay at Willow Pond Haven! Lisa and Scott have included everything you need for a relaxing weekend away without having to worry about packing too much. They were incredibly responsive to any of our needs during our stay and made sure we had everything we needed. The cabin was very clean and spacious, and the water was absolutely beautiful. We will absolutely be back again. Thank you Scott and Lisa for the hospitality!
