This beautiful spot was re-forested with pine a number of years ago, and was sectioned off from the surrounding farmland, which is now maintained by the mennonite community. It is 8 1/2 acres of wetland and forest, with a mown perimeter, and cool places to tuck into the forest for the night. The current owner was a special educator, and now is slowly turning the land into her homestead. There is a beautiful, spa quality outdoor shower next to a tidy and 'fancier than most' outhouse, a strawberry patch as well as wild alpine strawberries all over the property, a big dog and a small indoor cat keep her company. Here is what the land offers: -Bunkie in the Forest: A sweet 8x8 ft. space with new bunk and mattresses as of April 2023 -Strawberry Fields bunkie: an 10x12 space with a loft with a queen memory foam mattress and a main floor with a full futon and a small table -Campsites: Meadow, Forest and River spots. Close to each other, but you'd never know it! All three are chill and serene places. The property backs onto a ten-foot swimming hole in an otherwise shallow part of the Saugeen River. -RV Spot: With electric hook up ideal for RVs 30 feet and under -a connection to the organization, 'Black Folks Camp Too'! It was 1984 when John found his ‘diamond in the rough’, 20 acres with an orchard on the outskirts of Brantford. O.K., so the house was nothing to write home about but perfect for building a construction yard…no neighbors except for the family across the road that used their property to build log homes. By 1987 the old house was gone, a new one was being built and a shop for working on heavy equipment had been located about 200 ft. from Dr. the back door. It wasn’t until 1996 that things changed very much. Yes, the property around the house had benefitted from a wide array of trees and shrubs that John saved from the construction/demolition jobs he had done and that still thrive today but no big projects (except for equipment purchases) were ongoing. A chance meeting with the neighbor across the road one day resulted in the following dinner conversation, ‘How was your day’ I chirped. ‘Not bad, so-and-so didn’t come in; the truck broke down and I took it for repair; I bought the property across the road, and oh, yeah I’ll need a ride after dinner to pick up the truck’ was John’s casual reply. ‘What was that’? I pressed. ‘Yes, I need a ride after dinner to pick up the truck’ he repeated with a bit more volume. Of course like anyone, I had questions, ‘Do you want peas or corn with dinner’? ‘What time do you want to go to get the truck’? ‘The property across the road’, 10 acres, still has the 4 storey barn with its twin tiled silos which was built in 1914 and the big white house with wrap around porch that once was home to a Doctor and his family. Built so the Doctor could see his patients in the front with the family living in the back was very common in the day. Things remained relatively peaceful until 2000 when after studying alpacas for more than 6 years I bought our first three. Back in 2000 alpacas and llamas were not frequently seen on farms and because they could been seen from the road they received A LOT of attention. People driving by would stop and ask about them, ask if they could take a picture or two and that was when I would hear over and over again ‘You have a beautiful place here, I wish I/we could stay’. Well, if you want to visit and stay in the city it’s doable, we call it a hotel. But visiting a farm and staying well, that isn’t so easy. Each year we would see more and more families coming to ‘The Farm’ as they would call it. Some came to see the alpacas and horses, some came for a stroll and to check out the horse drawn milk and bread delivery wagons, some to have family birthday parties, others to have engagement/wedding/Christmas card pictures…and so many asked if there was any way they could spend a day or two. In 2021 during a conversation with a friend I mentioned we were in the process of gutting the 1100 sq. ft. space downstairs and turning it into an Airbnb! Right away she said, ‘I don’t know why you don’t have a Hipcamp? You’ve got that great area by the new barn that Hipcampers would love’! After a little investigation I found out what a Hipcamp was and the rest is history.

Outside, you'll find a covered kitchen and dining area and a large open firepit for long evenings beneath the stars. Raven Hollow is intentionally rustic. This isn't a resort tucked into the woods... the woods are the experience. Expect wildlife, changing weather, dirt beneath your boots, dark skies, crackling fires and all the little sounds that come with sleeping in a forest. And while the Hollow can feel wonderfully far away from everything, you aren't. Chesley is about 10 minutes away and Hanover about 20, with hiking, waterfalls, beaches, swimming, fishing, small towns and plenty more to explore throughout the surrounding area. There are also lots of backroads and opportunities for ATV and side-by-side adventures nearby. Dogs are very welcome, but must remain leashed at all times while exploring Raven Hollow. Come wander awhile. The Hollow is waiting.

