Each site offers something a little different whether it is a spacious site for a large group or party or a smaller site for a family weekend away. Our site is accessible for all vehicle types and is dog-friendly as long as pets are well-controlled. Campfires are allowed when restrictions aren’t in place, and firewood and kindling is available for purchase (see Extras). Please keep in mind that the property is a working farm and there will be cars and machinery onsite nearby to some of the sites. Each powered site has only 1 power supply. We are conveniently located just off the M1, only a 90-minute drive from Melbourne CDB. We offer the perfect place to escape from the rat race to recharge your batteries. Choose any spot to set up camp, but our favourite is next to the beautiful lake-like dam. Guests are required to be self-sufficient with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. It's only 2km to Trafalgar town centre and 5 KM to Moe. 91 Gordons Bridge Road was once part of a pine plantation that had been planted in the late 60's and harvested just prior to the Black Saturday fires. Across the road from the Kinglake National Park, it is surrounded by protected flora and fauna. Victoria's Pink heath, wattles and tea tree provide a pleasant backdrop in season. It is not an uncommon site to see an echidna or two on the property, with black wallabies, kangaroos and wombats often seen grazing on pasture in the evening. The mud turrets are the home of endangered land yabbies and Lyrebirds have been seen in the area. Feral deer have come to inhabit nearby properties and sometimes wonder down the track. Birds watchers will enjoy a variety of bird life that inhabit the area including eagle hawks, fairy wrens, kookaburras, rosellas, parrots and yellow tailed black cockatoos when in season. The area is a popular spot for hikers with the start of the Mountain Creek trail only a few kms down Gordons Bridge Road and serious cyclists train regularly, on Mount Slide, especially on the weekend. For the serious wine lover the property is within 15km of the Yarra Valley Wine Growing area with many wineries offering tastings.

With loads of open space and flat ground. Far End: As the name suggests, Far End sits right at the very end of our property and offers the utmost peace and privacy. This flat, shaded campsite is just 10–20 metres from the river and surrounded by trees, making it a favourite among returning guests. Nearby attractions: -Lake Buffalo for watersports and fishing -Bright and Myrtleford for bike trails, cafes and markets -Mount Buffalo and Mt Hotham for hiking or snow trips -The famous King Valley Wine Region Whether stargazing by the fire, fishing at dawn, or exploring the High Country, Buffalo River Retreat offers space, serenity, and a welcoming atmosphere for an unforgettable stay. Notes: Campfires are welcome in designated firepits (which you can safely move to suit your camp). FIREWOOD: 1 X $25 bundle = 1 wheelbarrow full. There are a variety of beautiful campsites suitable for self-contained guests who have their own toilet/shower facilities and drinking water. Rainfall can restrict access to some sites on the property. The city of Bendigo is 25mins drive. Epsom is a 15min drive where you will find a shopping centre which includes a petrol station, Woollies, Pizza, Chemist Warehouse, Aldi, Brumbys Bakery, Reject Shop, Fish and Chips and BWS. Lake Eppalock is a 25min drive where you can engage in water sport activities. The Campaspe River is 10mins away. The farm is very quiet and restful with the sounds of abundant native bird life and provides great subjects and scenery for the photographic enthusiast. Loud, party groups with music at high volume are not permitted. Chainsaws and motorbikes are also not permitted.

The Whip Stick Forest campsite is located on the outskirts of Bendigo. This is an ideal place to take a break away from it all. Peace and tranquility surrounded by nature. We are just far enough away from the town to offer the outdoors feel and close enough to town to enjoy sightseeing, and many outdoor activities and access to shops, fuel and most of the usual shopping needs. Here you will find a nice open space amongst the gum trees with drinking water, toilet, and outdoor shower. rubbish/recycling bins and access to wifi if needed. Relax under the stars with a warm fire in a secluded spot in the middle of open space and the fresh air. The property is fenced off, so you can feel safe and secure. You can relax and let the kids can run around knowing they are safe inside the camp ground. There are five dogs who live here. They are all friendly and love people. Especially Daz who will be your best friend while you stay here. If you don't like dogs you probably shouldn't stay here as Daz loves people. Only minutes from town where you will find supplies, close to the local swimming pool and 10 minutes from a popular watering hole. Enjoy all that Bendigo and surrounding areas have to offer, check out the historic gold mining attractions and come home to rest in a tranquil setting amongst the trees, the birds and the stars. Bendigo itself features some fantastic heritage architecture and a creative community. This place is an absolute gem! From Ginnie, to the camp site, to the honey they sell, everything is fantastic. The campsite is isolated but only a couple hundred metres from the toilets and showers. The amenities block is perfect with drinks/food to buy at great prices and the water is steaming hot in the showers. Ginnie was so lovely and friendly! We will 100% be back!

My partner and I only stayed one night in our swag but had such a lovely time. It was great meeting the family and all the critters that call this island in the trees home. The property is easy to find and is in a great location to explore the surrounds. The two large sites spaced amongst the flowers were tidy and easy to access. Large fire pits great for a group to camp around in the cooler months. The proteas were out in all their glory and the ones we chose to take home made it all the way back to QLD and are still looking stunning weeks later! We had a relaxing 5 nights camping at Coopers Corner (fruit trees). This was our second trip here and will be coming back again. It’s quiet and peaceful here, loved the sound of the river and the birdsongs. All the camping sites are well kept with fire pits and most of them have river access. There are also hiking trials in the hill opposite the farm which was handy.

The campsites are scattered across lovely gently rolling fields and all have a fire pit and a view (either down the valley or across the dam). We had Site 2 looking over the dam which was great and must be stunning in summer and if the dam is full. Access is easy and well sign posted.
