Dam Crazy? You would have to be to bypass over 620 acres of scenic bushland off the beaten track for your next camping getaway or stopover on your way on the Bruce Highway. An abundance of birdlife with over 135 different species found so far including a Powerful Owl. A magnificent 400 megalitre dam that now forms part of the natural landscape of this unique property. A hidden gem in the Wide Bay/Fraser Coast area of Queensland where relaxation, peace and privacy are unavoidable as are the sunsets and shooting stars in the clear skies above. We are 20 minutes from the quaint Childers Township and 50 minutes from Bundaberg. The property is totally private and caravans cannot been seen from the road, the owners live on the property and only booked guests are to enter the property offering security and peace of mind. Whether you want to bird watch, kayak, fish (catch and release only), hike or ride one of the many trails or sit, relax and read your favourite book, we promise a warm welcome; from the wildlife and the proprietors Steve and Stacey. Dam Crazy is also pet friendly, dogs must be cleaned up after and may be walked off leash on the walking trails (please be mindful of other campers, farm animals and wildlife), they may also swim in the dam but must be contained or kept on leash in the campsite areas. The dam is very deep and could have snags washed down in floods, so we suggest children wear life jackets, and MUST be supervised by adults at all times around the water. Numbers are limited to ensure you have plenty of space and privacy! Campers must take all waste with them. Very good phone reception.

Great hosts, massive flat tent site near the toilets, which were kept very clean. The dam is stunning! Kids and adults loved the kayaks and jumping from the pontoon. The kids were able to go and help feed the birds. Hosts were so lovely. Will be back, hopefully very soon. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Absolutely loved this place. The sites were level and really well set up, with fire pits and picnic tables, and there was plenty of space between sites so you never felt like you were camping on top of everyone else. The whole place had such a peaceful, relaxed feel. There were walking tracks to explore, lots of animals and birdlife, and a beautiful sunset. Even the sound of kids playing in the distance somehow blended perfectly with the birds and the surroundings rather than disturbing the serenity. The toilets were clean and, importantly, not stinky! Everything felt well maintained without losing that proper bush-camping feel. The dam and surrounding trees made for a beautiful setting. There are lots of trees, so don't necessarily expect a spectacular sunrise from your campsite, but honestly, that's hardly something you can complain about when the trees are part of what makes the place so lovely. A really peaceful, well thought-out campground with plenty of room to relax and explore. I'd happily stay here again.

Great spot, coming around the bend and seeing the dam! Steve was so welcoming and helpful. Lovely spot , was planning to stay another day or two but had neighbour campers that were a bit rowdy last night 🤣

Loved this gorgeous, well spaced & incredibly well looked after property. We were in Site 6, a flat spot (no leveling required) with fire pit that was perfect for our overnight stay in our campervan - super easy in & out & a short walk to the well maintained toilets. Only 2 other sites in use, so a lovely quiet evening & morning wakeup to the birds. We will be back!

Fabulous spot. Big, well spaced sites with fire pits and picnic benches. Lovely clean toilets. Staff are very friendly and the dam is just wonderful for a swim. They even provide kayaks for free use. There’s lovely walks around the property for people with dogs. We’ve been 3 times now.

Great location with a friendly host I wish we could have stayed longer. Our dam front site seemed to have been given to another visitor but despite that, we still thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had a lovely quiet two days overlooking the dam. It is a great spot with lovely views and walking trails. Strongly recommend you take one of the provided canoes/kayaks and paddle up the creek from the dam. Well worth a visit for a few days

We stayed 1 night in our van with 2 dogs. Lots of room between sites so you definitely don't feel like you're on top of each other. The dam has 2 sandy beach access points on either side of the jetty and was awesome to swim in on a hot day. There are even kayaks to use. Toilets were very clean. Hosts are really friendly and gave us a quick run down of the site and then left us to it. We've already told all our family about Dam Crazy and will certainly be back again.
