Most sites offer toilets and allow pets and campfires—bring your fishing rod or binoculars, as you’ll spot plenty of wildlife. Swim in creeks, hike rocky trails, or just watch the sun drop behind the range. Victorian mountain camping is direct, unfussy, and full of the details that make a trip memorable.

Discover the inviting charm of Glenmaye Farm—a family-run haven nestled in the foothills of the Strathbogie Ranges. Set alongside the headwaters of Faithfulls Creek, the property features picturesque rocky outcrops, steep gullies, and stunning waterfalls cascading over ancient rock formations, promising a unique and serene escape. Experience the untamed beauty of the landscape where every corner and rise unveils a new wonder. Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views from the summits and unwind at serene creekside spots, perfect for a leisurely afternoon under the sun. Encounter an abundance of native wildlife—from majestic eagles to charming echidnas—that will captivate your senses. For those seeking a truly immersive nature experience, Glenmaye Farm offers an escape like no other. Here, you can discover stunning scenery and enjoy the solitude of a place that feels entirely your own—far removed from the ordinary caravan park atmosphere. Conveniently located just 15 km off the Hume Freeway near Euroa and only two hours north of Melbourne, our farm provides an easily accessible retreat where nature takes center stage. When we acquired Glenmaye Farm in the early 2000s, it mirrored many properties in the region—overused, overtaken by weeds, and managed with conventional practices that overlooked the delicate balance of this unique landscape. Determined to restore its natural beauty, we transitioned from sheep to cattle farming and embraced regenerative agriculture techniques. While our efforts are still evolving, native trees and grasses are steadily making a comeback, and even the persistent weeds are now contributing to soil health, creating a more resilient ecosystem. We offer a variety of camping options, with plans to expand our facilities in the future. Although our current amenities are modest and may not be ideal for young children, improvements are on the horizon. In addition, firewood is available for purchase, and we often have a surplus of fresh produce to share—just ask. We look forward to welcoming you to our little slice of paradise and sharing the beauty of Glenmaye Farm with you soon.

91 Gordons Bridge Road was once part of a pine plantation that had been planted in the late 60's and harvested just prior to the Black Saturday fires. Across the road from the Kinglake National Park, it is surrounded by protected flora and fauna. Victoria's Pink heath, wattles and tea tree provide a pleasant backdrop in season. It is not an uncommon site to see an echidna or two on the property, with black wallabies, kangaroos and wombats often seen grazing on pasture in the evening. The mud turrets are the home of endangered land yabbies and Lyrebirds have been seen in the area. Feral deer have come to inhabit nearby properties and sometimes wonder down the track. Birds watchers will enjoy a variety of bird life that inhabit the area including eagle hawks, fairy wrens, kookaburras, rosellas, parrots and yellow tailed black cockatoos when in season. The area is a popular spot for hikers with the start of the Mountain Creek trail only a few kms down Gordons Bridge Road and serious cyclists train regularly, on Mount Slide, especially on the weekend. For the serious wine lover the property is within 15km of the Yarra Valley Wine Growing area with many wineries offering tastings.

Our property, "Seven Hills Tallarook", sits high above Tallarook with deep valleys and high peaks, just over one hour North of Melbourne's CBD. The property is 600 acres of thick Victorian bush and farmed paddocks. We have a wide range of hobby farm animals - pigs, sheep, alpacas, chickens, ponies, a donkey, along with commercial heard of South African Boer Goats. As night falls, the wildlife come out to play - kangaroos, rabbits, deer and wallabies. Internally, we have in excess of 10 kilometers of roads within the property, the majority being 2WD accessible (weather conditions apply). There are parts of the property which are only 4WD accessible. Our campsites are placed to allow you to be as isolated as possible - away from other campers (you may see others as you drive past, or they drive past you). At some of our bush sites, you will be able to see other campers, but they are not close by. Additionally, we anticipate our Fire Danger Period for the 2025/2026 Summer Season will commence in the coming weeks. We have not toggled the Fire Ban on as we do still allow campfires, however campers MUST adhere to CFA guidelines at all times. On days of Total Fire Ban (TFB), no fires, including gas stoves can be lit outdoors. In event of the TFB toggle needing to be used on Hipcamp, this will advise all guests booked on that day and to all future guests. We will toggle it off once the TFB is removed. Furthermore, we reserve the right to ask you not to light a fire regardless of TFB status if we feel weather conditions are unsafe, especially the wind element. We cannot plan the weather and the request to not light your campfires will most likely be on the day and we will advise as such. Our interest is with your safety, our neighbors and our property and our family.

Clear Springs is a very special spot, offering sweeping views over rolling hills, and across to the ocean. King Island lighthouse is visible on clear nights, and there are koalas and wallabies in abundance. Whilst we require you to BYO toilet, we do have hot shower, woodfired hot-tub, power, water and phone reception. The site is all-weather access, and is just a 7-minutes drive to the Apollo Bay township. Once you catch your breath after initially taking in the sweeping, majestic ocean views, you can find a spot to pitch your tent or park your van. You drive in through a locked farm gate into the fenced camp area. There is not an abundance of flat area, so may not suit if you need large level space. We don't accept multiple bookings, so the space is all yours. You can choose from a few different spots with near-level ground (choose grass or gravel). The site is open to the amazing ocean views to the south yet the area is nestled among mature trees to give privacy and shelter. There are very few houses dotted around the area and not a single busy road within earshot. There is 240v mains power (BYO lead and plug into switchboard). And a tank with spring water (natural and untreated, we've been drinking it for years) and a pressure pump (BYO hoses as needed). There is an outdoor gas-heated shower. We also have a woodfired hot tub available for guests, BYO firewood. Our listing is intended for people looking for a private, tranquil and well-serviced camping area with several bonuses such as firewood, power, water, telstra reception, and a hot tub. And no other guests to worry about. It's much more than a patch of grass! But please BYO toilet - this is mandatory - and leave no trace to allow other people to enjoy the beauty of our property. Victoria’s mountainous regions pack in the kind of camping that sticks with you—ridges thick with gums, icy rivers, and crisp, star-heavy nights. You’ll find over 800 Hipcamp sites here, all set against peaks, rolling highlands, and steep forest gullies. Prices start at just $12, and the average night costs $45. Head for Riverside King Valley (879 reviews) if you want river access right at your tent flap, or try Iron Brook Donkey Farm (555 reviews) for paddocks and curious donkeys as your neighbours. Hazelnut Valley Farm Stay (503 reviews) has mountain views and farm-fresh eggs in the morning.

The surrounding mountain ranges offer numerous famous 4wd trails or you might like to try your hand at panning for gold. This is a working farm and our animals are our family. They are very friendly but only know us and not you so please do not enter their homes without us, but feel free to talk to them over the gates. Be aware that all fences are electric and are switched on at all times. There is a dedicated communal campfire area for use when fire restrictions permit and we request that no additional fire pits are created during your stay. As this is a working property we are unable to accommodate your pets. For biosecurity reasons there is a strict No Pet policy. We look forward to greeting you upon arrival and showing you to your campsite.
