91 Gordons Bridge Road was once part of a pine plantation that had been planted in the late 60's and harvested just prior to the Black Saturday fires. Across the road from the Kinglake National Park, it is surrounded by protected flora and fauna. Victoria's Pink heath, wattles and tea tree provide a pleasant backdrop in season. It is not an uncommon site to see an echidna or two on the property, with black wallabies, kangaroos and wombats often seen grazing on pasture in the evening. The mud turrets are the home of endangered land yabbies and Lyrebirds have been seen in the area. Feral deer have come to inhabit nearby properties and sometimes wonder down the track. Birds watchers will enjoy a variety of bird life that inhabit the area including eagle hawks, fairy wrens, kookaburras, rosellas, parrots and yellow tailed black cockatoos when in season. The area is a popular spot for hikers with the start of the Mountain Creek trail only a few kms down Gordons Bridge Road and serious cyclists train regularly, on Mount Slide, especially on the weekend. For the serious wine lover the property is within 15km of the Yarra Valley Wine Growing area with many wineries offering tastings.

Find your perfect spot to pitch your tent on the North side of this 3 acre property nestled along the old Coach Highway at the East End of Kinglake looking out on the magnificent gums of the of the Kinglake National Park. Perfect for the bushwalker that likes to explore the Native flora and fauna without the crowds. Just a short 20 minute drive from the Yarra Valley with an abundance of wineries and a Chocolaterie as well as the award winning Alowyn Gardens. Nearby attractions for the day tripper also include Toolangi Rainforest Walk, Masons Fall, High Country Trail Rides at Chum Creek and Healesville Sanctuary. Contained campfires are welcome outside of fire danger periods, relax around yours and enjoy some excellent star gazing. This is a remote site so internet access is not to be expected. Campers visiting the property will need to be self sufficient with their own toilet/shower facilities and take all non compostable waste and rubbish with them on departure. While there are gravel tracks to the campsite, you may need to park and walk to your site if your vehicle is 2WD. Pets are welcome.

Suitable for a larger family group with opportunities for swags or tents to occupy the dam wall. Perfect for the bushwalker that likes to explore the Native flora and fauna without the crowds. The Hideout
We loved staying at this property! Really well maintained and an absolute haven for bird lovers (bring your binoculars!). The Hideout was lovely and private with its own fire pit. Highly recommend for a hands off getaway from the city.

Its a nice get away for families especially when you have kids, many facilities are close to the camping site! I highly recommend if you want some relax time for few days on a low budget.

3 nights winter camping. Had a very relax camping trip in my converted van with my dog. Would have been even nicer if there were dog friendly walks close by but we were in a National Park. Loved the quiet and sounds of bird calls especially the Kookaburras in the mornings. This site will make a good base for hiking in the National Park.

Was a great, affordable place to stay! Really enjoyed how there was a fire pit at each camp site. Camp sites are well spaced a part, and the road next to the site was quiet so wasn’t a worry for us at all. Still felt like we were in nature and would stay again! There seemed to be some cleaning facilities for washing up but we didn’t use them, looks like a work in progress but at that price can’t complain!

We had an awesome time! My wife and I came with some friends, and we all had so much fun. The place was peaceful and just what we needed for a relaxing getaway. Everything was well set up. Would definitely come back again!

Great spot for a few nights. Tent camped during wet weather. Close to town if you need to top up supplies or get phone reception. Felt miles away when at camp. Sites spread out and barely noticed the other campers on the opposite side of the property. Nice to have access to water and power if needed. Lovely listening to the wildlife by the dam.

Good stay and very easy to book and locate! But I warning to anyone with a baby/toddler 0-2 that there is mushrooms everywhere and I spent most of the weekend stopping my baby from going everywhere😅

Lovely peaceful bush retreat neighbouring Kinglake National Park and so close to Melbourne. Site is surrounded by bush but open enough for solar. Beautiful potable rain water available from tap at tank behind a camp kitchen. Maggie as an ex-teacher is a wealth of knowledge of the area, the surrounds and the heritage and was super supportive in helping sort an issue with my van. Really enjoyed my stay here, highly recommend and will be back.

This was our second time staying at Maggie’s land and it was just as great as the first! The spot is quiet, peaceful, equipped with essentials and perfect for a relaxing getaway close to Melbourne. We really enjoyed the serenity. Maggie is a great host, and we’ll definitely be back again! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a calm and enjoyable stay.

I loved tent camping at Maggie’s, if you want a digital detox this is the place to do it. Sitting beside the fire listening to kookaburras laughing and enjoying camping next to the bush. Watching the stars in the clear sky. Even saw a meteor. Thanks Maggie will be back for a longer stay.

The owners were helpful and it was easy to get to for a weekend from town. It was also very reasonably priced. That said, it wasn’t for us. It was a challenge getting our 20ft caravan in/out, not as peaceful a setting as other options with other campers set up next to us and a bit of a working bee underway when we stayed. There were also lots of items collected on the property which you can’t quite see in the pictures.

If you're looking for a great camping spot not too far from Melbourne, this place is ideal! It feels like you're miles away from everything, offering total peace and privacy. Maggie was super responsive and made our arrival easy, even with the heavy rain over the weekend. The campsite itself is beautiful, with well-maintained fire pits ready to go. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone who’s an equipped camper and looking to unwind in nature. Thanks again, Maggie!

We stays with our Caravan, lovely and quiet! Directions were spot on. Facilities as described. We wanted a weekend away to rest and relax, this stay was perfect. Whittlesea 25 minute drive away, the Pub in Kinglake does an excellent meal. Would highly Recommend!

We loved camping here! It was our dogs first camping trip with us, and it was perfect. A beautiful location, nestled in the trees. The location for the actual tent was quite protected by the elements which was great as we had a few really cold & windy nights. Nice flat ground as well. We had heaps of space and privacy to ourselves despite other campers being on the property - we barely noticed them. The firepit was great and there was heaps of available wood on the property. Despite there being a communal compost toilet on site, we decided to bring our own portable camping toilet for privacy. 0 phone reception for our entire trip being with Optus, but we enjoyed that. Reception was available in the township of Kinglake if we needed it.

If you’re looking to truly disconnect, this spot is a gem. Just a short drive from Melbourne, yet it feels like you’re a world away. There’s almost no phone coverage, no facilities, and no neighbours—which, in my book, makes it absolutely perfect. Don’t come expecting powered sites, showers, or even toilets. This is camping in its purest form. Bring everything you need, leave no trace, and soak in the peace and quiet. If you want to escape the crowds and avoid campsites that feel more like theme parks, this is the place. Just you, nature, and that blissful feeling of being off the grid. The kids love it...
