Camp was quiet and peaceful, so easy to relax. Firewood was a great addition, made camp fire cooking the best option. We’ll be back.

Stunning serenity - easy access

Gob-smackingly beautiful and peaceful property. We stayed on Stonor's 'upper level', which has oodles of flat, open space. Grass was short and everything well maintained. Only a short 100-metre walk to the closest toilet. Big wood pile for all to enjoy next to the Heyfield site. Had a good chat to the gorgeous and inquisitive Highland cows in the adjacent paddock. What's not to love? (Stonor also has a decent-sized lower level with a firepit, but not suitable for my large front-wheel-drive motorhome.) HIGHLY recommend.

Beginner Campers Dream Spot

After being swamped out at our original planned spot I went on a last minute search for an easy camp spot for myself and two young kids. Although it was a bit further from Melbourne than I had wanted (3.5 hours with a stop), I’m so glad we chose this spot. It was easy to find, I used Apple Maps and then on arrival a site map on the gate as well as cute signs on each camp spot. I counted 6 spots in total. We booked Sunbury because another review said it was more private from the other spots (which was true) but when we got there we had the whole place to ourselves anyway (last weekend of the Sept school holidays) so we asked if we could switch to Gembrook because it was slightly closer to the toilets for the kids. We had the perfect weather for the weekend. Clear warm days and clear sky night. The position for camping is great with full sun all morning and shade in the afternoon. There was no water in the creek unfortunately but the kids enjoyed exploring it anyway. So many different native birds visited and the cows were adorable. There is an unsealed road opposite the campsite which didn’t bother us but might for others. Wood being provided was a massive bonus for us as we only have a small car which barely fit what we brought to camp with. If coming with kids definitely bring a ball as there is large grassy space to kick around on. There was also plenty to do in the area with Glenrowan nearby we learnt a lot about Ned Kelly and also a market. 10/10 would go again!

Peace and Quite

What a beautiful spot to camp for the week. It was so quite and peaceful. We sat around the fire with free firewood and enjoyed the views and the stars. The cows were cute, the donkey was hilarious, bird life was great and we even saw an echidna. We also had out dog with us and she loved the open space. great spots nearby, Wineries and Breweries down every street, Must visits Last street Brewery for the cordial tasting. such great fun, we will be back again soon.

We loved our stay Ellimatta. Even though it was a long weekend, there was plenty of space between camps, toilet was clean and we had plenty of firewood available. The highland cows was an added bonus.

A good site for a beginner. Just enough out of the way, well maintained, with the valley protecting you from wind ect. The supplied wood made things easy and a *fancy* toilet setup meant even our non-camp friends had a good time.

The ellimatta property is beautiful and well looked after. However the owners never visited or bothered to say hello which was odd. It is stated that firewood would be given, but only a small pile of drenched wood was available, no dry wood was delivered. The serenity and peacefulness of the property was great.

We stayed at Ellimatta on the June Kings birthday weekend. It was a wet weekend but we made sure we had a great time. We have stayed previously, however this time we noticed a few things weren’t up to previous standard. We arrived just before dark and there was a lock on the gate. We had not been given the code so we had to message the owner on hipcamp to unlock it. Luckily he didn’t take long, however it would be convenient to have this unlocked prior to arrival. The toilets weren’t clean and the supplied wood was not enough to cover all the sites for the four days. I would also suggest a cover over the wood in winter to keep it dry so a fire can be easily started. Usually we have a visit from the owner to say hello and check everything is in order but not this time.

Although we had quite possibly the worst weather imaginable! We still had an amazing time. Very peaceful surroundings, with just enough privacy. Super clean toilets and lots of pre packed wood made lighting a fire super easy.

Great spot to explore the King Valley and the high country. Well run campsite with regular servicing of toilets and firewood supply. We were there on a long weekend. All the campsites were full, but they are nicely spaced.

Great location and site. If you want privacy - book the Sunbury, the other sites are all very close to each other. The toilets were great, and wood was provided to my site by magic! The fireplace was large and deep. Didn't get to see any highland cows unfortunately. Just be ok with driving on unpaved roads for a few KM to get in there. Thanks, I'll book again.

We had a great time, cokking on the woodfire and waking hearing the birds. The sites were at a good distance from one another and there was a lot of area for the kids to play. Firewood was supplied and topped up everyday. Multiple toilets on site, nice clean with portable Thetford toilets. Kings river is close by for people who enjoy fishing. You need to bring your own water, Moyhu has water tap where you can go for refills, nice cafe, a small park for kids and portable toilet dump point. Lots of wineries in the area and lots of places to explore. Will visit again, great experience.

Ellimatta is a beautiful quiet Hipcamp with basic facilities that are well tended ie porta loo cleaned daily. The views are exquisite, especially at full moon. Spaces between sites allows for a much appreciated level of privacy.

Great spot! Loved our stay. Very peaceful with lots of room for kids to play. Great campfire with wood provided. Off the beaten track but only a short drive to lunch spots and wineries.

Serenity in the Vic high country

We thought we had hit the jackpot for the weekend at Heyfield at Ellimatta. It was rural, serene, and relaxing. Good directions to the location, great communication with Lisa, and a superb area in the Victorian high country! We will most certainly be back and we will plan to stay for at least a week to explore the beautiful region. Thank you, Lisa, for making available your farm for our stay.
