This is a hidden gem! This is waterfront on the river where you can relax, play in the river with your own beach for your stay. It's a Very beautiful private open RV and Trailer Site on the Skagit River.
I have currently owned the property for 10 or so years. This is one of my happy places to bring friends and family and relax. This is where we get our river therapy. Nothing better than sitting by the camp fire watching the river flow and listening to the nature.
There is a nice big fire pit as well as a log picnic table. Lots of room to lounge around and enjoy the peace and quiet. Watch the eagle and fish on the river as you sit by the campfire. Kayak down the river from RockPort bridge and pull out right at camp. It's about a two and half hour float down with a Kayak right to camp.
Close drive to Baker Lake for the day to hike or sight see. An hour or so away from North Cascade Hwy passes. Or if you feel like a drive, head to Winthrop for the day and walk the town. Fishing can be done right at the site or a short walk to the point. Check the fishing regulations for the time of year you want to fish.

A 46 acre off grid communitiy nestled
within an established food forest. A mile of trails, a creek/pond, established agroforestry plantings and multiple examples of tiny homes and natural buildings dot the landscape. All within the context of a mature and established forest. The camping sites are private and removed from the bustle of the farm.
History: the farm was started in 1997. Matt Van Boven (your host and the owner) started on raw land and built all of the infrastructure with the help of many interns over the years. Every edible plant that could be grown here has been trialed. No irrigation, fertilizer, or cultivation is used on the farm. Only the most resilient and adapted plants remain to this day. These include hundreds of nut and fruit trees as well as many perennial edibles. Much of the forest, itself has been managed with thousands of cedar trees planted among the existing vegetation.
Besides the plantings, all manner of natural buildings are represented. Cordwood and cob being a few of the methods explored. The farm has a collection of tiny homes that surround a core of utilitarian structures and provide housing to an eclectic bunch of forest folk.
The land is uniquely situated on the confluence of two major rivers (the Sauk and the Skagit). The creek is an old river channel that is now abandoned. A couple sit-on-top kayaks are available to use to explore. For the adventurous, a trail carries on from the creek to the river itself.
The trail system is a labor of love crafted over the last 20 years. Almost a mile of manicured trails weave their way around the plantings and forest. The trees are almost 100 years old with some very large specimens of both maple and cedar.
The farm is completely off grid and has been so since its inception. Working with limited means has been a theme in the design and development. Living in a more ecological way has been a major inspiration for us and we hope that you, as a guest, not only have an enjoyable stay but also leave inspired to change your life in a similar direction!

We are a short 15 minute drive to the North Cascades National Park! During the winter (typically end of November/early December through April/May) part of Highway 20 and driving access to the park is closed. You are still able to get to our dome using Highway 20 as that part is open all year round, but you are unable to access the park. You are able to drive to the entrance, park and snow shoe in if you'd like.
The part of Highway 20 that is closed is on the west side at milepost 134 at the Ross Dam Trailhead and on the east side, at milepost 171 at the Silver Star Gate, near Mazama.
An alternative hiking destination for the winter months is the Rockport State Park which is only a 4 minute drive from the dome. You are able to purchase a day pass on your phone once you arrive.

Welcome to our peaceful property with beautiful views in every direction! Surrounded by blueberry fields, we purchased this property to enjoy camping with our three kids, extended family, and friends away from crowded campgrounds . Offering the use of it to others through Hipcamp is a fun way to share with others when not in use by us. We hope others will find the same joy we do.
Property access is directly off the road with any vehicle. We have had large motor homes on the property without any trouble. Traffic is minimal with mostly other people off to enjoy their recreational land. The nearest neighbors are about 500' away across the blueberry fields. You may occasionally hear our neighbors enjoying their property as well but the noises sound distant and haven't been a problem for us. Because we allow dispersed camping there may be other people on the property with you. Please select our group camping option If you are interested in having the entire property for yourselves or for an event such as a family reunion or large friend group camping trip.
The property is about one mile from the cascade bicycle trail which will take you to Sedro-Woolley in eleven miles or East to Birdsview Brewery in seven miles. If you explore even further East you'll find Act One Ice Cream Parlor adjacent to The Concrete Theater in Concrete. Check their website for hours and showings. A new local spot, Lyman Tavern, might also be a fun place to grab a bite to eat. Kids are allowed during certain hours.
Cozy up next to a campfire at our fire pit constructed last season. It is located in the center of the property. Posts with solar lights are also around the fire pit. The lights are operated by remote so lights can be turned off to star gaze. You are welcome to burn any wood already down.
Outdoor opportunities (hiking, biking, rafting) are in abundance from about any direction. To the East you'll find the North Cascade National Park, Baker Lake within the Mt. Baker National Forest, and Ross Lake National Recreation Area. Bicyclists will enjoy the close proximity to the Cascade Trail. Places to explore further from camp could be Deception Pass, Padilla Bay or the quaint towns of LaConner and Anacortes.
We do not live on site but could potentially be there upon your arrival setting up any "extras" you've requested or finishing property maintenance. We do have friends nearby who alert us to anything that doesn't look right.
***As this is a working agricultural area we want to be transparent that farm activities such a spraying and harvesting of the blueberries may occur along property boundaries. More than likely this will not happen during your stay but be prepared to head to town for ice cream or to the Birdsview Brewery while things settle down around camp. Please let us know if you have any questions. This has not been a problem for us yet personally.

