The Cooke Family welcomes you to “Hopevale”. A beautiful 113 acre property bordered by Wrattens National Park at the edge of the world in the peaceful Widgee district of greater Gympie. Jason, a landscaper by trade, and Jacinta a teacher by profession, met many years ago at a national Christian youth conference. Four beautiful children later and many years down the track, they bought Hopevale as a blank cattle fattening property in 2018. After much hard work, they have made it what it is today, with plans to continually improve. We have different camp options available, one of which is set up for those guests also wanting to stay with horses or just have a larger group booking. Guests will have access to a toilet and shower throughout their stay which is within walking distance from each of the campsites. Campfires and pets are welcome. The property has only had 4 farming owners in its 110 odd years since it was first surveyed and selected in 1915. The Hillcoats, Bishops, Cotters, and now the Cooke’s. The families over the years have used the property for timber getting, dairy, beef and small cropping. The property is geologically rich with volcanic soils, sandstone escarpments full of caves and overhangs. The mighty Wrattens Falls sits to the back of the property in the National Park and is a sight to behold in full flow. It feeds the head waters of the western branch of Widgee Creek which meanders through the property. The subtropical dry rainforest clad mountains are dominated by the majestic Bunya and Hoop pines and are a testament to what once was covering the entire property before being cleared for farming. Remnant riparian creek lines are botanically rich and diverse holding Red and White Cedar, Teak, Silky oak and many other coveted timber trees harvested back in the day. There are many species of animals and birds that call Hopevale home. From water dragons, frogs and fish in the creeks, monitors, wallabies, deer, koalas, possums and phascogales in the eucalypts. Red-back wrens, pardalotes, rainbow bee-eaters, finches and quail call the open grasses home while whip birds give their iconic call in the forest. Above, birds of prey ride the thermals of the valley looking for their next meal. “We have been blessed beyond measure with a small slice of God’s wonderful creation that we would love to share with you.”

Quiet music only up until 8pm General noise to a minimum after 9pm. Please do not book if you and your group cannot follow our rules. Reviews will be reflected honestly. During school holidays, weekends and long weekends we require a minimum of two people for the length of booking with a Minimum of two nights. PS: Children 4 and under are free Our 'Little Fig Flat' Camp is able to accomodate 16 people and is within walking distance of our amenities. Rest assured, if you book this site, you and your group will be the only ones with access to the site. Little fig flat has its own beautiful section of the creek with swimming hole that's great for children to splash around in when in flow. (Seasonal, so please msg if the creek flow is important to you.) We also have "valley view swimming" in use for all year round swimming. So bring your floaties! Our property reflects the two seasons, it's green in the wet and brown in the dry! Little fig is a very large site able to accomodate multiple caravans/trailers and tents. Campfires are welcome in the fire drums provided and you can pre-purchase your fire wood via the extras section when making your booking. Pets are welcome but they must be kept on leash out of your camp at all times whilst on the property. Pets cannot be taken past our boundary into National Park. (Waterfall and Cave walks are in the National Park) Please ensure you clean up after your pets and leave the site as you found it. We are located just over half an hour from Gympie. If you have any general questions or find camps booked out please msg us for potential options.

Slight caution for low clearance caravans on concrete creek causeway. (99% fine) Campfires are welcome in the fire drums provided and you can pre-purchase your fire wood via the extras section when making your booking. Pets are welcome but they must be kept on a leash outside of your camp at all times whilst on the property. Pets are not allowed past our boundary into National Park. (Waterfall and Cave walks are in the National Park) Please ensure you clean up after your pets and leave the site as you found it. We are located just over half an hour from Gympie. Rest assured, if you book this camp, you and your group will be the only ones with access to the camp. Big fig has its own small swimming hole (best suited to small children) when the creek is in flow (seasonal). Please msg if the creek flow is important to you. Our property reflects the two seasons, its green in the wet and brown in the dry! We also have "valley view swimming" in use for all year round swimming. So bring your floaties! Pets are welcome to be off leash at camp if trusted not to wander. Pets must be kept on a leash while out of your camp at all times whilst on the property. Pets cannot be taken past our boundary into National Park. (waterfall and cave walks are in the National Park) Please ensure you clean up after your pets and leave the site as you found it. We absolutely loved this camp. The land is very well kept, great signage, epic views! Amazing hikes and lots to explore. Our site was private and secluded which is exactly what we wanted. We will be back with friends to show it off.

We absolutely loved the space. Quiet, large campgrounds, super clean, great for families and group. There are heaps to do if you want to, or just relax in the shade under the trees. The host, Jason is super friendly and very welcoming. We will definitely be back.

