We arrived fairly late and Charles was very accommodating, guided us down to our spot that felt beautuful even in the almost dark night, Charles said “wait until tomorrow”. When we woke up it was a magic show looking over the valley, the river and the gorgeous blue heron in our sites. It was breathtaking and we realized Charles had given us the best site in the house (which we didn’t book).. wow! Such an unexpected gift and tons of firewood too, so super private and you can tell Charles puts A LOT of care into his property. He left us to ourselves for the stay checking in through the intense storm, and then on the day we packed up we ended up having the best chat, such a great guy and we were fortunate to meet one of his wonderful children, he was so sweet. Was the best trip we’ve had, very excited to go back. If you’re looking for privacy, epic views, seeing gorgeous wild animals in their natural habitat, barely any mosquitos and a wonderful experience. This is the place!” And close to a bunch of cute little towns and hamlets, Elora gorge etc. ps we also saw geese everyday in the river, ducks, bald eagle, osprey and an amazzzzing rainbow after a storm. Beautiful, private lot with an amazing view of the river. Host was very welcoming and friendly. Would definitely recommend. Fit our two big tents / sun tent and car with plenty of space still to hang around in

The back glen was absolutely perfect. I went in the end of September and the weather was perfect. Charles was very kind and accommodating as well! You can fish and swim in the water, as well as walk some trails along the fields. I set up a hammock by the convenient porta potty and it was perfect. The ground is very level as well for anyone with tents. I will definitely be coming back again!

Tent camping was great along the waterfront. Charles is very welcoming and the land is private. He is really accommodating and helpful. Would for sure return!

Wonderful place to stay! Beautiful view of the river, incredibly secluded. You feel like you are the only ones camping on the property. The only thing we needed was a picnic table to make this the best site.

We had a great time. Charles was very good at responding and communicating. He was very helpful in getting my vehicle to the drop off site so we could drive back to camp after a day of kayaking and fishing. I recommend and will be back again.

This campsite was absolutely beautiful and so peaceful. The waterfront view was stunning, and the whole area had a calm, relaxing vibe. The outhouse was clean, which was really appreciated, and the grass was soft enough to go barefoot — perfect for lounging or playing. There was also a huge open space to run around or enjoy outdoor games. A great spot for anyone looking to unwind in nature!

We (my boyfriend and myself) stayed at the waterfront, we had a great time fishing, and just soaking up the sun. We forgot firewood and Charles was very helpful and brought us some. It was a beautiful view with nothing but the sounds of nature, all in all it was just a great time.

The site was very private and very comfortable. Slightly tricky to find, but once there, it has a bit of a view of the water but mostly it is a cozy little spot. The spot we had was right next to the outhouse which was a bonus (the outhouse was very clean as far as outhouses go)…It is a bit of a walk for some of the others. They are working on improving their sites by adding picnic benches as well.

As a first timer to the app/service, I am damn lucky to get Charles as a host and you will be as well. The property is very well kept and which ever spot (but more so the waterfront) will have you immersed in nature. The toilet onsite was surprisingly very clean.
You like nature sounds? From the cows mooing in the distance, the roosters in the AM and the trouts making splashes when they jump in the evening. Its bliss.
My dog was able to roam off leash and had a blast. Lots of walkable paths on the property and even near by but we were enjoying the sceneary way to much to leave.

We had the chance to visit a couple of hipcamps this year and let me tell you something, this one is by far our favourite. There are 2 sites that have direct access to the river (not the back glen that we booked but since we were the only campers, the host arranged for us that we stay by the waterfront deck). This place really felt like we were in dream. The sceneries are breathtaking, especially in the morning because of the fog that settles down, and at night because of all the visible stars. We even saw a shooting star. One of the best part of our stay was kayaking down the river (kayak available directly from the site). Finally, I have to give a special mention to the host Charles. He was so kind and we really appreciated his hospitality. Great communication from start to finish. Can’t wait to go back.

Camping here was amazing. It was our first time hip camping and Charles made it a terrific first experience. The view was wonderful, plenty of places to walk, an amazing river for canoeing, and overall gorgeous place. He made sure we were all set, gave us firewood, and boosted the car when it died. 10/10 would recommend.

Charles was very welcoming when we arrived and made sure we had everything we needed. Since we were the only ones there, he was kind enough to show us all his sites so we could pick. To be honest they’re all beautiful and so well kept. Each has a lovely view of the river and would feel private even if there were other campers there.

The Back Glen was great! I stayed with my rescue dogs and we really appreciated the privacy, being at the further side of the property. There was a lot of space to set up, the firepit was well kept, the outhouse was very clean and the grounds were well kept with freshly cut grass.
One thing I didn't realize in my research of the location was that there is no direct water access for fishing or swimming, but I didn't ask in advance! The scenery is beautiful. Charles was a friendly and welcoming host at arrival. He checked in on day 2 to make sure I was comfortable and respected my privacy throughout my stay. I would stay here again!

One of my favourite places to go back to! Charles is so kind helpful, and really care that I had a great time. I would recommend camping here if you enjoy nature, talk grass, and beautiful scenery.

2nd time back to this little piece of paradise!! Brought 3 of our adult children this time. They had a great time!
Got to do a kayak trip down the river with host Charles and his brother. Got to see a huge bald eagle!! And Charles had a white tail deer cross the river right in front of him!!
Speaking of deer crossing, my wife had a deer run past her, less than 2 meters away from her!!

Me and my husband stayed for a night and had a wonderful time. Charles was very nice and accommodated us to a better site as it was vacant. He was responsive in time. The Toilet was clean and close at the site.
We will definitely come back again.

Would definitely recommend!
Pros:
- peaceful property with river views from every site.
- Charles is a lovely human and super friendly.
- Communicative and flexible on arrival
- each site has a fire pit and assuming no fire bans you can have all the fires in the world
- firewood available on site for you to buy from Charles
- Outhouse for those who prefer a throne :P
Considerations:
- You must check in with Charles, so its not contact free
- the three sites are mostly separate, but you will pass/be passed by other campers as they come and go
- The waterfront property can be seen from site 2, so if you are looking for total privacy, go site 3
- there is only 1 outhouse, which is by site 3, so some overlap between sites there.
- the river isn't the cleanest and has a ton of vegetation, so not really a spot for swimming + your dog might smell a bit funky if you let them go in.
