It’s easy to find a camping spot to suit any interest in a state as large as Queensland. With 7,000 km of Pacific Ocean coastline and a richly diverse interior of everything from ancient rainforests to arid outback landscapes, you'll find plenty of options. Choose from some 1,000 national parks, forests and other protected areas, and a host of other camping sites. From the golden beaches and green hinterland of the Gold Coast in the south to the rugged loneliness of Cape York to the north, and the extraordinary Great Barrier Reef offshore, campers are spoiled for choice.

With the state capital Brisbane as your starting point, head to Queensland’s first National Park, Lamington National Park (established in 1915), for cooler climes and ancient Gondwana rainforests. The south-east’s subtropical climate means lots of sunshine, perfect for any camping trip.Cairns is the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, with island and mainland camping to suit all, with a choice of 19 National Parks. Don flippers and snorkel and hit the water, explore the 165-million-year-old Daintree Rainforest, or head inland to the wonders of Undara Volcanic National Park to camp near ancient lava tubes.Living up to its name, the Sunshine Coast basks in its many natural attractions, from 100km of beaches to forested hinterland. Spot koalas in Noosa National Park, take a kayak up-river to camp in the Noosa Everglades, or head north along the beach in the Great Sandy National Park. The volcanic peaks of the Glass House Mountains National Park offer hikers and climbers a challenge.From Airlie Beach, take off for the green islands of Whitsunday Islands National Park or stick to the coast, exploring Conway National Park, where you may be joined by rock wallabies. Despite its holiday atmosphere, it’s easy to get away from it all. The best islands for hiking and camping are Whitsunday Island and Hook Island.Straddling the Tropic of Capricorn, this somewhat under-rated region has much to offer. Visit in summer for turtle nesting and hatching at Mon Repos Conservation Park, or head offshore to Lady Elliot Island. The main towns are Bundaberg and Gladstone, but it’s worth checking out the coastal villages of Agnes Water and 1770 or heading inland to explore the trails and gorges of the spectacular Carnarvon National Park.

We are conveniently located only 2km from the Cunningham Hwy and are set in a quiet bush location surrounded by the spectacular scenery of the Scenic Rim. We have a range of accommodation including powered and unpowered camp sites, group camp areas, bunk style cabins and a fully self-contained cabin. There is never a shortage of things to do, you can take a canoe or boat out for a cruise on the lake or try your luck at some fishing. Moogerah is well known for its large Bass & Yellow belly. There is a good bushwalk at the property that takes you out to Striker point and into the gorge waterfall with spectacular views along the way. If you have a 4wd you can take a short drive up to Spicers Gap National Park. Here there is a short walk out to the Governors Chair lookout with spectacular views of the Fassifern Valley and beyond. We currently don't have a boat ramp however once you have launched your boat at the public boat ramp we have a nice bay in front of the campground where you can anchor your boat.

Hold it Flats is a 120 acre property that borders the beautiful O'Connell River that has water all year round. Take a walk around the property to check out some of the creatures that have been built out of scrap metal and bush bars that have been built all around the property. There is nice shady trees, green grass and flat camping sites right beside the river with hot showers and flushing toilets. There is plenty of room and some great tracks for the kids and the big kids to ride their push bikes on. The swimming hole is about 2 meters deep and has big shady trees on the edge. There is also enough room for kids to bring their kayaks and have a paddle along the river. We have some hiking tracks up around the hills of our property that have amazing views of the area. All campsites can be provided with their own fire pit. You just pick your spot and we will bring a portable fire pit to you. Fire wood can be purchased at the property. All rubbish must be taken when you, there are no rubbish bins provided.

