It was a lovely trip for our anniversary. We saw some cool wildlife such as a bush stone-curlew, a brown antichinus and some pale faced rosellas. The horses were gorgeous and so calm, and, I think her name was Kara that was filling in for Michael, was super lovely and helpful. We camped by the creek, and it felt nice and private but not uncomfortably isolated. A carpet python was spotted, so just keep your eyes open for the wildlife, as although not spotted, as with anywhere there is a risk of snakes, QLD have some venomous species so better to just keep an eye out. Quiet and tucked away, this was a nice stay.

I can’t provide feedback on the site and amenities as we didn’t get that far in our stay. We arrived to the address after paying for early check in, but there was no one home to meet us and show us where to go. I tried contacting the host by mobile, app message and knocking on front/back doors with no response. We ended up leaving after 20 mins and finding somewhere else to stay.

The actual camping spot at the back of the property was beautiful; well grassed, horses feeding, tranquil lake and shady areas. As the Hipcamp post explains, you can hear traffic on the freeway but knowing this in advance took away that issue. The entrance to the property looks dodgy and unkempt. Keep driving through.

Always a good campsite when there’s plenty of wood around. There was about 10 horses visiting us every so often was so beautiful. Only 15 minutes from Australia zoo which is amazing. We stopped in at beerwah aquatic centre for showers. 🙏🏼

Magical and beautiful place! We lit a fire in the evening and woke up before sunrise at the beautiful site right next to the lake. There are horses roaming around, and Michael was incredibly kind and welcoming. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves being immersed in nature and doesn’t mind giving up some comforts for a truly authentic experience surrounded by nature. Thank you so much!

On arrival I stuck my head in a door and yelled out Hello!!! Yeah, don’t do that !! Once you work out that you are at a HipCamp place of some kind, drive slowly through the caravan and car graveyard, rubbish piles and collapsed tin sheds etc. the owner/manager will show you to a site that’s uneven and rough. If you enjoy being so close to the Bruce HWY you’ll be fine.

Mike was a fantastic host. Boys loved hanging out with him and helping with the horses etc. Our spot was beautiful looking out over the lake with the horses ambling around. Very convenient location for Australia Zoo, Ozzie world, beaches from Caloundra to Maroochydore with the highway so close which was good for us but yes, does mean you have the traffic noise in the background. There's just the one toilet at the entrance to the property so if you don't have a camping toilet and/or bikes to get up and back it might not suit. Loved our western style horse riding lesson. We had a great stay. Thanks Mike.

Site 1 - Wild Horse Retreat
Such a great spot to camp up! Michael was polite and showed us into the campground where we had a little campfire by the water. There were only a couple other people there but it felt like we had so much space to ourselves. The amenities aren’t too great and quite a walk away so we avoided them, BUT there is a service station a 2 minute drive around the corner. There was also a friendly horse roaming around and let us him a little pat. Overall, it was such a perfect spot for us to camp for the night be close to Mount Ngungun for a perfect sunrise hike!

Site 10 - Wild Horse Retreat
Our family absolutely loved our trip here. Michael was a very friendly host. Whilst the highway traffic was noticeable when we arrived, it became white noise. The horses were an absolute highlight for our kids. This place is conveniently located near shops if you forget something. I was glad we took our own toilet. We would definitely recommend this place to our friends and our whole family would gladly holiday here again. The site was busy enough that you felt a world away from home. There is a lake near the other sites for fishing but we enjoyed our secluded spot at the end. Thank you Michael🙂

Site 6 - Wild Horse Retreat
An address!!! And contact details !! We booked and paid and couldn’t find it despite driving all around the area, asking locals, using the overhead photo of the place And no luck ! The only contact was here on hip camps , lost our money and were forced to drive in the dark for another few hours before squeezing into Caboolture Showgrounds No contact even after the payment was made To offer us a refund would be good , I left Michael my contact details twice Avoid this rort !

Quiet tranquil spot some road noise but did not distract from the camp Horses walking through property made the stay
