Hold it Flats is a 120 acre property that borders the beautiful O'Connell River that has water all year round. Take a walk around the property to check out some of the creatures that have been built out of scrap metal and bush bars that have been built all around the property. There is nice shady trees, green grass and flat camping sites right beside the river with hot showers and flushing toilets. There is plenty of room and some great tracks for the kids and the big kids to ride their push bikes on. The swimming hole is about 2 meters deep and has big shady trees on the edge. There is also enough room for kids to bring their kayaks and have a paddle along the river. We have some hiking tracks up around the hills of our property that have amazing views of the area. All campsites can be provided with their own fire pit. You just pick your spot and we will bring a portable fire pit to you. Fire wood can be purchased at the property. All rubbish must be taken with you, there are no rubbish bins provided.

The area has mowed grass, plenty of trees for shade, ground is nice and flat and is only about 20 meters away from the river.  You can choose your own campsite space and group together. Hot showers, flushing toilets and fire pits are provided. We always keep an area free from campers on the rivers edge (between Riverside sites 2 and 3) so you can take your picnic blanket down and watch the kids swim and enjoy a relaxing drink. Pets on leash are welcomed. Please note that Check-In time is strictly 1.00pm and Check-Out time is strictly 11.00am.

Lovely grassed and flat sites with nice shady trees.  There are 8 flushing toilets and 8 hot showers. Big covered area with BBQ, sink, tables, chairs and a comfy lounge to rest on. It's also a great area for the kids to ride their push bikes around with a few tracks, hills and gullies to test their skills out.  It's only just short walk across the road to the river and we always leave space for people to take their picnic blankets down and sit on the edge of the river. That way you can have a relaxing drink while you watch the kids swim. Generators are allowed but can only be run from 8.00am to 5.00pm. Pets on leash are welcomed. Please note that Check-In time is strictly 1.00pm and Check-Out time is 11.00am.

This area can be hired out for private functions such as weddings, birthdays and gatherings. We would like at least 1 month's notice to hire this area out if possible. This area is completely separate from the rest of our camp ground and has nice grass, shady trees, toilets, showers and a camp kitchen. There is also a big wood smoker oven and BBQ that can be used. We have also built a small pool that you can sit and relax in.

Stayed there a couple of weeks ago with my sons and our dog in our tent right on the river front which was absolutely amazing , such a perfect spot for kids to enjoy the outdoors kayaking , swimming and also some great short hikes you can do as well ! The facilities are amazing and so clean , the host Katie was so helpful showing us to our camp spot and bringing extra fire wood they have for sale to use in the fire pit. Excellent location , beautiful river will be back for sure for a longer stay next time , now we know how great it is.

Amazing place to stay. The kids had an absolute ball. There was amenities nearby and we did a tour of the property which was so much fun. Would highly recommend.

Hold it Flats camping ground never disappoints. Great hosts, swimming is cold but refreshing. Clean and tidy camp sites. Toilets and showers are spotless. We book nearly every school holidays.

We love the camp been there before on the other side ( creek side ) and it was beautiful this time we stayed on track side and it was just as good. Lovely clean showers and toilets and plenty of space for our site was very busy start of the school holidays. Katie does a great job and we will be back soon with our friends Kevin and Robynne.

This place was amazing. The area is so beautiful. Katie and all the staff were awesome and very helpful. If you go, make sure you do the hike to all the lookouts, the views are perfect.

Hold It Flats Riverfront Camping
We absolutely love camping at Hold It Flats and will definitely be back! The riverside campsites are beautiful, and there’s nothing more relaxing than falling asleep to the sound of the river running. The fire pits are generously sized, making them perfect for a campfire each evening. The amenities are always spotless, with lovely hot showers, and the grounds are incredibly well maintained. You can tell a lot of care goes into keeping the campground looking its best. Kate, the owner, is so welcoming and friendly. This trip we did the buggy tour with her, and it was a real highlight! She took us to three different lookout points, each featuring its own quirky bar made from different recycled materials. The views were absolutely stunning and made for such a fun and unique experience. If you’re looking for a peaceful, well-maintained campground with fantastic hosts and plenty to explore, we can’t recommend Hold It Flats highly enough. We can’t wait to come back!

We loved camping at Hold it Flats. The sites are spacious. You can take your dog & each site has its own camp fire location. The toilets are super clean & the showers super hot. Excellent hip camp.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ As two single gals camping with our dogs, Hold It Flats was absolutely perfect. We felt relaxed, comfortable and welcomed from the moment we arrived. The grounds are beautifully maintained, with plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the peace and quiet without feeling crowded. Our dogs had the best time exploring and cooling off by the creek, while we enjoyed lazy afternoons soaking up the beautiful surroundings. The hot showers and clean amenities were a real bonus after a day outdoors. What we loved most was the laid-back atmosphere. It felt safe, friendly and like one of those special places where you can truly switch off from everyday life. We left feeling refreshed, with happy dogs and some wonderful memories. We'll definitely be back for another girls' camping trip. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful piece of Queensland with fellow campers.

Our second time staying at Hold It Flats did not dissapoint. The kids had a ball on SUP boards in the creek and walking up to the big swing at the top lookout. Night time was filled with marshmallows and damper on the camp fire and singing songs. Just a tranquil piece of paradise that we love coming back to.

We have stayed here so many times in every section. There is always a lovely welcome, you can do lots or do nothing, beautiful scenery, large sites, spotless amenities. The tour was great fun, especially as digs are allowed and the artwork everywhere is so clever. Love it. Thank you.