Heavens Acres has been a stop over since the 1850's for people travelling by horse from Toronto to Owen Sound. We have 100 acres surrounded by another 200 acres of conservation land. There is camping in the pine forest as well at the very back of the property where you will find a hardwood bush with trails. Please note that the hipcamp map shows a large body of water on the property, as does google driving maps. It is a marsh, not a lake. Google Earth shows it better. There is however, a creek and pond, but don't bring your boat. :) This is a "LEAVE NO TRACE" campsite, so please take all garbage when you leave. There is no water or power, but there is an outhouse Your furry friends are allowed for free but if you have extra people please pay for them. You can adjust your booking if there are more people than originally requested. This covers costs like insurance and private property access, property taxes and the huge initial investment. Please note that in the winter months. There’s a $25 surcharge. This is required for snow removal to access the sites that are at at least 1 km into the bush. We are in a snow belt area and it is very difficult to keep the sites open in the winter. Four-wheel-drive is required for access in the winter!

Weekend Trip to The Farm

We had a wonderful stay! The sunrise site is very private and spacious, with a beautiful view overlooking a huge open grass field. It’s such a peaceful spot to relax and enjoy nature. Karen was super friendly and welcoming! She gave us an informative tour of the property, let us interact with the animals, and shared some great recommendations for local places to visit. One thing worth mentioning for anyone particular about washrooms: the toilet is a portable flushing toilet. It was well-maintained and clean, so we had no issues with it. Overall, a lovely camping experience. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend The Farm!

Weekend Trip to River Rock Eco-Camp

Amber and Dan were both incredibly nice, kind, and welcoming! The place was beautiful and close to the water. They had thought of every little detail to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. They were also very responsive and easy to communicate with. I’ve been to many campsites, and I can confidently say this has been the best one so far! We had an amazing night camping here and will definitely be back. Highly recommended!

Weekend Trip to Boho Bungalow in Port Dover

Our stay at Beth’s Boho Bungalow in Port Dover was an absolute blessing and a gift. It was magical beyond words, and it was exactly the peaceful, healing escape that my wife needed. The property itself is a perfect paradise. We spent our time relaxing in the amazing hot tub, sitting by the cozy fire pit, and walking down to her beautiful, serene ravine. At night, the sky opened up to the most incredible view of the stars. Sitting outside, listening to the wind blowing through the trees and all the beautiful noises of nature, was deeply therapeutic. On top of the beautiful privacy, the location is perfect—it is a scenic, easy walk straight to the Port Dover pier, the beach, and all the local amenities. I am a firm believer that angels walk this earth, and Beth is wholeheartedly one of them. She is genuinely one of the kindest, most gentle human beings we have ever dealt with. To make things even better, Beth's neighbor, Kat, and her husband were also just amazing, beautiful human beings. It was truly an absolute pleasure to meet them as well. Even though we are local to the area, this felt like a completely different world. We had such a wonderful experience that we will definitely be going back. If you are looking for a deeply romantic and relaxing getaway hosted by extraordinary souls, please book this beautiful spot!

We had such a wonderful stay! The site was lovely and peaceful, and our little one had the absolute best time — it was his first camping trip and it couldn't have gone better. Jessica was so accommodating and even provided heated blankets, which made the chilly night extra cozy. We would love to come back!

This is a great spot for overnight camping while cycling the G2G trail. The reservation system was easy. The amenities are great (hot shower, snacks to purchase). The bunkie was perfect for a rainy overnight.

We stayed in the wee Boler and despite its size, it was perfectly comfortable for our nights. Otherwise during the day everyone was friendly and there were always dogs & goats to visit. Denise & Chris were lovely, helpful hosts. Would recommend everyone pay a visit!

Very clean and spacious property with a gorgeous view. Hide in the fringe if your pasty skinned like I am, hardly a patch of the sunlight touches the forest floor. The site comes with a large firepit with room for my grill plus a seperate fire to produce coals.

We had a great time at Ziggy’s Land! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived—the staff and fellow campers couldn't have been friendlier. The lots were well-maintained and decently clean, with enough space between sites so you don't feel right on top of your neighbors. Most importantly, the kids had an absolute blast with plenty of room to play and explore. It’s a wonderful, family-friendly spot, and we would definitely come back again!
