Raven's Point 2, Tryfan Forest
From the past reviews I can clearly see that previous host went back and forth to make his camper’s stay wonderful. Not the current owner. I’d predict their reply about changing management during our stay, so this is why they didn’t communicate with us, but on the very beginning I had a chat with a new manager, so it was clearly settled up before our stay.
Reviews are the only thing host responds to. You will never get answers to your questions or get help or even GET EXTRAS that you PAID FOR.
BRING YOUR OWN FIREWOOD! Host will never arrange you one!
Way from parking to site took us 1,5 hours first time. There are A LOT OF horseflies and mosquitoes. Those horseflies won’t let you go out without hundreds bites and they will be whirling around you your entire path.
Boats and kayaks are not available, so don’t even hope to find them or move your stuff with it.
It’s clearly seen that no one is checking camping sites and what’s going on in forest overall. They call it “remote super wild experience” but I’d call it “take your trash and trash of past camper because we are not willing to even check”.
Please do not try to put everything on management changing, this is not what it’s about. It’s just money for doing nothing. Sorry to see that the 4.9 rating past host made is falling down because of management that doesn’t want to do anything. Spot itself is beautiful, but it doesn’t worth it.

Site 3 was wonderful. In my opinion, the best site. We camped with 1 child and 2 dogs for 5 days. I highly recommend using a canoe to bring your items to site. The trail is very buggy and if you require a lot of gear, use the canoe and tow your boats. Thankfully, our host found us at the beginning of the trail and told us to canoe instead.
The entry instructions aren't super clear. We did find p1 parking, but at the end of our trip, a local left us a note that they would call the cops if we didn't remove our vehicle. I'm unsure the disconnect between the boating access and parking vs locals..
The rest of the trip was incredible. We got firewood and never ran out. We packed everything needed. We used a water filter to refuel our water supply. (5 day stay)
We saw otters, beavers, herons, frogs, tadpoles, snakes, Turtles, many songbirds. The wildlife is amazing.
Swimming is great off the small island. Even off of the dock site 3.
There are motor boats and you can hear the locals in the area. They are polite to the kayakers and respectful of wakes and waves.
Swam out to the buoy in the middle of the lake, and ended up standing on a tall rock. Pretty awesome.
Fishing is ok. Caught mant perch, 1 tiny musky.
You WILL need lots of bug spray. The bugs didn't let up even with smokey fires (end of june)
Site 3 has a bit of a slope if you prefer near the water (we did)
Having a shared privy was a new experience lol. A bit vulnerable but hey- screw it.

My son and I thoroughly enjoyed the site. Very Private, not hard to find, good water access for a canoe (didn't even get my feet wet), a 10ft picnic table, a firepit, and on a nice lake. Thunder box is ok, but may need a upgrade, but it is about 15 metres from the campsite, and not visible from the road. Brent was good at returning messages too. We definately will come back

We really liked the site and found it to be exactly as described. Unfortunately, communication from the host was lacking. We reached out several times regarding the location of the canoes and the firewood we had purchased—first a few days before our stay, then the night before, the day of arrival, and by phone—but never received a response.
As a result, we never found the canoes and did not receive the firewood we paid for. We hiked in, which took about 23 minutes each way, and ended up making two trips. We didn’t mind the extra exercise, but had we known the situation, we would have packed differently.
I’ve also followed up regarding a refund for the unused firewood and still have not received a response.
The site itself was great, and I would recommend it based on the location and experience. However, responsive communication is important, especially when guests have questions about amenities they’ve paid for. I would consider booking again, but only if this issue is addressed and communication improves.

beautiful spot. disappointed i payed for wood and did not receive? no response from host other than automated message with instructions, directions, etc.

again, gorgeous spot, just not sure it’s worth the $ per night

The host never responded to texts or phone. No direction signs, just for sale signs all over property. Site was nice enough but driving a jeep and small trailer down a rough road with no host directing in unknown area is not a great experience.

Campsite entrance was sketchy, cars bottoming out and thunderbox was visible from the road. Stumps across the campsite and no clearance to the waterfront. Unless you live locally I would not travel far to visit this campsite. Essentially a small clearance in a forest that you could find anywhere across Ontario. Only positive note is it was tranquil and secluded.

It was a bit difficult to locate the campsite due to snow banks obstructing the view from the road. However once found the campsite was good, obviously not clear of snow but this is winter camping so no complains. I would reccomend.

Hemlock Grove
We stayed at the Hemlock Grove site with 7 people, 3 cars and had plenty of room! We had 2 hammocks and 3 tents, this site is great for hammocking. Brent was very accommodating and provided all the information we needed. Unfortunately we got hit with some bad weather, but I would recommend Tryfan Forest to anyone looking to enjoy a quiet weekend on a beautiful piece of land.

