Situated just off the Burnett Highway between Goomeri and Ban Ban Springs, the Boonara Creek is the perfect spot to pull up and unwind for a day or a couple to enjoy the beauty of nature. Enjoy the creek view by day and then watch the sun set to a sky full of stars by night. Don’t forget to bring some marshmallows to toast on your campfire! Australia is full of amazing landscapes which are a treasure to enjoy. We have an abundance of bird life, every so often spot a turtle and if your lucky we recently saw a platypus in the creek. The creek has ample room for fishing, swimming and even kayaking (season dependant). Take a walk along the creek and appreciate being outdoors. We have many attractions within our area. Coming up on the last Sunday of May is the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival, it is always a great weekend for all. There are many wineries in the area to wine & dine, Boat Mountain has some great bushwalks & lookouts and the Kilkivan to Kingaroy Rail Trail is great for those who enjoy a bike ride. Recently opened in Murgon is the fossil museum & fine art gallery, 55 Million Years Ago. On the website a quote states, “In the late 1980’s, fossils found near Boat Mountain just outside Murgon in Southern Queensland rocked the palaeontology world. 15 new fossil species discovered here were found to be 55 million years old, predating any other Eocene period fossils found in Australia by 20 million years.” Suited to all, make a day of it and visit 55 Million Years Ago in the morning, enjoy lunch at a local winery before heading to Boat Mountain to see where they found the fossils and enjoy the sunset. We are a busy working property and horse training facility. Our business consists of backgrounding cattle, growing and irrigating of cattle feed and lucerne, as well as making hay. Our son owners and operates a horse training business on our property. Sit back and enjoy your time while knowing you are supporting a farming family!

Camping in Good Night Scrub National Park guide

Overview

About

Immerse yourself in the serene beauty of Good Night Scrub National Park, a haven for nature enthusiasts and birdwatchers alike. Venture into the park's vast landscapes, where the calls of over 166 bird species echo through the hoop pine rainforests. Explore the scenic firetrails on foot, and keep an eye out for the park's diverse wildlife, including wallabies and butterflies. Although camping is not available within the park, the surrounding areas offer alternative accommodation options.

When to go

The best time to visit Good Night Scrub National Park is between April and September, when the subtropical climate is milder and rainfall is less frequent. Avoid the summer months from December to February, as temperatures can soar to 40°C, making outdoor activities less comfortable. Always check for park alerts before planning your visit to stay informed about current conditions.

Know before you go

  • Check road conditions and park alerts before your visit, as access roads can flood after heavy rain.
  • Wear a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, and sturdy shoes for a safe and enjoyable experience.
  • Mobile phone coverage is unreliable, so plan accordingly and inform someone of your bushwalking plans.
  • Domestic animals are not permitted, ensuring the park's wildlife remains undisturbed.
  • Bring sufficient food and water, as there are no facilities for purchase within the park.
