The Witches Garden at Mitta Mitta

We camped at Callaghans Creek for a few nights after Christmas. It was the perfect spot for a big group with little kids- enclosed ish space, shallow Creek for splashing in, remote feeling but close drive to Mitta and Dartmouth. Grateful to the hosts for having us at such a special place. Toilet is required- as we were a big group we got a portaloo delivered through EBA hire in Albury, and that worked well. Note that some of the photos are of the mitta River- this site is not on the river, and we weren't aware there was river access at the property- but we did find some nice Mitta swimming spots along the Rd to Dartmouth. Lunch at the mitta brewery was lovely, and a swim at the snowy Creek in Mitta also very nice!

We loved our stay in the Mitta Valley, we were fortunate to park our van in the witches garden, it was so magical with the river flowing by and surrounded by lovely trees and the garden.

Slice of paradise

A beautiful slice of paradise for the self-sufficient. The sound of the bubbling creek and the open area surrounded with trees that offer brilliant shade. A small drive from the town if you need it and otherwise you are left to enjoy the bush! Definitely put this one on your go to list.

This camping spot is just perfect. Located on a working farm in a beautiful part of Vic. Not far from Mitta Mitta itself but nicely private and peaceful on Callaghan Creek. We stayed here over Easter with our 2 dogs and loved every minute. Great base to explore the area, plenty of tracks nearby or if you are just wanting a quiet camping spot to chill out this is the spot. Sunsets from the top of the hill were a highlight. Felicity was so easy to deal with and showed us to our site on arrival. 100% coming back here.

We had a very relaxing stay on the creek at the Witches Garden. It was a private, green and shady oasis with a gorgeous bubbling creek, deep enough for a dip. Felicity and Lew were terrific hosts and gave us great tips on day trips and things to do. We enjoyed 4WD tracks, wood fired pizza at the Brewery just up the road, and many hours resting and listening the the creek. We loved that the hosts only allow one group to enjoy the serenity even though it’s a large area. Thank you!

A beautiful location, alongside the river with abundant birdlife, a fireplace and plenty of shade on the grassy bank. The hosts are super friendly and we really enjoyed our time with them. Gorgeous gardens around the property to wander through too

2nd time we've camped here... and there's the clue(!). Terrific hosts, available yet discreet. Stunning gardens with lots of shade; very spacious generous camping area; crystal clear river to play in; fishing plentiful; great trecking; 5-10 min drive into the town for dinner at the pub (on the river), or great food at the Brewery. We are in love with this place.

What a find. A lovely private campsite perfect for a small group with a good mixture of sun and shade along the banks of Callaghan creek. A 2 minute drive or a short walk to the Witches Gardens and close to Mitta Mitta. Felicity was a great host and very accommodating.

Slice of paradise all to ourselves

We brought our group to camp at this private camp area over the Easter long weekend. Such a beautiful place in the heart of the Mitta region. Felicity welcomed us on arrival and guided us to the spot (not to mention answering all of my annoying questions in the lead up). She was there to help if we needed it but left us to our privacy to enjoy the space. Great swimming over at the gardens (not to mention exploring the gardens themselves). Awesome dinner at the Mitta Pub (book ahead) and some great exploring of the surrounding areas. We will definitely be back.

Stunning Riverside setting, Great H

The PERFECT setting, so incredibly picturesque... a real feast for the eyes. An abundance of varied bird life to enjoy, generous camp site, easy river access for cooling down, kayaking, never ending walking/hiking tracks, fun fishing with heaps of options. Host Felicity (& Lou) couldn't do enough to accommodate us during our one week stay. Highly recommend! P.S.(Mitta Mitta pub was terrific too!)

Really enjoyed staying at the witches garden! The site was clean and well taken care of, a stones throw to the beautiful Mitta Mitta River. The stars were amazing at night, and the gardens incredible! Would definitely recommend!

I booked Felicity and Lew's campsite for myself and 14 friends over the NYE period. This was our first time using Hipcamp and we had an amazing stay and everything worked out smoothly. The site is well shaded, easily accessible off the main road, close to Mitta Mitta and all it has to offer, and the creek running through the site was lovely to have access to and be able to cool down in. Mitta Mitta (and surrounds) has some amazing outdoor activities, and venues/shops and Felicity and Lew's site is the perfect home base to access everything with ease. Well worth the stay and we will definitely be back again!

Great stay at the Witches Garden

Great property with beautiful gardens (not where the camps are), easy acess to a wide, clear part of the Mitta Mitta. Can canoe into Mitta Mitta but can take 3 hours or more depending on river hight. Lots of flies (naturally with farming land all around) so dont forget fly spray.

Serene oasis of beauty

The most beautiful and serene campsite we have ever been to. Absolute golden gem. The gardens are spectacular and the array of different flowers immense. This was the peaceful beautiful oasis we envisaged from the photos. Host were lovely, fresh eggs and so kind. The gardens are truly a labour of love and a must to visit. We will be back. Best holoday ever

Safe and serene on very well kept site. Stones throw from the river with lovely trees available for shade on a nice flat tent area. Two very gorgeous dogs (wish we knew their names!) welcomed our two dogs. Would definately camp again. Thankyou Felicity.

Great campsite, host was amazing. Site was level, clear and with a direct view and access to the river. Will definitely revisit. Easy to setup, nice and private. Amazing garden on the property as well which was well worth the time to explore and enjoy as well!