Due to new council regulations, we can no longer camp directly near the creek edges as we did before. Our campsites have now been relocated to higher ground, offering beautiful views of the creek. The creek entrances are accessible within 50 to 300 meters, depending on the path you choose. Unplug and unwind at our 22 acre camping paradise nestled amongst the rolling green hills of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Listen to the babbling water sounds of Scrubby Creek and the Mary River that meandering through the perimeter of the property for over 1 kilometer. Stroll through our mini rainforest, paddle in the creek or have a dip in one of the many rock pools. We will even let you build as many rock towers as you like! Throw an inner tube in the creek and float around while the kids laugh and play all day long. Let the kids dig holes or fossick for the perfect skimming rocks, ride bikes or play endless games on the beautiful landscaped grass. Plenty of trees to put up that hammock or soak in the creek with views overlooking the wilderness. Sit back and gaze at the starlit skies while the kids roast yet another marshmallow on the campfire. Formally a banana & pineapple plantation, Hunchy Hills is strictly 4WD only access property. There is a toilet and gas hot shower included. If you have a camper trailer it needs to be off-road/high clearance and you need to be experienced in towing off road. No caravans or Hybrids sorry, too steep and tight. Sites 1-3 are large level pads approx. 12M by 12M, each with their own fire pit and log seat. Site 4 is perched on the side of the hill and 6M by 6M in size. Sunrises are spectacular while sunsets by open campfire are also a highlight of the Riverdell experience. Take a short walk up the creek branching west of the Mooloolah River to see some scenic rockpools and waterfalls in the cool of the rainforest canopy. Walking boots/shoes are highly recommended. There is plenty to do and see in the area including exploring nearby Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve, Gardeners Falls, Kondalilla National Park, Australia Zoo, indulge in a tasting at the Barrel at Clouds Vineyard opposite the front gate, stroll through Maleny Botanic Gardens & Bird World or take a short drive to some of Australia’s most beautiful beaches. Due to new council regulations, we can no longer camp directly near the creek edges as we did before. Our campsites have now been relocated to higher ground, offering beautiful views of the creek. The creek entrances are accessible within 50 to 300 meters, depending on the path you choose. Unplug and unwind at our 22 acre camping paradise nestled amongst the rolling green hills of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Listen to the babbling water sounds of Scrubby Creek and the Mary River that meandering through the perimeter of the property for over 1 kilometer. Stroll through our mini rainforest, paddle in the creek or have a dip in one of the many rock pools. We will even let you build as many rock towers as you like! Throw an inner tube in the creek and float around while the kids laugh and play all day long. Let the kids dig holes or fossick for the perfect skimming rocks, ride bikes or play endless games on the beautiful landscaped grass. Plenty of trees to put up that hammock or soak in the creek with views overlooking the wilderness. Sit back and gaze at the starlit skies while the kids roast yet another marshmallow on the campfire. Formally a banana & pineapple plantation, Hunchy Hills is strictly 4WD only access property. There is a toilet and gas hot shower included. If you have a camper trailer it needs to be off-road/high clearance and you need to be experienced in towing off road. No caravans or Hybrids sorry, too steep and tight. Sites 1-3 are large level pads approx. 12M by 12M, each with their own fire pit and log seat. Site 4 is perched on the side of the hill and 6M by 6M in size. Suitable for vehicle based campers/swags/small tents with a sense of adventure and best with max 2 people. We have a backup spot if access is too difficult. Pets (on leash) are welcome, please ensure you pick up after them. Kids (15 and under) are free and are not counted in the maximum number of guests. Firewood is sold at the check-in via an honesty box. $20 per bag (22kgs approx.) Travel down the gravel road for about half 900m and pop out through a tree tunnel to a secluded 2 acre cleared grass paddock where the toilet & sites 1-3 are situated. Site 4 is on top of a small hill separate to the main camping area. Site 5 is in its own cleared paddock, looking out to bush. Site 1 is in shade in winter and partial sun in summer. Site 2 is in shade in the morning and afternoon sun all seasons. Site 3 is in morning sun and shade in the afternoon all seasons. Site 4 is in morning sun and shade in the afternoon all seasons. A seasonal creek runs through the property. We are located 3 minutes from Montville and 7 min to Palmwoods. There's plenty to explore in the area with short drives to the many attractions including National Parks, Glass House Mountains, the famous Rick's Garage Diner, wineries, micro breweries and more. Go fishing at Baroon Pocket Dam and have a swim at Obi Obi Creek or Kondalilla Falls or Gardeners Falls. If you're after some saltwater it's a 30 min drive to most beaches on the coast.