It’s the most tranquil, peaceful and spacious campground with the magical challenging tracks. We loved our time there chilling at the campsite, watching the starry sky next to the campfire and challenging our climbing skills to the waterfall and the caves. We would love to camp here again.

What an adventure! The site was pristine, the little creek running beside the site was just so beautiful. The lookout, the waterfall and the swimming hole were simply stunning. If you are nervous about taking kids - don’t be! So much for them to do! There are even pool noodles for use at the swimming hole, a rope to help climb a big tree at the site and I saw a rope swing at the little fig site. And if you forget your glasses and miss the big 4WD only sign while going to the lookout, don’t stress! The host, Jason, is more than happy to come do a cheeky morning rescue with a laugh. The facilities were clean and easy to access, the map was easy to navigate and they even go as far as putting big pink markers on the rocks and trees at the waterfall so you know which way to go up and down. The entire site also felt safe. As a solo traveller, trusting your gut is a must and I would absolutely come back with just myself and my 4 year old and recommend stunning camp to everyone.

Jason's place was spectacular. It has the beauty of the surrounding area one would expect off grid (small mountain, bush, creek and lots of spaces. It would have been perfect had water is flowing on the creek. Jason did advice us prior, so issue to us Lastly, the amenities are kept cleaned and we'll maintained. Highly recommended.

Beautiful large sites with plenty of privacy, the weather was a bummer getting rained out but next time we will stay longer and take advantage of the bushwalks and waterfall when in season. Great hosts and a generous load of firewood delivered to site. A short walk to clean amenities. Thanks guys, can't wait to do it again

We absolutely love Windmill Hollow. We have been countless times and will continue to come back. Jason is an amazing host and he keeps the sites in pristine condition. Beautiful luscious grass that is always nicely mown. Sites are really private and massive. This is a hipcamp well worth checking out.

We stayed at the Big Fig site at Hopevale for 4 nights and had a really nice, peaceful stay. Jason is a great host, friendly and easy to deal with and the site itself felt private and quiet which we really appreciated. There was heaps of wildlife around too, lots of wallabies, cows wandering past, plenty of birds and we even spotted a snake on our last night which made things interesting. It was a bit disappointing that we couldn’t swim in the dam but we chose to do the hike out to the hidden cave instead and honestly that ended up being more fun and a great little adventure. Overall it’s a lovely spot if you’re after some time in nature and a quiet place to switch off. We really enjoyed our stay.

had a very lovely stay at Mountain View. hike to the cave was a fair bit harder than expected and reception took a further drive out than we had assumed, other than that the campsite was absolutely beautiful and well maintained, extremely peaceful setting with lots of fun to be had and wonderful sights to see. shame the swimming hole was out of season, but the next one in town was close-by enough and so much fun it wasn’t at all an issue!

It was a wonderful time away!! Good space between camps so you knew other people were around but good amount of privacy. Great directions to get to the space and they provide you with a map for walks and of the space in general. Definitely a wonderful time away!

Lovely campsite, with lovely owners. We stayed on the Mountain View site which was peaceful with amazing views. We completed the hidden cave hike, which was a fun scramble, followed by a lovely swim in the watering hole. Highly recommend this camp for people looking for a chilled place with activities.

Hopevale was a beautiful place to stay. Though it was a very hot weekend, there were lots of lovely shady spots and lovely scenery. We had our dog this time and he loved seeing all the cows nearby. The ammenities were the the creek was dry due to drought, their swimming dam set up great! Would camp here again. Thanks Jason and family!

Was a lovely campsite, great hosts. Very well kept - flat and grass cut. Some nice shady spots. Basically no mozzies/midges which was amazing! Might have been because the creek was dry. The toilet/shower aren't fancy but are clean and neat. If you are filling up a water container, bring a tube or something as the potable water is only from a sink.

Great place, stayed for five nights as this was our second time, lovely big swimming dam with a board jump, kids would love it, there is little running creek, more so when rain has been, very pieceful, a few marsh flies, Jacinta and jason are lovely. We will be back.

The Big Fig tree was definitely one of the best spots to camp lovely shade from the heat. Friendly goanna roaming around. Nice and close to ammenities that were kept clean daily. Little walk to the swimming hole.

Sensational as usual. Place to myself, creek was running, water was cold on those hot days and storms at night. Too hot to do the hikes but I was content with sitting under the little fig tree reading and swimming the day away.

Lovely flat ground, several spacious campsites. Plenty of creeks and swimming holes with provided kayak. Town/general store only 15 min drive (with reception). Jason friendly and everything clean. A couple hiking trails and lots of livestock to watch nearby
