This sandy beach park is located on Lake Superior and is perfect for families as the waters are warm and shallow. While in the area you can also try fishing and canoeing in the nearby river. Be sure to also check out Chippewa Falls and the Edmund Fitzgerald lookout. Choose from 5 different sites that are very private. There is plenty of natural tree canopy and you will have nature all around. Just across the property, you will find Lake Superior with the best beach around. Please note that quiet time is from 11 pm to 8 am. Please no loud music or generators, no cutting down trees or bush. Pets are welcome (please keep them on a leash and pick up after them) Campfires are permitted. Newly constructed outhouses! Electric vehicles are not to permitted to be charged on premises and if caught doing so will be charged an additional $50 fee

Conviently located right off Hwy 17 North between Goulais Bay and Batchewana bay. Although we are not located on the water we are steps from Chippewa falls, minutes to Harmony beach, Batchewana bay. Do you like to fish? A quick ride up the road mile 38 has some of the best fishing around. Travelling with a boat/kayak paddle board, ATV, cycles etc…. We have secure sea can storage for you to utilize when not on site. If hiking is your thing lots of trails nearby. Trailer has fridge, microwave, fire pit with grate for cooking if desired, no bathroom usage but outhouse on-site. Solar panels are hooked up but generator can also be provided if you choose. Fire pit and wood on site. If you love to have all of this plus total privacy as you have no neighbours on this 3 acre parcel. Lots of room for volleyball, cornhole, adventure hiking. We look forward to providing you a memorable stay at a great value.

About

The Sault Ste. Marie Canal, built in 1895, was the world’s longest lock, the first to operate using electricity and the last link in an all-Canadian navigational chain from the Atlantic to Lake Superior. Today the Canal, used by recreational craft, is a great spot for boat-watching and picnics - but you can do more than watch! Let a Parks Canada interpreter/guide introduce you to the Canal’s fascinating history.

When to go

The ideal time to visit the Sault Ste. Marie Canal National Historic Site is between May 15 and October 15, aligning with the lock navigation season. This period offers the full experience of the site's activities and interpretive programs. Outside of these months, the visitor centre welcomes guests from June to October, providing a chance to learn about the site's history and significance.

Know before you go

  • Locking through the canal is a must-try experience, available from May 15 to October 15.