We had a fabulous time in our caravan on a powered site at Hidden Camp. The owner Callan was very friendly & helpful in making sure we had everything we needed. We had no other campers near by, the property is so well set up in the way everyone is far apart. We felt like we were the only family camping. The kids explored everyday, went swimming in the dam, kayaks were a great hit too. We played Lazer Tag at night with other campers and had marshmallows around our own firepit. The highlight for us city people were the free roaming animals, Camels, Donkeys, Horses, Foals, Cows, Ducks, we had a lot of fun petting them and learning all their names. We will definitely return to Hidden Camp and would highly recommend others to book in. Hidden Camp has powered sites, non powered sites and also self contained Tiny Homes. 10 out of 10 for Hidden Camp

We loved our three night stay at Dead Tree Alley. Guy the host and his children were so helpful and it was great to chat while the geese, chickens, Guinea fowl, pigs, roosters, alpacas, goats, cows etc were being fed. We will be back one day soon. We can absolutely recommend this Hipcamp for anyone wanting to relax and reconnect with nature. Only one hour west of the Gold Coast!! 10 out of 10

Magical place with heaps of room on campsites. Good amount of shade/sun shared throughout the day. Looking directly at the tree covered mountain from campsite was an awesome backdrop. Dean was a pleasure to deal with and very friendly and helpful. Kayaks are an added bonus you get when camping here in which you can take down the creek giving you a great peaceful paddle along the base of the mountain. Will be heading back there in the future 100%.

Greatly enjoyed camping at Mountain View at Yabba Creek Farm. Plenty of space, and the very useful shelter structure for extra space and shade… even a spot with a cold “shower” and an outside sink with town water access. The clever side “gate” on the structure also allowed to close it us for some shade in the morning, or to open up for some sure flow. When the fireplace is all hooked up, it will be a great addition in that space in the cooler months. A reasonably short walk to turn well maintained porta-loos, and a still stroll down to the Yabba creek for a swim with the dogs, or a paddle in one of the free-to-use kayaks. A wonderful sized swimming hole, and a really enjoyable place to swim. I did find the Mountain View site could have done with a couple of trees for more shade on hot days, but the added shelter s structure certainly helps with that. This site is located at the end of the property, making it more private, and well spaced out from other sites… particularly good with our dogs. Loved our stay! Hope to come back again.

The space was huge, lots of spaces to choose camp set up, lots of animals around which made it a unique experience. Toilet was great considering it was a port-a loo, very clean.

Kaylea and Dean’s property is amazing. So thoughtfully set out and everything you need is supplied, bush shower, toilet, water and kayaks to explore the creek and hopefully spot a platypus. They will even bring you firewood to your campsite if requested. The ecosystem is so diverse and healthy. We spotted many birds including the azure kingfisher. Set in the beautiful Mary Valley, this place is a must do .

We had a very relaxing time and the hosts were really great... There's quite a lot of animals roaming around the property and they aren't shy about dropping into camp and introducing themselves... Made friends with a donkey and a few camels! The dam is great for kids swimming... Will be back for sure... If you are thinking taking a break in bush surroundings you will love Hidden Camp!

We stayed at Jacks Shack and loved every moment of it. The little structures around the camping areas make it different and they are an absolutely brilliant add on. The views spectacular and overall it was a very relaxing few days. Added advantage of close potable water and portaloos in close proximity an advantage. We will definitely be staying again soon.

We spent the Christmas holidays camping at Yabba Creek Farm and couldn’t have asked for a batter experience. The hosts were incredibly friendly, welcoming and approachable, which made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The farm is beautifully maintained, with spotlessly clean amenities and a lovely, peaceful atmosphere. With only six sites, it never felt crowded - just relaxed and quiet, exactly what we were hoping for. We stay at the “Silky Oaks” site which had water hookup which is a nice bonus, making our 10 day stay with our caravan comfortable and easy. One of the highlights was definitely the kayaks. The kids absolutely loved exploring the creek and we parents had just as much joining in. It was such a special way to sound time together and enjoy the natural surroundings. All in all, Yabba Creek Farm was the perfect place to unwind, reconnect, and enjoy a truly memorable Christmas camping holiday. Highly recommend - we’ll definitely be back!

We stayed for five nights and had a wonderful experience. The hosts, Callam and Leah, were fantastic from the moment we arrived. Callam showed us around and helped us choose an unpowered site. At Hidden Camp, we were delighted by the friendly animals that live there, including donkeys, horses, camels, chickens, and ducks. We enjoyed exploring the property with its many scenic walks. We will definitely come back for another stay!
