If you’re down for a little history (and maybe a little mystery) Cedarville State Forest will definitely dazzle. The 3,510 acre forest was once the winter camping ground of the Piscataway Tribe because of the mild climate and abundance of game. Legend claims that there is a Native American burial ground within the forest... but it has yet to be found. Spooky! Equestrian, family and youth group campsites are available for your overnight stay. 19.5 miles of horseback riding, hiking and mountain biking trails weave through the forest. They pass a number of historical features, including the loblolly pine plantations that were planted by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's, by a charcoal kiln, and through farm areas whose springs and streams were used to make moonshine!

We are within an hour of Gettysburg and within an hour and a half of DC if you're planning a day trip. We have a prime central location with close access to so many things to do. This beautiful property is nestled in a valley between Elk Ridge and South Mountain with incredible sunrises, sunsets and starlit night skies. Walk out to the fishing pond, or follow the trails around the pastures to meet the cattle grazing. We have Scottish Highlands and Black Angus grazing as well as Alpacas. We also have beautiful peacocks on the property. We are a working farm so expect to see tractors and you may even see us baling hay or tending to the cattle. You may smell some animal smells which we work at keeping to a minimum but again, we are a working farm. It’s a true farm experience. Also, please keep in mind that during warm weather you may encounter some bugs. Gnats and flies are always a possibility and of course at times they can be worse than others. That can always be a possibility when camping or being outdoors. Bring bug spray, citronella and anything else to help with insects. If you stay by the pond you may hear frogs which personally I enjoy hearing but some may not. Consider bringing a generator and run a fan if you think the sound might bother you or some way to block sounds. We enjoy talking to our guests so feel free to stop us for a chat. At the RV sites you have 30 and 50 amp power as well as water. All the water spickets are potable and drinkable. Please be aware that some may not have great cell service and as noted in the amenity section we do not have WiFi at any of the sites yet. It is something we are looking into for the future. If something is urgent you should be able to pick up WiFi near the tenant house and a password can be provided for you to try.

Farm encompasses nearly 300 acres on the Patuxent River. There is access to the river on high tide via our private creek (must bring your own canoe or kayak) and 150 acres of marshland. Over 100 acres of woods to walk through and a pond for wildlife watching. We also have beautiful peacocks on the property. We are a working farm so expect to see tractors and you may even see us baling hay or tending to the cattle. You may smell some animal smells which we work at keeping to a minimum but again, we are a working farm. It’s a true farm experience. Also, please keep in mind that during warm weather you may encounter some bugs. Gnats and flies are always a possibility and of course at times they can be worse than others. That can always be a possibility when camping or being outdoors. Bring bug spray, citronella and anything else to help with insects. If you stay by the pond you may hear frogs which personally I enjoy hearing but some may not. Consider bringing a generator and run a fan if you think the sound might bother you or some way to block sounds. We enjoy talking to our guests so feel free to stop us for a chat. At the RV sites you have 30 and 50 amp power as well as water. All the water spickets are potable and drinkable. Please be aware that some may not have great cell service and as noted in the amenity section we do not have WiFi at any of the sites yet. It is something we are looking into for the future. If something is urgent you should be able to pick up WiFi near the tenant house and a password can be provided for you to try.

Private, quiet stream-front site. Our lab loved frolicking in the stream. Site was level and well-sized for my truck and camping trailer. In the summer, it would get a lot of sun over the southern ridge opposite the river, so solar collection would work. In November, sun was in short supply, and the sun angle was pretty low, so we just barely eked by. We bring our own bathroom facilities(Cleanwaste GO), but other campers who don’t want to be digging cat holes should be aware that there are no bathroom facilities if they are staying on site for a long time. Convenient to Old Rag for day hikers, and Montpelier for history buffs. No trouble with raccoons etc, but we kept our food secured just in case. Nice steel fire pit, which made cooking over the fire a breeze.

This is the perfect combo of spacious camping spots, easy access from the highway, and just enough amenities to make this a truly enjoyable experience. Combo lock access behind a gate means late arrivals can just cruise right in and feel nice and private once you’re set up. Graham's land was beautiful! The site was well maintained, flat and an even space for our truck camping. There was a nice picnic table at each site with a fire box and grate to cook on, all stocked with firewood and even kindling to get started. The river wraps around the sites with giant rocks and a steap forest incline opposite of the site. The hosts were incredibly kind and went far out of their way to help us out. The river was very refreshing (it froze last night) but we still enjoyed the semi polar plunge. It'll be a perfect summer spot with a sandy beach and great rocks to jump off into the water.

Overall a decent stay. The staff at the brewery were confused about check in but we got it sorted out. It was in the colder season so we had a lot of privacy which was really nice. We enjoyed the ability to hang at the brewery/vineyard with other campers and we appreciated bathrooms available after hours. The butter beer and white wine hot apple cider were just what we needed that chilly night. Would stay again but my only complaint was it was hard to find a flat spot to set up. We found a decently flat spot but since we were sleeping directly on a mat on the ground we were shifting/sliding all night- prob would’ve been fine for a RV camper though.

The recreational draw to this area is hard to beat in VA, and this property has it all for an amazing outdoor weekend! The ranch comprises 40 acres of lowland acreage designated for the camp, including a 5-acre lake. The Cedar Grove sites 1, 2, and 3 are along the banks of Passage Creek located within a sparse, groomed Cedar grove. They are all a short walk (or drive) to the lake and beach amenities. Each site has varying access to the creek, so check out the site details. These sites are extra large and can accommodate multiple family groups, as well as, travel trailers of all sizes up to off-road motorcoaches in site 1. There are no hookups, so just boondocking. Pack it in, Pack it out. Generators are allowed but please be aware of the other sites and direct the noise away. The Lakeside Mountain Stream site is very secluded, nestled between the mountains and the lake. It overlooks our 5-acre lake with mountain views in the background. It's on the opposite side of the lake from the Cedar Sites. This site has its own dock and is just a short walk down a mowed trail to a beautiful section of Passage Creek. An additional seasonal mountain stream can cascade behind the site and run under it to feed the lake when the conditions are right. It's a delicate site, so the accommodations and group size is strictly limited. Check out the reviews and extensive gallery for many options of this amazing property! Locally, the North end of Fort Valley offers many great hiking trails, trout fishing, rock climbing, horseback riding, and the Elizabeth Furnace day-use park. Taskers Gap OHV/ATV park is a short drive south, and the valley is sandwiched between both forks of the Shenandoah River for those looking to paddle.
