Camping at Angela's hipcamp was the perfect start to our weekend of canoeing/fishing! The site was perfect! Right infront of the saugeen river. You can fish right at your site if you like fishing, just a few steps down to the shore line. There was a picnic table provided, which was fantastic! The fire pit is set up right under a clearing where you can see millions of stars on a clear night, it was beautiful and so peaceful. Nice even ground for your tent. Very relaxing atmosphere and as felt very private. Its a beautiful property. We added firewood to our booking, we definitely recommend doing that! We couldn't believe the amount of wood she left right on site for us! It burned so nicely and there was an abundance! She made our trip so easy and so relaxing! We will absolutely return with our kids next time! Thank you so much for a perfect night!

A little slice of heaven along the river.Beautiful trail to explore.Luke and Angela made sure I was taken care of.the site was very big as it overlapped onto the neighboring site for now so I could back in facing the river.Very shaded but I found sunny spots.Thinking next time I will try the Dam Spot.also sites are very private and spaced out.Great space.Great people.

We enjoyed camping on Luke and Angela’s property. We were accommodated last minute with a large group due to having to relocate because of the Wildfires in the North. Thank you very much!! Angela was very helpful and gave clear, easy directions to her property and site. It was spacious and clean. Firewood was stacked up neatly under a tree ready for use. There was another site nearby but not noisy and we still had privacy. The sound of the moving waters was quite peaceful. This was my second time camping on the property but a different site. I will definitely come back next season.

What a lovely family! I'm thorned with this review because if I tell everyone that this place is the next best thing after paradise - on earth, I will not have a peaceful spot when I return next... However, Angela and Luke went out of their way to make my stay as comfortable as possible, it wouldn't be fair to not leave a positive review. If you enjoy peace and quiet but still be close to all amenities, if you love beautiful scenery or go to sleep to the sounds of a lazy river, this is the spot for you! Lots of land to explore, gorgeous mature cedar forest, fields of different grains and cereals... I can't possibly enumerate all of what this place has to offer. Respectfully enjoy a one of a kind to keep intact this jewel of a retreat from the big cities' hustle and bustle. Love love love 💖

Wow, now we understand why the reviews are flawless… because this site truly is perfect. We stayed at the Dam Spot for two nights and loved every single minute. The site was private, beautifully maintained with neatly mowed grounds, spotless, and just steps from the river. There’s something magical about waking up, opening the door of your camper, and being greeted with that stunning view right outside. It’s the kind of experience that instantly relaxes you and makes you never want to leave. Angela and her husband were so warm and welcoming when they stopped by with their pups, and our dog loved the visit too! We absolutely look forward to returning as soon as we can, it’s a little piece of paradise.

This site was beautiful! Sheltered, but not too much! Lots of flies this year, but flies were bad everywhere this year! The river is shallow at the site, and not far down the river it opens up! Kayaking and floating were what we spent most of our time doing! The wood was dry, great for burning and we loved the option of buying our wood all at once with options for how much we needed! Lots of space on the site and to roam around! If you forget anything it’s just a 5 minute drive to Hanover! We will definetly be coming back! We were a party of 5, and a dog! They were very accommodating when I told them about our GSD(she is reactive). The owner made it clear she just wanted us to really enjoy our time there and we definetly did!

With 80 acres of The Land Between- the ecotone where the Great Canadian Shield meets the St. Lawrence Lowlands- it's easy to live well. Kilometres of trails criss-crossing the property, minutes' drive to larger networks of cross-country ski trails and lakes for big and small boating, swimming and fishing or getting the necessities at the local family-owned grocery store, or hardware store mean you really don't have to go far to get big and small adventures in every day. We can all watch the birds- big and small, visit trees and waterfowl migrating with the seasons over the wetland. We have a number of canoes, paddles, PFDs and safety kits, along with all the camping equipment you'd need for day adventures or backcountry canoe camping trips available at an additional coompetitive rate. Silent Lake is a beautiful provincial park 15 minutes' drive to the north with more cross country ski trails, a front-country zero motor boat lake (hence the name). There are walk-in and car-camping sites at Silent Lake. Our property nearly backs into Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park; at nearly 40,000 hectares it's the largest provincial park south of Algonquin. We can give you lots of tips on canoe tripping routes through the park, from easy to difficult, or you can just head into the park for the day, head to Loon Call Lake boat access for a swim & picnic- we strongly recommend the annual Ontario Parks Day Use Permit- totally worth it. Given that North Kawartha Hideaway is located on Highway 28, we are first served in terms of road maintenance in the winter months. Highway 28 has seen some significant roadwork improvements from Peterborough to Apsley over the last 5 years, all wrapped up now, so it’s just a bit slower on the cottage-going weekends.

