We have 9...(10 Now with our new calf Gracie) gorgeous Scottish Highlands, the Scottish folk pronounce it "Heilen Coos" so that's how we say it, I'm not spelling it wrong đŸ€©đŸ˜†Follow us 'The new Gumtree Dam Highlands page' You'll meet Kelvin the Scottish Highland Bull, Oakley her calf Lucy, Willow and her calf Ferdinand (Ferdi), and our new additions Dusty and Maddi, they can be both fun and relaxing to watch doing zoomies around the yard, swimming in the dam or chilling under a tree 😁 We have 2 new little ones Alfie and Angus Keep in mind from December to March we have hot, rainy summers. For the adventurous campers who use swags/tents, we suggest a stretcher and a gazebo with walls for a little comfort. Some areas need 4wd also. Check in is after 1pm and check out is strictly before 10.30am, we promise you will get your 'Heilen Coo' fix 😝 We have Souvineers and firewood please bring cash 😍 Be mindful around all animals as they get to know you, be smart please. Kids can bring bikes, must be supervised at all times, no screaming or running. Pets are welcome, we have 2 dogs Jesse and Cane, who are both very friendly. Our Maremma is an Italian breed of livestock gaurdian dog, he does bark a little at night to protect our pets, which goes hand in hand with all of our other farm noises 😉 Our Neighbours have fish farms, you may hear the odd gun go off, just to scare the shags away from feeding in the ponds. It's totally safe. Feel free to put on some music and have a few drinks by the campfire, but we want our farm to be a place where our animals and our guests feel safe and relaxed, so we do not accommodate noisy parties. Relax and unwind with a book or go for a bush walk and listen to the kookaburras. Watch Sea Eagles, pelican, wild budgies, rainbow lorikeet and more. All your cares will feel like they are a million miles away as you soak up nature, we guarantee you will have an amazing experience. 6 Kms in at our historic Childers there is a Woolworths, IGA, great pubs for lunch, cafes and bakeries, plus a swimming pool, museum, snakes down under and Woodgate beach 25 mins away.

Ferdi and Lucy's site is a gorgeous one near the dam. If you have a group, it would be good for 8 guests, 2 to 3 vans a few swags/tent, you get the idea :) Get away from the hussle and bustle Relax near the billabong or have a quiet walk around the farm meeting the animals. There's a good chance you'll see the highlands getting in the dam to cool off. Hand feed is around 4 depending on weather so take care and please join in. There is potable water and a toilet close by. You have got ample room at Yellowstone. It's not as shady but great if you need to use solar, and is close to toilet and shower if you are not self sufficient. While you relax and soak up the peaceful farm vibe be sure to watch the the Coos do their thing. Don't approach unless told you can please Hand feeding is at 4 or 5 depending on the weather. Enjoy a book under a beautiful big shady gumtree or go for a bush walk, whatever you like to do this is your time and we'll be happy to make it memorable for you. This site is located among the trees so a lot of shade, great for warmer weather, not so much if you need solar. It would suit camper van, tents, swags or rooftop tents. This site is just a short walk to where we feed the Coos, there is a porta loo close by, lots of shade and bird life like kookaburras, one of our favourite. This site is suitable for swags right up to 4wds and vans. So whether you relax, read a book under a beautiful big shady gumtree or go for a short bush walk, we are sure your visit will be enjoyable. This site is nice and spacious. It is powered with close access to the horse float shower and toilet if you are not self-contained. Dusty's site is in the vicinity of Yellowstone sites, you will not be on top of each other there is plenty of room. Take your pets for a walk anywhere on the 25 acres. It's all fenced. Please don't take them near our cows or other animals, although our dogs are usually fine. Keep them restrained at all times please. This site is up and out of the way a little with some beautiful gumtrees around and lots private space. Walk around the farm or just chill near the billabong with a book or some music and soak up nature. Be sure to catch the feeding and brushing of the fluffy Coos at around 4 depending on weather, 5pm in summer :) đŸ€  You are walking distance to a toilet and also drinking water is available ,this site has some shade . plenty of sun for solar Generators allowed between 9am and 11am. Chrissy and Duane were so welcoming and made our experience on their Highland Cow farm extra special! The variety of friendly animals and beautiful campsites among such a wonderful landscape made it very enjoyable!