The campsite was GORGEOUS! And very spacious. There was a beautiful view of a seriously blue river from sun up to sun down. The peace and quiet was unreal! Also we were able to enjoy a campfire each night. There's so many more amazing details I could share about our stay but I believe anyone and everyone needs to experience it first hand. It was a truly wonderful place and we were sad to leave but we will definitely be back!

We had an amazing stay and would absolutely book here again! We stayed at a site on the river, and it was such a beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing getaway. Traveling all the way from Florida, it was wonderful to arrive and have everything already set up and ready for us.
Jeremy truly thought of everything a guest could need, which made our trip so much easier.
There were thoughtful touches everywhere, from robes, headlamps, and shower sandals to a cooler with ice, quality cookware, a knife block, plenty of dishes and utensils, and even basic seasonings and oil for cooking. It honestly felt like all we had to do was show up and enjoy ourselves.
A friend and I brought our 3 kids, and we loved having the option to add a second tent. It made the setup perfect for our group.
Jeremy and his daughter were incredibly friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. Their hospitality and genuine care for their guests really stood out and made the experience even more enjoyable.
The property was exactly what we were hoping for, and it’s clear that a lot of thought, care, and pride go into creating such a comfortable and memorable experience. We highly recommend this stay to anyone looking for a unique, stress-free getaway.

Our group had a wonderful stay - we rented both sites and felt like we were in our own little nature preserve. The sites were meticulously maintained, and the provided water, covered stove area, extra folding table and plenty of chairs made spreading out and making ourselves feel at home super easy. We were all empresses with the extra touches Mathew thought of in how he prepared the space for us. Matthew graciously accommodated our group and made time to give us a tour of the property, where he shared lots of conversation about building, permaculture, and lots of overall living grid wisdom. This place is really amazing, and I hope to get to stay in one of his off grid tiny houses at some point for another visit. The creek and trail to the river made for a fun exploration as well. Hope to make it back another time!

Such a beautiful location on the Skagit River! The camp set up is so well done and comfortable. Makes for such an easy stay. We spent hours in the zero gravity chairs watching the river, birds, some deer, and the sunset. Also had a couple great meals in Concrete at Cascade Burgers and 5b’s bakery.

The campsite was absolutely gorgeous and right on the bank of the Skagit River! Jeremy thought of everything. There was a full kitchen set, grill, propane fire pit, zero-gravity chairs, a hammock, etc. The tent was spacious and the bed comfortable. I would defintely stay here again!

Everything is as described and as other reviewers have noted- super clean and convenient spot right off hwy 20. Amazing bathroom and shower setup. Felt like a miniature state campground in the best way possible! It was the spot to sleep over on our way to Methow Valley when we get a late start and don’t want to drive over the pass in the dark and for when you want an early arrival time to popular nearby trailheads. We will absolutely be back!

Nice spot. Two things of note: the RV hookups are on the opposite side of where they usually are. Passenger side of your rig. Our 15’ sewer line BARELY reached. Also, the fire pit for the RV site is very small.

We loved this campground. Extremely close to town and North Cascades NP with a hot shower to finish the day. Easy to find. There is traffic noise so would recommend earplugs if you’re a light sleeper but it does quiet down after dark.

Spacious & private campsite and tons of greenery around! Mike was a great communicator & directions arriving were helpful. You could hear some road noise, but all campsites in that area were the same and it did not bother us at night at all. A mile from a small town so easy to grab amenities & gas too. Right outside the North Cascades park so drivable to many things.

I enjoyed my stay at Matthew’s camp site. We stayed in the fairy meadow and there was plenty of space. Matthew brought us a fresh water jug when we were running out. The outhouse is provided with sawdust to help cover anything. Walk to the creek and the canoes provided were really nice, very cold water but felt great for the hot days we were there.

We absolutely loved this spot, it was a private, wooded spot, close to the rushing creek and had everything you need. With water right there, plenty of seating, a fire pit, and nearby porta potty - we were set. It was simple for us to park and relax, we took the dogs for a walk and drink in the stream and enjoyed dinner and cards on the provided picnic table. The moon shone through the trees and we slept soundly with the rushing creek sounding in the background. Highly recommend staying in this wonderful spot close to everywhere you want to explore in the area, well set up, private and safe.
