We had such a wonderful stay! The property was beautiful and peaceful, and everything was thoughtfully set up. The amenities were lovely, clean and well maintained, which made the whole stay really comfortable. One of our favourite parts was getting to feed the Highland coos and spend some time with the dogs, we really enjoyed our time here. We’d absolutely recommend this Hipcamp to anyone looking for a relaxing stay with a little something extra. We’d happily come back again!

We stayed stayed for 4 nights and had a great stay, we chose this site because of the interaction available with all the animals on the property. The farm dogs were super friendly and loved to hang around by the camp fire. Amazing shower set up and toilets are well kept and clean. Plenty of room to run about, close to Childers, reptile park close by, Bundaberg only 30min drive away and also Woodgate Beach. My daughter wanted to stay longer!

Stayed for two nights, excellent destination. Very clean amenities, sites are well spaced so don’t feel crowded. Highland cows are amazing, would highly recommend a visit there.

Eric's Site

Amazing campsite and host. Chrissy was very welcoming. Our site was huge. Nice and quiet place. We loved watching the coos and sheep wandering. Kids loved the Guinea pig cuddles too. Toilets were spotless and kids just had to experience showering in the horse float. Gift shop had some nice things and we purchased a sticker for our van.

Overall we had a wonderful experience. Chrissy and Duane have started something from scratch and making it their own unique stay! We loved the small things like the horse float shower and the free range the kids had to play in the chicken coop/ Guinea pig pen. It was also very interesting to learn about the highland cows. The part I was not comfortable with would be that the farm dogs as listed ‘friendly’, were more intimidating & protective. Thank you for allowing us to visit your property.

We loved our stay at Gumtree Dam Highlands. Chrissy and Duane were wonderful hosts who made us feel very welcome at their property. The Heilan Coos were beautiful, as were their dogs who came to visit us for belly rubs. We had a very private and spacious site with plenty of shade. I would highly recommend a visit to this fantastic camp site.

This was our first Hipcamp, and it set the bar so high for all future campsites! Chrissy and Duane have created something really special, and are the most lovely people! We originally booked Willows site, but on entry, Duane said Ferdi’s and Lucy’s spot was available, and was a bit better, and boy was he right! We LOVED our stay!

The site was wonderful! Plenty of space to spread out as needed. Well kept (and mainly flat) grounds, and easy access to well maintained amenities. I also loved that the coos were roaming around the camp-site which made for many great photo opportunities.

We had a great stay at Gumtree Dam. Chrissy & Duane were very welcoming and shared all the animals with the kids. Camping in the Yellowstone paddock was beautiful and even the hot shower in the horse float was a highlight. Highly recommend. Thanks!

We had such an amazing stay at Gumtree Highland Farm! Through no fault of the hosts or the property, I badly sprained my ankle after misjudging the step on our van, so I didn’t get to spend as much time exploring as we’d planned. Even so, it was still an unforgettable experience. Feeding the beautiful Highland coos and spending time with the adorable baby lambs was definitely a highlight. The property is peaceful, picturesque, and the perfect place to relax and unwind. Chrissy and Duane are absolutely wonderful hosts. They were so caring and thoughtful after my accident, checking in on me and making sure I was okay. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and their genuine kindness really stood out. We left with wonderful memories despite my mishap, and we’ll definitely be back when I’m fully mobile so we can experience everything we missed. We highly recommend Gumtree Highland Farm to anyone looking for a relaxing country getaway with gorgeous animals and genuinely lovely hosts.

We just Camped at gumtree highland for 5nights, we had an amazing time. We got to feed the animals everyday, loved brushing the cows. The kids had a great time riding their bikes around the farm seeing the chickens and holding the Guinea pigs. Would 100% go back. Chrissy and Duane were amazing hosts.. thank you for everything

Mixed stay listing could be clearer

We had mixed feelings about our stay at Gumtree Dam Highlands. The host was helpful and accommodating, including letting us move sites, helping us find a power workaround, and allowing a later checkout, which we appreciated. That said, the property was not quite what we expected from the listing photos. The camping areas we saw were very dry, dusty and covered in red dirt, rather than the greener setting shown online. The area further up the back under some tree cover was nicer, which is where we eventually moved, but overall the conditions were disappointing. The powered site we originally booked also did not suit us. It was very close to the toilet/shower area and felt exposed, with limited privacy. We feel this should be clearer in the listing. The pricing was also frustrating. We thought we were booking the site at the advertised nightly rate, but were then told we needed to add an extra guest, which increased the total significantly. That may be standard, but it was not clear to us. The main issue was the pet situation. The listing says pets are welcome, but we did not realise the owners’ dogs roam off-leash around the property. Our dogs are friendly, but naturally reacted when the resident dogs came near us, which made it hard to relax. Overall, not a terrible stay, but the listing would benefit from clearer information about the site conditions, powered site location, pricing, and resident off-leash dogs.

Bloody beautiful spot. Chrissy & Duane are the loveliest hosts, and their little herd of Coos definitely are the icing on the cake. Our only bad part is on us - we only booked the one night. So peaceful and great for the kids.

We loved our time at Gumtree Dam Highlands! Just a short drive from Bundaberg, it made for the perfect easy weekend getaway with friends. The animals were definitely the highlight – we loved feeding, brushing and spending time with them. 🐮 The grounds are immaculate, and the hot showers and clean amenities were a fantastic touch. Chrissy and Duane were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. We can’t wait to come back for another stay! ❤️

Amazing Farmstay!!

Had a wonderful weekend away at Gumtree Dam Highlands. Beautiful campsites with views of the dam and natural bushlands. Showers and toilets were kept in amazing condition. Chrissy and Duane are amazing hosts that go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable during your stay. The experience of feeding the highlands and company of the farm dogs whilst cooking our evening meals and having a campfire made it a memorable experience. We will back in the future! 😌

Long Weekender with the Coos!

Absolutely loved our stay at Gumtree Dam Highlands! We stayed at Dusty’s Site which was right next to the amazing horse float hot shower and toilets! We were welcomed by the lovely hosts who were so helpful and super friendly! Site is a short walk down the gorgeous highland cows that also roam the campsite during the day and may come say hello! The hand feeding was such an amazing experience such a beautiful property with beautiful animals! 100% recommend this HipCamp thank you Chrissy and Duane for letting us share your property we had such a great stay!