First time here and the host was very welcoming. We picked a spot close to the water but there was no car access to the site so we had to change it at the last minute. The host was very accommodating and made the changes without any issue. We like the site we chose and would come back again.

Bret was a fantastic host! Very easy to communicate with and flexible. The campsite is perfect if you’re looking to spend quality time immersed in nature, away from crowds. Thank you for the complimentary canoes, kayaks, and lake access. I wish we had caught more fish, but overall it was an amazing experience!

Raven's Point 1, Tryfan Forest
The experience was not good overall, first our spot (point 1) was occupied by a guest that booked point 2 spot and didn't had any intention to move saying that you gave her approval to stay since it wasn't booked. We didn't get any dolly carts available and had to carry everything in two trips back and forth to the parking. It needs to be made clear about the trail length, at some point we thought we were lost.

loved every moment being there. the trail to the campsite was very well maintained and once we got to the campsite the view was so beautiful. very large picnic table on site 1 which came in handy! spent most of our time on the dock and in the lake swimming:) will 100% be back!

Such a private area ! Perfect for camping! Right on water.
The only thing I would have changed was bringing a fold up picnic table !
The table available there was small, and the top wasn't secured to the legs, so we had to balance the top out with heavy things so it didn't tip ! So bring a fold up table with you when you go !
But other than that it was great !! We LOVED how big our area was. No complaints !! We brought our 1 year old with us and he loved it.

Raven’s Point was a fantastic choice for our first Hipcamp booking! Very relaxing, great hiking, and easy to get to by canoe which was necessary for my partner! The lake was busier than expected with lots of boats and cottages around, but we had a really chilled time and the campsite still feels private. Interesting small wildlife around the campsite, including an inquisitive and friendly little turtle. Our dog loved every minute.
Five stars; we had a great time. Ravens Point 1 is a lovely spot.

The tent camping was great! We had a good spot to pitch our tent and put up a tarp. The site was quite spacious and included many extras including rope, kayaks, hammock and other little handy items to use for cooking. We canoed to the site and we got to it fairly quickly. It would’ve been beneficial to have some landmark or sign to let us know of the site. We also hiked the trail and it was well labelled coming from the parking to the site but not the other way around. Nevertheless our camping trip was amazing with beautiful views and a great dock to fish from. Would definitely come back again! Brent was great to respond to messages and questions.

The site had not been cleaned. There was garbage from the previous campers in several places.
The thunder box was full. We actually had to tamp it down to be able to use it. The food box was full of garbage.
After two texts to the owner, he finally showed up at 8:30 at night. By that time we had made alternate arrangements for our food and suggested that he go home and do it in the morning since it was so late. He got upset at that and left. We never saw him again.

Beautiful spot once you get to the camp site! Definitely canoe in over hiking it…the hike was not easy with the cart provided. The path to the canoes is to the right when you get to the parking lot and the hiking path is to the left. There definitely needs to be more signs and instruction on how to get to the site. We got lost a couple of times and the only way to identify the campsite is a tiny number on a tree that is not easy to see! Our toilet was completely full when we got there and I messaged Brent about it but unfortunately it was never dealt with. Communication with Brent was not great. The dock was beautiful and the water was peaceful. This place has so much potential, just needs a little more signage and instruction from the host!

My family of seniors camped at ravens point 1. Very nice campsite. All three sites are very nice. Site 2 and 3 share a thunderbox which could make for some uncomfortable moments. Brent met us at arrival and mentioned that he needed to go clean the thunderbox and a food box that was filled with garbage. We waiting all day for this to happen and at 9:00pm we decided he was not coming so we put our food away and were preparing for bed when Brent showed up. My sister thought that he didn’t need to do it in the dark and suggested he do it tomorrow instead. Brent immediately turned around and stormed off. Left the box disgusting and left a pile of garbage all week. Likely still there. Other things to know is the lake is very shallow and not very good for swimming. Weedy and very silty. Way over priced. Stay at a provincial park instead.

Hemlock grove site has not been prepared for campers properly. The combustable material around the fire pit caught fire as soon as we got one going. Need to move it from the fire pit area. We were lucky to catch it. The grounds also need work. Lots of left over tree shoots. Brush saw the area so tripping hazards are gone. Toilet is right next to the road and is easily viewed. Maybe a screen of some type. No water access. Overall a very disappointing campsite. Zero stars for this one. Rain was forecasted so we left. No reason to stay.
