You can fish and float the river. There are no trails so a moderate level of fitness and comfort in the forest is needed. You can follow the water ways but it is wilderness. Camping there is primitive but available or you can camp or glamp at Earthwalk Ways Retreat. We are also adjacent to a 50 acre farm on the other side of the creek that is available for hiking. There is a reservoir nearby as well. We are in the midst of the suburbs not far from Fredericksburg, which has some great historic and community places of interest. Our facilities are private and we only rent to one or 2 guests at a time. You can glamp in a trailer, or car camp in a nice campground with power and water or you can go primitive and pack in. All spaces include access to our classical 11 circuit labyrinth and backyard gardens where you can enjoy zen rock garden and other contemplative nature crafts. We prefer that guests arrive before dark. **Note that the North Fork is a shallow river with a slate bottom. Darlene's land was a perfect hip camp. Usually my dogs and I hit the hay at nightfall, but Darlene's camp has an electric pole with a light, a screened tent with a table and chair, and an extra electric plug (recharge phones) - it was private and serene - plus Darlene was a FANTASTIC communicator, who meets you there to show you how the compostable toilet works, where to get firewood, etc. - then leaves you your privacy. Only a small disclaimer for travelers with dogs, IF you have a reactive dog (as one of mine is) there is quite a bit of wildlife noise in the woods. Highly recommend this hipcamp.

I enjoyed tent camping by the little lake on the property with my young son. He was excited to see the roaming chickens and peacocks by the winery.

This was such an amazing spot to camp. I’m glad I chose this site because it was perfect for the fall leaves. A piece of the Appalachian trail is was than 100 yds away and everything was clean and well maintained. Wonderful stay

Jen was a great host! I love her property and how much privacy we had! Great view for the stars at night so beautiful. Definitely booking again! The farm store was definitely a blessing I had forgot a few things and the store had it all! My 2.5 year old daughter loved running around! Very family friendly.

1 acre campsite has a bathhouse with flushing toilet, mini outdoor kitchen, solar outdoor shower, tent pad, table for 8, firepit with grill and horseshoe pit.

Amazing stay, the camp store was very cool we were able to buy eggs and sausage for breakfast in the morning. The camp was beautiful and secluded. The host was very helpful, 10/10 would definitely stay again if in the area!

1 night at Earthwalk Ways Retreat

I had a beautiful experience here. Darlene was so generous with her flexibility and understanding of my circumstances. I came here looking for a bit of healing and quiet. I stayed under the gazebo and enjoyed the spa twice! The property is so lovely and magical. I felt held by the trees and Darlene even helped guide me through some of the strong emotions I was experiencing. Such a beautiful experience. I will be back soon.

Weekend Trip to Wineberry Grove

The spot was wonderful. It was well kept, has a spot to use the restroom, was private, and had access to clean river water across the road. Check in process was easy.