We had mixed feelings about our stay at Gumtree Dam Highlands. The host was helpful and accommodating, including letting us move sites, helping us find a power workaround, and allowing a later checkout, which we appreciated. That said, the property was not quite what we expected from the listing photos. The camping areas we saw were very dry, dusty and covered in red dirt, rather than the greener setting shown online. The area further up the back under some tree cover was nicer, which is where we eventually moved, but overall the conditions were disappointing. The powered site we originally booked also did not suit us. It was very close to the toilet/shower area and felt exposed, with limited privacy. We feel this should be clearer in the listing. The pricing was also frustrating. We thought we were booking the site at the advertised nightly rate, but were then told we needed to add an extra guest, which increased the total significantly. That may be standard, but it was not clear to us. The main issue was the pet situation. The listing says pets are welcome, but we did not realise the owners’ dogs roam off-leash around the property. Our dogs are friendly, but naturally reacted when the resident dogs came near us, which made it hard to relax. Overall, not a terrible stay, but the listing would benefit from clearer information about the site conditions, powered site location, pricing, and resident off-leash dogs.

Bloody beautiful spot. Chrissy & Duane are the loveliest hosts, and their little herd of Coos definitely are the icing on the cake. Our only bad part is on us - we only booked the one night. So peaceful and great for the kids.

We loved our time at Gumtree Dam Highlands! Just a short drive from Bundaberg, it made for the perfect easy weekend getaway with friends. The animals were definitely the highlight – we loved feeding, brushing and spending time with them. 🐼 The grounds are immaculate, and the hot showers and clean amenities were a fantastic touch. Chrissy and Duane were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. We can’t wait to come back for another stay! ❀

Had a wonderful weekend away at Gumtree Dam Highlands. Beautiful campsites with views of the dam and natural bushlands. Showers and toilets were kept in amazing condition. Chrissy and Duane are amazing hosts that go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable during your stay. The experience of feeding the highlands and company of the farm dogs whilst cooking our evening meals and having a campfire made it a memorable experience. We will back in the future! 😌

Long Weekender with the Coos!

Absolutely loved our stay at Gumtree Dam Highlands! We stayed at Dusty’s Site which was right next to the amazing horse float hot shower and toilets! We were welcomed by the lovely hosts who were so helpful and super friendly! Site is a short walk down the gorgeous highland cows that also roam the campsite during the day and may come say hello! The hand feeding was such an amazing experience such a beautiful property with beautiful animals! 100% recommend this HipCamp thank you Chrissy and Duane for letting us share your property we had such a great stay!

We loved it! Chrissy and Duane were so friendly. We got to help feed the Highland cows sweet potatoes which was a standout experience for us. The camp ground was immaculate and it all have a rustic charm feeling. Great toilets and roomy hot shower made from a horse float. They had lots of other friendly animals there including sheep and a dog that will play ball untill your arm falls off . It was such a beautiful farm with a safe and friendly environment. We will definitely be going back again soon.

Directions were helpful, welcomed at the gate. Plenty of space to pick a spot to set up. Farm animals were characters and fun to watch and feed. Toilet kept very clean. Hosts, Chrissy and Duane lovely, warm and friendly. Thank you for sharing you property with us.

Awesome Scottish highland cows, sheep, dogs and chickens wander freely around. 4.30pm is the daily feeding of sweet potato’s to the cows and sheep which is so much fun. Lovely quiet spot.

We loved this place. Plenty of space between the sites. Lovely outlook and very peaceful when we stayed. Of course the highlands cows are beautiful and feeding them sweet potatoes was definitely a highlight. Not far from Childers if you need anything. Definitely will come back with the grandies.

We had a wonderful stay here! The property is beautiful, with good amenities. Chrissy and Duane were very friendly hosts, offering lots of interaction with the farm animals and lovely highland coos! Our kids loved it and the campsites were spacious and very tidy.

Location was lovely and close to Bundy and Childers. Camp grounds were quiet and the animals were a great addition. Chrissy and Duane very accommodating. Could use another shower, I know this is on the to do list. Perhaps a few more safeguards for people and children around the farm animals and working dogs as at times can be unpredictable. Overall enjoyed our stay.

10/10 weekend getaway

Could not ask for a better campsite. Chrissy and Duane have obviously put so much love and care into their animals as well the whole property. I think it’s ruined all other campsites for me. What an experience getting to interact with the cows and a big bonus was getting Jessie and Cane as our camp dogs for the weekend. Will 100% be back!

We loved camping at Gumtree Dam Highlands. Easy directions in a fantastic location. Very well set out with good clean amenities. Yes there were other sites near by but we had plenty of room and it was quiet. We loved the farm animals and getting to feed and brush the Highland Coos. There are other farm animals there as well. Chrissy and Duane are super friendly, welcoming and helpful. We can't wait to go back and would 100% recommend them and their amazing place.

Sorry, hit the wrong rating. Really loved our time there at Lucy's with a front seat view of the Coos. Amenities were great and the hosts very welcoming. Loved having Jessie the dog with us during the stay.

I couldn’t recommend this place more. All of the sites are spread out so you aren’t close to random people. The showers have awesome hot water. There is plenty for the kids to do and Chrissy & Duane do so well to get the kids involved in the animal feeding. Great location only 10 minutes from Childers but you still feel like you are in the bush. 10/10!
