The Cooke Family welcomes you to “Hopevale”. A beautiful 113 acre property bordered by Wrattens National Park at the edge of the world in the peaceful Widgee district of greater Gympie. Jason, a landscaper by trade, and Jacinta a teacher by profession, met many years ago at a national Christian youth conference. Four beautiful children later and many years down the track, they bought Hopevale as a blank cattle fattening property in 2018. After much hard work, they have made it what it is today, with plans to continually improve. We have different camp options available, one of which is set up for those guests also wanting to stay with horses or just have a larger group booking. Guests will have access to a toilet and shower throughout their stay which is within walking distance from each of the campsites. Campfires and pets are welcome. The property has only had 4 farming owners in its 110 odd years since it was first surveyed and selected in 1915. The Hillcoats, Bishops, Cotters, and now the Cooke’s. The families over the years have used the property for timber getting, dairy, beef and small cropping. The property is geologically rich with volcanic soils, sandstone escarpments full of caves and overhangs. The mighty Wrattens Falls sits to the back of the property in the National Park and is a sight to behold in full flow. It feeds the head waters of the western branch of Widgee Creek which meanders through the property. The subtropical dry rainforest clad mountains are dominated by the majestic Bunya and Hoop pines and are a testament to what once was covering the entire property before being cleared for farming. Remnant riparian creek lines are botanically rich and diverse holding Red and White Cedar, Teak, Silky oak and many other coveted timber trees harvested back in the day. There are many species of animals and birds that call Hopevale home. From water dragons, frogs and fish in the creeks, monitors, wallabies, deer, koalas, possums and phascogales in the eucalypts. Red-back wrens, pardalotes, rainbow bee-eaters, finches and quail call the open grasses home while whip birds give their iconic call in the forest. Quiet music only up until 8pm General noise to a minimum after 9pm. Please do not book if you and your group cannot follow our rules. Reviews will be reflected honestly. During school holidays, weekends and long weekends we require a minimum of two people for the length of booking with a Minimum of two nights. PS: Children 4 and under are free Please check local (Widgee) weather for accurate assessments. Sunshine Coast and Brisbane weather is very different. Our 'Little Fig Flat' Camp is able to accomodate 16 people and is within walking distance of our amenities. Rest assured, if you book this site, you and your group will be the only ones with access to the site. Little fig flat has its own beautiful section of the creek with swimming hole that's great for children to splash around in when in flow (Seasonal, so please msg if the creek flow is important to you). We also have "valley view swimming" in use for all year round swimming. So bring your floaties! Our property reflects the two seasons, it's green in the wet and brown in the dry! Little fig is a very large site able to accomodate multiple caravans/trailers and tents. Campfires are welcome in the fire drums provided and you can pre-purchase your fire wood via the extras section when making your booking. Pets are welcome but they must be kept on leash out of your camp at all times whilst on the property. Pets cannot be taken past our boundary into National Park (Waterfall and Cave walks are in the National Park). Please ensure you clean up after your pets and leave the site as you found it. We are located just over half an hour from Gympie. If you have any general questions or find camps booked out please msg us for potential options.

Campfires are welcome in the fire drums provided and you can pre-purchase your fire wood via the extras section when making your booking. Pets are welcome but they must be kept on a leash outside of your camp at all times whilst on the property. Pets are not allowed past our boundary into National Park (Waterfall and Cave walks are in the National Park). Please ensure you clean up after your pets and leave the site as you found it. Windmill Hollow
Jason was a great host, facilities were great & better than we imagined. We stayed in Windmill hollow, which in my opinion is the best (super private, spacious & the furthest away from the toilets but still a very short and manageable walk - even for my grandparents in their 80’s). Due to the weather, the creeks and holes obviously weren’t running, and the dam was low but still fun to use the kayak in. Lots of cattle, horses, birds and wallabies. Saw one brown snake on the drive in (super far away from the actual property but on the gravel road coming in - so drive slowly!) stars were incredible at night and generous amount of fire wood. Can’t wait to come back when it’s had some rain!

Hopevale Adventure Camping was an amazing place to stay and easily one of the best Hipcamps we’ve visited. There are five sites to choose from, and we stayed at the Mountain View site, which had an incredible view of the hillside. Jason was a great host, friendly and helpful, but also happy to leave you to do your own thing. He was always on hand if we had a question, needed a bit of help, or wanted some extra firewood. There’s plenty to do without feeling like you need to be entertained, swimming in the dam, bushwalking, exploring the property, or simply sitting back and enjoying the serenity. It’s also not too far from Gympie if you want to head into town for a look around. We stayed with our two kids and had an absolute ball. The hot shower and long-drop toilet are also great extras, making it a really comfortable option whether you’re camping in a tent, camper or caravan. We’ll definitely be coming back!