Welcome to Cedar Creek Forest Camping! Voted second best campsite in Canada in 2021 and ranked number 2 in Ontario in 2022. I have 97 acres of very private camping. The forest is a bird watcher’s and nature lover’s paradise. I have developed miles of flat groomed trails and a 3-acre pond (plus several bush ponds). The sites are spread around the pond and are close but not right beside it. There is an abundant amount of wildlife to explore: birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects and mammals call this home. There is a small swimming hole on the island but otherwise the pond is full of aquatic life. The sites and trails are maintained all year long and the forest is quiet and beautiful. I have planted over 3000 trees with the help of the Severn Sound Environmental Association. The forest is registered as a managed woodlot with the province and habitat preservation/restoration is the priority goal. Please DO NOT bring firewood for your visit. I have large bags of cured firewood that was sustainable harvested from the forest available. Invasive insects and disease can be transferred from imported wood. Guests are welcome to quietly explore the forest trails but are asked to stay on the trail. Many birds and animals nest in the forest. My campsite is family-friendly (and pet-friendly), and 420 friendly too. Guests can easily drive up to and park at all campsites. My camp site is tolerant and respectful of all humans, animals and things. The Yurtle structures were built from Hemlock trees that were cut from this forest and processed into boards, then engineered into unique camping huts. Large windows capture the glory of the surrounding forest and sun sets, while wood stoves warm campers on those cold days/nights. It was 1984 when John found his ‘diamond in the rough’, 20 acres with an orchard on the outskirts of Brantford. O.K., so the house was nothing to write home about but perfect for building a construction yard…no neighbors except for the family across the road that used their property to build log homes. By 1987 the old house was gone, a new one was being built and a shop for working on heavy equipment had been located about 200 ft. from Dr. the back door. It wasn’t until 1996 that things changed very much. Yes, the property around the house had benefitted from a wide array of trees and shrubs that John saved from the construction/demolition jobs he had done and that still thrive today but no big projects (except for equipment purchases) were ongoing. A chance meeting with the neighbor across the road one day resulted in the following dinner conversation, ‘How was your day’ I chirped. ‘Not bad, so-and-so didn’t come in; the truck broke down and I took it for repair; I bought the property across the road, and oh, yeah I’ll need a ride after dinner to pick up the truck’ was John’s casual reply. ‘What was that’? I pressed. ‘Yes, I need a ride after dinner to pick up the truck’ he repeated with a bit more volume. Of course like anyone, I had questions, ‘Do you want peas or corn with dinner’? ‘What time do you want to go to get the truck’? ‘The property across the road’, 10 acres, still has the 4 storey barn with its twin tiled silos which was built in 1914 and the big white house with wrap around porch that once was home to a Doctor and his family. Built so the Doctor could see his patients in the front with the family living in the back was very common in the day. Things remained relatively peaceful until 2000 when after studying alpacas for more than 6 years I bought our first three. Back in 2000 alpacas and llamas were not frequently seen on farms and because they could been seen from the road they received A LOT of attention. People driving by would stop and ask about them, ask if they could take a picture or two and that was when I would hear over and over again ‘You have a beautiful place here, I wish I/we could stay’. Well, if you want to visit and stay in the city it’s doable, we call it a hotel. But visiting a farm and staying well, that isn’t so easy. Each year we would see more and more families coming to ‘The Farm’ as they would call it. Some came to see the alpacas and horses, some came for a stroll and to check out the horse drawn milk and bread delivery wagons, some to have family birthday parties, others to have engagement/wedding/Christmas card pictures…and so many asked if there was any way they could spend a day or two. In 2021 during a conversation with a friend I mentioned we were in the process of gutting the 1100 sq. ft. space downstairs and turning it into an Airbnb! Right away she said, ‘I don’t know why you don’t have a Hipcamp? You’ve got that great area by the new barn that Hipcampers would love’! After a little investigation I found out what a Hipcamp was…and as they say, the rest is future.

Hemlock Point Campground is set on a private waterway fed by the Black River, nestled among forests and rocky ridges. Internet is limited (cell signal is okay) but the wildlife (some rare) is abundant. Each campsite is spacious and well equipped, with a private driveway, toilet, bbq/Coleman, screenhouse and more. As well as using the canoe and/or kayak provided, campers are also welcome to hike the marked and groomed waterfront trail (over 2 km) or others within the 56 acre property, just down the road is the yellow bridge over the Black River where a decent swimming hole can be found (Look for the groomed trail on the right just after the yellow bridge and follow it to the rapids). ATV's are permitted on the road, (gateway to trails to Lingham, Deer Rock, Caniff, and Skootamatta Lakes, and more) and friendly dogs are welcome off leash. This is a unique gelogical landscape, situated between Mt. Moriah, the Elzevir pluton complex and the Black River in an ultramafic zone, with coloured quartz veins and pillowed granite outcroppings. Mixed forest with varied species of deciduous and conifer trees - due to aerial seeding after a forest fire over 80 years ago, leaving charred stumps that can still be found from natural char preservation. Home to pileated woodpeckers, hawks, eagles and kingfishers, otters, fishers, salamanders, brown river trout and everything in between, either from the vantage of a hammock or on a hike in the forest this natural site won't disappoint.

Heavens Acres has been a stop over since the 1850's for people travelling by horse from Toronto to Owen Sound. We have 100 acres surrounded by another 200 acres of conservation land. There is camping in the pine forest as well at the very back of the property where you will find a hardwood bush with trails. Please note that the hipcamp map shows a large body of water on the property, as does google driving maps. It is a marsh, not a lake. Google Earth shows it better. There is however, a creek and pond, but don't bring your boat. :) This is a "LEAVE NO TRACE" campsite, so please take all garbage when you leave. Please note that in the winter months. There’s a $25 surcharge. This is required for snow removal to access the sites that are at at least 1 km into the bush. We are in a snow belt area and it is very difficult to keep the sites open in the winter. Four-wheel-drive is required for access in the winter!

It is 8 1/2 acres of wetland and forest, with a mown perimeter, and cool places to tuck into the forest for the night. The current owner was a special educator, and now is slowly turning the land into her homestead. There is a beautiful, spa quality outdoor shower next to a tidy and 'fancier than most' outhouse, a strawberry patch as well as wild alpine strawberries all over the property, a big dog and a small indoor cat keep her company. Here is what the land offers: -Bunkie in the Forest: A sweet 8x8 ft. space with new bunk and mattresses as of April 2023 -Strawberry Fields bunkie: an 10x12 space with a loft with a queen memory foam mattress and a main floor with a full futon and a small table -Campsites: Meadow, Forest and River spots.