What a place, we stayed at Windmill Hollow, Currently very dry, but a beautiful place, clean toilet and shower, great little damn to swim in and a nice walk to what would be the water fall when flowing. Great walk to the hidden cave, which was really enjoyable and a pretty good workout. Can’t wait to go back after the summer rains as the place will be even more beautiful and I think the water fall will be amazing in the wet. Directions were easy to follow, Jason the host was great and very responsive. We will be back.

Big Fig Camp
Hopevale was a large and spacious hipcamp with great clean amenities, Big dam for swiming ( unfortunately we didn't get a swim in ,next time). There was plenty of walking to do on the property. Our camp (Big Fig) was large spacious and private. The fire wood we purchased was very generous and we bought heaps home. Had a chat with our host who was welcoming and informative about the property. We were there at the end of sry season so the creeks were dry, still an amazing place to chill out and enjoy the birds and the space. Will definitely be going back in the wet to see the creeks flowing Thanks for a lovely stay.

Thanks Jason. What an amazing place to camp. We stayed for 4 nights and it wasn't enough (2 Ad 3 Ch). So much to explore both on and off the property. We came fully self sufficient but turned out we didn't need to. Ammenities were great as was the entire property. Stunning mountain views from down in the valley. We ordered wood and weren't disappointed. Plenty for our stay. We were in the mountain view site and probably will again next time. If you haven't yet, you need to get out for a stay at Hopevale. See you again Jason.

Little Fig Flat
Jason has a great set up for camping, very clear signs and a map so you know where to go. The campsites are set up so there is plenty of room between them and you don't see or even hear your neighbours. I saw more animals at this campsite then I have seen in one place including wallabies, hares, monitor lizards, frogs, butterflies, and group of quails, little finches, pale headed rosellas, kookaburras, and a ton of other birds I don't know the name of. Would definitely recommend.

my wife and I spent 5 nights at Hopevale Adventure Camping. Jason was a great host and the camp site was very quiet and relaxing. The toilet and shower was perfect, very well thought out. There was lots of wallabies, birds and lizards surrounding our campsite. We did a couple of the walks on the property which we enjoyed and look forward to camping on this property again.

Big Fig Camp
I loved the Big Fig Camping area, plenty of privacy, would say it’s the most private camp site out of the ones to choose from. Perfect for a couple, but can easily see that it would be great to host a family or a few families. The site is very pet friendly and very kid friendly. Would recommend a high 2WD at the least, and any 4WD would be great on site. The site is very easy to navigate as there is plenty of signage for making your way around site. All the walks are marked out as well for easy convenience. Plenty of wildlife around as well, the cows are always out roaming and the plenty of wallabies. The site feels very safe and secure. The ammenities are very nice, the toilet and shower are both well kept and nice. It’s a beautiful site and my partner and I will definitely be back!

Windmill hollow was a beautiful spot to camp. Totally private and huge spot for the kids and dogs to run around and play. We came during the dry season and would love to come back during summer when the creeks and falls are flowing. Great spot, would definitely recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hopevale. We could not see the other campsites from our area which made it very private and peaceful. It's a great place to relax at camp or to get out exploring on the walking trails. Jason was a great host and gave us some good information on the local area.

Big Fig Camp
This is by far the best camp I've been to. Its 17kms off the main rd, so has zero traffic noise. And zero phone coverage means the perfect quiet place for a get away. Loads of wildlife and nature/walks to enjoy. Everything is amazingly set up with signposts etc. Toilet & shower are well built, clean & maintained. Its dry season, so there was no running creeks or rivers. So looking forward to visiting durung rainy season.

Big Fig Camp
We had such a great weekend staying here! The campsite was peaceful, relaxing & exactly what we were looking for. It was a really nice spot to switch off for a couple of days & enjoy being outdoors. Everything was easy from start to finish & we felt very welcome during our stay. We would definitely recommend this Hipcamp to anyone looking for a quiet weekend away & would happily stay again!

Windmill Hollow
Had a great time at the secluded Windmill Hollow. Our host, Jason was very welcoming. The camp had lots of walks , which were well sign posted. We made great use of the camp fire for our cooking and Jason provided good quality slow burning fire wood. We would recommend this camp and we plan to be back for another visit some time. It was nice to see the wallabies running around and with the night time star gazing made for a great bush experience.

The big fig campsite was truly an amazing experience. Very spacious and private, gorgeous views and lovely people. Jason was a great host, very kind and inviting, would definitely love to visit again.
